Ugh. "Another Day Gone" and "Day Drinkin" better not be just album tracks...

I thought "Day Drinkin" was a slam dunk for the next single. But "Close Your Eyes" is still a good choice, from a surprisingly good album. This might be my forth favorite from their album after "Another Day Gone", "Day Drinkin", and "Think You Oughta Know That". Actually this song talks about the tired theme about spending time with a girl on a moonlite night, but the melody is very good, and avoids to many cliche's in the lyrics. Their kind of country is not my favorite but I'm glad their label went with another song like this and stayed away from songs like "I'll Bring The Music", and "Back In The Day". I do agree with Phil though.. "Another Day Gone" and "Day Drinkin" better be released at some point. Especially "Another Day Gone". That song is just too good to not be a single. But I've been let down before .

Love this song. Had it stuck in my head last night randomly and it quickly got added to my playlist when the album came out. Agree that "Day Drinkin" needs to be released after this. I could see that being the "Sunny and 75" of 2014 where it peaks in the winter despite being a definite summer song.

I wonder if they are holding off on releasing "Day Drinking" because of the upcoming Little Big Town single. That's just speculation on my part though.

Solid choice. Was REALLY hoping for "Another Day Gone" though.

I'm surprised that I actually like this...even more than I did the band's first two singles. As was the case with Parmalee's first two singles, the lyrics are lackluster, but the vocals really make the song work. The lead singer (Matt Thomas, I believe) just seems to convey so much passion in his delivery. I've listened to portions of each song on the album (couldn't get the motivation to sit through all the songs), and this does seem like the logical third single choice. It should be another top 10 hit and after this "Another Day Gone" would be a great release.

This album is so good, they could have randomly pulled a song out of a hat and it would have been an excellent choice.
That having been said, "Close Your Eyes" is one of my favorites...great choice. I'm wondering if they didn't go with "Day Drinkin'" because of LBT's forthcoming single by the same name.

I think "Day Drinkin'" could have more easily gotten lost in the shuffle of songs because it's so generic. This song more closely matches the Daughtry-like style of "Carolina" that managed to break Parmalee through.

Great choice. I was thinking they might go with "Day Drinkin'" (another great radio-ready tune), but as Dustin J. said, they pretty much could've drawn from a hat and they would've gotten it right. I can see this being another big hit for them, even if it spends 7-8 months or more on the chart. "Day Drinkin'" still seems like an obvious choice, but given the fact that the album is full of great tunes, I can live with it not being released, especially if Little Big Town is planning on releasing a song with the same title. "Back In The Day", "Already Callin' You Mine", and "Another Day Gone" would all be great choices as well. No doubt there will be some good songs left as album tracks, but so far they're doing pretty well.

The real question here is how the hell did they pick "Musta Had a Good Time" as the first single?

^They musta had too much of a good time. They did so much day drinkin' that they weren't thinking clearly when they chose the single.

Some radio station should play this song and Keith Whitley's "Don't Close Your Eyes" back to back. :)

I'm so confused! Everyone seems to have wanted "Day Drinkin'" as their next single! Every other thread says, Great....just what we need, another drinking song! lol
One of my favorites off the album! Which isn't saying much since I absolutely love the entire cd! But probably in my top 3.

Meh.
This sound like "Chillin It"...which sounds like all the other crap. I can literally sing once chorus over the other. Chalk another one up for bro-country!
In my opinion this is the darkest period in country music in three decades.

I love this song! I've been listening to Adam Craig's version for about 6 months now, which I much prefer. (Can be heard here if anyone is interested: myspace.com/adam.craig.music/music/songs) But I'm so excited this is the new Parmalee single!

Love the song and the whole album. I'm a huge Trent Tomlinson fan so I was pleasantly surprised when I found out he co-wrote this. Hoping this does great for them.

I'm not a big fan of the party/bro angle and much prefer their more romantic (Carolina) or introspective (Another Day Gone) sides. While I prefer bands to do songs they wrote themselves, I really like this one and it is a great showcase for Matt's vocals. Hope it's another hit, I'm a big fan!!

It's not everyday I have a meaningless story to tell, but this morning when I was going through the toll booth, I had this song playing on my Sirius/XM unit. When I rolled my window down to hand my change to the toll worker he said, "Ah, got the rock music going this morning". First I laughed and said no, It's the country station. He said then said to me "Well I don't really listen to country, so I didn't know it could sound like that" I think most of it is the lead vocalists singing voice. Parmalee is a rock style country group, but come on

My Itunes calls Parmalee's album Alternative. I think some of their songs do sound like rock music to me, however I agree that "Close Your Eyes" sounds more country.

I still have yet to check out their album. Wasn't a big fan of Carolina, though. I liked the single they put out momentarily prior to Carolina. Anyway, I think the lead singer's voice is very similar to that of The Calling's.

OK, this is really growing on me. I liked it to begin with, but just in the past week have I truly found myself singing along to this. I can see why they released this one second. It has that great spring/summer feel to it. Kind of like "Runnin' Outta Moonlight" did. though I think this is a slightly less catchy. The lyrics are a little bro-country but like Randy's, I seem to cut this one some slack for some reason.
Hopefully this will pick up once the weather warms up a bit as it currently sits at #50 on Mediabase. I still want "Another Day Gone"(My favorite on the album) released at some point along with "Day Drinkin'". Perhaps if "Close Your Eyes" can peak in the early summer at some point then having "Day Drinkin'" and "Another Day Gone" released, it could have a good round out of the record. It all depends on how well this performs at radio, as I know nothing is guaranteed these days, especially with a group as new as them.
And of course it's a Trent Tomlinson co-write so it was only natural to love this one.

I'm guessing this will peak around late August/early September. "Another Day Gone" would be a perfect fall/winter single IMO. Than "Day Drinkin'" in spring 2015.

The real question here is how the hell did they pick "Musta Had a Good Time" as the first single? That song is brutal. Every song on their album is fantastic, yet somehow this made it on as the very first track of their first cd and first single of career. Terrible choice.

I noticed that a lot of stations are still playing the heck out of "Carolina." Did SCR release Close Your Eyes too soon or is this normal? I know they're about to shoot a video for the new single, so maybe when that comes out radio will move on.
