You're not stupid...but I will accept forgetful (of admittedly useless details). lol Oh and The Greencards are one of my favorite bands that nobody seems to know about. Their music is so awesome and I wish more people would discover them. I need to get their new album still but I've heard it's really good. Great choice Also much like The Greencards did anybody ever hear of The Duhks? They're awesome but I do like it better when they have Jessica Harvey as the lead, the albums without her aren't as good imo. This is my favorite video and song by them. :)

Random Video Of The Day:
Artist: Trent Tomlinson Single: "Drunker Than Me" Writers: Trent Tomlinson, Ashe Underwood Album: Country Is My Rock Label: Lyric Street Video Director: Trey Fanjoy Year Released: October 24, 2005 Radio and Records Peak: #14 Billboard Peak: #19
Trent Tomlinson is a 38 year old country music singer/songwriter from Blytheville, Arkansas, but raised in Kennett, Missouri. Trent had some of his songs cut by the likes of Blue County and Emerson Drive before landing a record deal, which he did in 2005 on Lyric Street. "Drunker Than Me" peaked at #14 in March, 2006 after a 2005 release. The second single was "One Wing In The Fire" (#10), and the third was "Just Might Have Her Radio On" (#21). All Mediabase peaks. The three singles were off his Country Is My Rock album, which turned out to be his only released full length album. In 2008 he was moved to Carolwood (Subsidiary of Lyric Street). "That's How It Still Oughta Be" (#34), "Henry Cartwright's Produce Stand" (#42), and "Angels Like Her" (Did Not Chart) were supposed to be on his second album, A Guy Like Me, but never got released due to the poor performance of the three singles. He did put out the EP of A Guy Like Me though in January 2010. After that he parted ways with the label. He has released two other singles including his last entry "Man Without A Woman" (#59) in 2011 on Skyville Records.
Trent also since he signed his record deal in 2005 has had numerous songs recorded by other artist, including "Missing Missouri" by Sara Evans, "Why Can't I Leave Her Alone" by George Strait, and "Close Your Eyes" by Parmalee. Trent's debut album and EP were fantastic. I absolutely love "Just Might Have Her Radio On". "One Wing In Fire" "Drunker Than Me" and "Angels Like Her" were my other favorites, but really all of his songs were great. I hope he gets one more shot at a record deal, because I've yet to come across a song he has written I haven't liked.

I absolutely love Trent Tomlinson's album. The singles were all excellent (especially "Just Might Have Her Radio On" and "One Wing in the Fire"), but the album was replete with little-heard gems: "Angels Like Her", "The Bottle", "A Good Run", "I Was Gonna Leave Tomorrow Anyway", etc. It's a shame that radio never touched any of his subsequent output and he basically fell off the face of the Earth. Glad to hear he's been able to make it as a songwriter, though.

Wanted to post this. The best Montgomery Gentry song you've never heard, entitled "Cold One Comin' On". Only peaked at 23 on Billboard, but a #1 in my book. Such a great message. Eddie has recently filed for bankruptcy, so I hope he can recover from that nicely. And I also hope MG can find a way to get back on the radio with some new material. Best of luck to em.

I've always loved, loved that song. Easily one of their strongest tunes, if not the strongest. Late '90s/early aughts Montgomery Gentry was extremely solid. Here's another favorite:

Montgomery Gentry is actually the favorite country act of former Buffalo Bills hall of fame quarterback Jim Kelly . "Cold One Comin' On" was good, but my two favorites were "Speed" and "Something To Be Proud Of". I know the ladder has gotten a bit overplayed over the years, but love the story line in that one. The best album tracks they never released were "Twenty Years Ago", and "Scarecrow". I thought the second one should have been a huge hit, but the My Town album was pretty stacked, so I understand why it was never released

You are right that My Town was pretty stacked. Been a while since I listened to it, but I also remember really liking "For the Money" and "Lie Before You Leave." I don't think I ever heard their first two albums in full (have to rectify that), but when it comes to album cuts on You Do Your Thing, I really enjoyed "All I Know About Mexico" and "I Ain't Got It All That Bad." Definitely an underrated group. Doesn't hurt that they hit it big when I was first seriously getting into country, so I have lots of nostalgic feelings towards their music. All this MG talk makes we want to revisit their entire discography again soon, lol.

Random Video Of The Day:Artist: Shania Twain Single: "I'm Gonna Getcha Good" Writers: Mutt Lange, Shania Twain Album: UpLabel: Mercury Nashville Video Director: Paul Boyd Year Released: September 23, 2002 Billboard Peak: #7 Shania Twain was the probably the biggest female star in Country music during the 90's. Her given name was Eilleen Regina Edwards, and she was born in Windsor, Ontario. She caught the attention of Mercury Nashville due to her assembled demo tapes and was signed in 1993. Her debut single was "What Made You Say That" (#55) in 1993. But it wasn't until her second album The Women In Me that she would break through. "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under" peaked at #11 in 1995. Her second release though would be one of her most well known hits "Any Man Of Mine". Many were taken back by the upbeat loud production and stated that it was too pop for country music, which looking back was pretty laughable if you ask me. The song would be a #1 single, and be one of four #1's off the record. Then in 1997 she would produce the most successful album in country music history Come On Over. In fact it was the most successful album by a female artist in any genre, and ranks as the second greatest selling album in history, eclipsing 40 million copies sold as of 2012. The song would produce 11.. Yes I said 11 singles on country radio. With three of them going #1 ("Love Gets Me Every Time", "You're Still The One", and "Honey I'm Home"). After taking a nearly two year break "I'm Gonna Getcha A Good" was the lead off her Up album, which had a country and pop disc included entitled the green and red versions. The album produced 5 singles to country radio with 8 overall. Three top 10's including "I'm Gonna Getcha Good", "Forever And For Always", and "She's Not Just A Pretty Face". She also had a greatest hits that had "Party For Two" (#7), "Don't" (#24), and "I Ain't No Quitter" (#41). Along with the single "Shoes" (#29) which was off the Desperate Housewives soundtrack. Her last entry was "Today Is Your Day" (#36) in 2011. Shania is expected to release a brand new single off a new album in 2014. It would be her first full length album in 12 years. It still is unclear when the album will be completed. Shania is one of my favorite all time artist, and right up there with Sara Evans, and Patty Loveless as my favorite female country singer. She was also the very first concert I ever saw in 2003 (Pretty darn good first concert ). Her opening act that night was James Otto. So really James was the first ever country artist I ever saw live. For anybody who has ever seen her live, it's worth every dime and still in my top 2 or 3 concerts I ever saw.

Random Video Of The Day:Artist: Brian McComas Single: "Good Good Lovin'" Writers: Brian McComas Album: Back Up AgainLabel: Katapult Records Video Director: Roman White Year Released: April, 2006 Radio and Records Peak: #51 Billboard Peak: #53 Brian McComas is a 41 year old country music singer/songwriter who was born in Maryland, but moved to Arkansas when he was 4 years old. He attended a Paul Overstreet concert when he was a teenager and Overstreet gave him the contact to a publishing company. The publishing company told him that if he worked on his craft enough he had the potential to make it in Nashville. McComas moved to Nashville in the early 90's but wouldn't sign a record deal till 2000 when he hooked on with Mercury. He was dropped before making any music for the label, but soon found a home at Lyric Street in 2001. His debut single was "Night Disappear With You" peaked at #41, and the second "I Could Never Love You Enough" got to #46. But his break through was the top 10 single "99.9% Sure (I've Never Been Here Before)". The song peaked at #10 and helped release his self titled debut album. The second single was the Jeffrey Steele co-write "Your In My Head" (#21). In early 2005 he charted with what was supposed to be a lead for his second album "The Middle Of Nowhere" (#43), a song I've been looking for forever . After the low peak, he was dropped from Lyric Street. He signed with Independent Katapult Records in 2006 and released "Good Good Lovin". The song only peaked at #51, but did provide a quirky video of a Barbie and Ken Doll spending the day together. His second single for the label, which would be his last single to date was the late 2006 release "All Comes Floodin' Down". The song failed to chart. McComas got the idea for the song after watching a History Channel Special about a ancient small town that was wiped out by a massive flood. I'm a big fan of "Your In my Head", but "All Comes Floodin' Down" might be my favorite by him. He was a great songwriter, and his Back Up Again album was better than his debut and I believe if he got another shot at a major label he would have been successful.

Random Video Of The Day:
Artist: Sarah Buxton Single: "Outside My Window" Writers: Gary Burr, Sarah Buxton, Mark Hudson, Victoria Shaw Album: Sarah Buxton Label: Lyric Street Video Director: Mark Hudson Year Released: June 29, 2009 Mediabase Peak: #22 Billboard Peak: #23
Sarah Buxton, born in Lawrence, Kansas is a 33 year old country music singer/songwriter. Probably her biggest break was befriending John Rich of Big & Rich. He loved her voice when they met in 2004 and teamed up for some songwriting sessions. Because of that she was able to sing background vocals for John Corbett's single "Good To Go", and duet with Cowboy Troy on his single "If You Don't Wanna Love Me" in 2005. In 2006, which was around the same time that Keith Urban decided to cut "Stupid Boy" which was written by Sarah, she signed with Lyric Street Records and released her debut "Innocence". The song managed a #28 peak in late 2006. "That Kinda Day" peaked at #26 in 2007. Both songs were off her EP entitled Almost My Record. "Space" was the final song released off the EP, but only peaked at #34 on mediabase. The song "Outside My Window" was released in the summer of 2009 and didn't peak till early 2010. Lyric Street folded in 2010 and Sarah was dropped. She briefly founded a duo called Buxton Hughes with Jedd Hughes, but they split in 2011. She has mainly focused on her songwriting since then, and some of the singles she has written recently are "Put You In A Song" by Keith Urban, "That's Why I Pray" by Big & Rich, "Pieces" by Gary Allan, and "Don't Let Me Be Lonely" by The Band Perry.
The music video for "Outside My Window" only cost 80$ to make. The video was directed by one of the co-writers Mark Hudson. Sarah said the video was the perfect way to showcase the kind of song "Outside My Window" was. I remember John Rich in 2004 talking about some of his Muzik Mafia members, and while Sarah wasn't quite a member, she was brought up by John as having a voice of velvet and being a cross between Stevie Nicks and Dolly Parton vocally along with being a killer songwriter. Hopefully Sarah gets more of her songs recorded because judging by some of the ones others have recorded she is certainly a gifted songwriter. She also sang with Dierks Bentley on "Sweet And Wild" along with having background vocals on David Nail's #1 single "Let It Rain"

Random Video Of The Day:
Artist: Kenny Chesney Single: "Anything But Mine" Writers: Scooter Carosue Album: When The Sun Goes Down Label: BNA Video Director: Shaun Silva Year Released: January 3, 2005 Radio And Records Peak: #1 Billboard Peak: #1 (April 23 - 30, 2005)
Everyone knows who Kenny Chesney is. The Knoxville, Tennessee native has been a country music superstar since the early 2000's, and a hit maker since the mid 90's. His first single was all the way back in 1993 "Somebody's Callin". The song did not chart. In fact his first albums In My Wildest Dreams would produce zero top 50 singles. "Fall In Love" would be his first hit, peaking at #5 in 1995 on his second album All I Need To Know. The album also had the top 10 Title Track, along with "Grandpa Told Me So" (#23). His next three albums would produce numerous hits such as "Me And You" (#2), "She's Got It All" (#1), "That's Why I'm Here" (#2), and "How Forever Feels" (#1). Along with one of my absolute favorites of his "What I Need To Do" (#8). The album that put him into superstar status was No Shoes, No Shirts, No Problems in 2002. That album would start a consecutive streak of 30 top 10 singles. In fact Kenny went 10 years before having his top 10 streak broken by the 2012 release "Feels Like A Rockstar" (#11). In that time, some of his biggest hits were "The Good Stuff, "Young", "There Goes My Life", "When The Sun Goes Down", "Who You'd Be Today", "Beer In Mexico", "Don't Blink", "Down The Road", "Somewhere With You", and "You And Tequila" to name but a few. All of those singles went either #1, or a #2 peak on the singles chart. Kenny has sent 55 singles to country radio ("The Tin Man" was re-released on his Greatest Hits), with 44 top 10's, and 22 #1 singles. He has recorded 14 studio albums, 4 compilation's, and a Christmas album.
The "Anything But Mine" video was shot in Malibu, California, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Amy Cobb is the actress in the video and Sonny Miller who shot Blue Crush, was responsible for the surfing and underwater scenes. Many feel the video for "Anything But Mine" enhanced the song tremendously, and made the song even better, even though it was a great song to begin with. Scooter Carusoe was a label executive at one point but wanted to fulfill his desire to be a songwriter, and this was his first cut release. He also wrote Kenny's #1 hit "Better As A Memory" in the Summer of 2008. "Anything But Mine" finished at #7 on Radio And Records Year End Chart, and #13 on Billboard's.
This is my favorite song ever by Kenny. I think it was not only a great song, but it came at a time I started following the charts and the industry pretty religiously. I never missed the top 30 country countdown USA with Lon Helton during most of 2005, and I still get massive flashbacks of that time period every time I hear this song or really any song charting at that time. I'm still upset to this day that "Baby Girl" by Sugarland was stuck at #2 because of Craig Morgan, then this song got to #1 after both Sugarland and Craig lost their bullets. My other favorites by Chesney are "What I Need To Do', "The Good Stuff", "You Save Me", "Don't Blink", "There Goes My Life", and "Down The Road"

This is also my favorite Kenny song. By far. And at the end of each summer I play it on a daily basis. Thanks for the info regarding the video too. I've always wondered about that.
And I agree with you about how this video made the song even better. It is one of the few times where the song story in your head matches up with the way the song is portrayed in the video.

Something Worth Leaving Behind got a bad rap. It was a blatant attempt at replicating the crossover success of IHYD but I still quite like it.
My favorite song from Lee Ann is I Hope You Dance. It's probably in the top 3 of my favorite songs of all time across all genres. And that I Hope You Dance album was stacked with great songs.
Other gems from LAW are The Fool, You've Got To Talk To Me, I'll Think Of A Reason Later, Don't Tell Me, Ashes By Now, Why They Call It Falling, The Wrong Girl, Finding My Way Back Home.

What are your guys favorite Lee Ann Womack's songs? She's one of my favorite singers, so I like a lot of her songs. My favorite is her very first single, "Never Again, Again," which peaked at #23 in 1997. Another favorite, also from her debut album, was never released as a single: "Make Memories With Me," a duet with Mark Chesnutt.

Random Video Of The Day:
Artist: Rachel Proctor Single: "Me And Emily" Writers: Rachel Proctor, Chris Tompkins Album: Where I Belong Label: BNA Video Director: Kristen Barlowe Year Released: March, 2004 Billboard Peak: #18
Rachel Proctor is a 39 year old songwriter and former artist from Charleston, West Virginia. She moved to Nashville in the mid 90's and had cuts by Sonya Isaacs, Kourtney Kayle and The Lynns. Her first songwriting credit that became a single was Martina McBride's 2002 "Where Would You Be" (#3). She also sang background vocals on Blake Shelton's "Ol Red". She signed to BNA in 2002 and released her debut single "Days Like This" in 2003. The song managed a #24 peak. The album Where I Belong would produce the second single "Didn't I" (#43), and the the Title Track (#37). "Me And Emily" was the third single, peaking at #18 in 2004. Chris Tompkins came up with the first line of the song and Rachel came up with the title and the song grew from there. Many fans felt moved by the song so much it encouraged them to leave their abusive relationship. She never thought it would be a single but BNA insisted on the song being released. After her first album, she parted ways with BNA, and focused on being mainly a songwriter.
Since then she has recorded two self-released albums (Only Lonely Girl, What Didn't Kill Me). She also has continued her songwriting credits. She co-wrote Jessica Simpson's 2008 country singles "Come On Over", and "Remember That". Along with "It's A Girl Thing" by Jesse Lee, and "Not That Far Away" by Jeanette McCurdy. Her latest single writing credit was Lauren Alaina's second career single "Georgia Peaches" in 2012. That song was written by Rachel Proctor, Mallary Hope, and Blair Daly.
"Me And Emily" is another nostalgia song for me. I always heard it on my bus ride home (Seems my station loved playing it from 2 to 3 P.M, because I heard it everyday). Even though I can't relate to the song my sister was in a abusive relationship at one point and I can clearly see how this song can mean something to someone. I also love "Georgia Peaches" which she of course had a hand in writing.

It really should've been a much bigger hit and I remember being shocked when Rachel went nowhere. p.s. Just a heads up; Rachel's last name is Proctor not Procter. Also it's Jesse Lee not Jessie Lee. :) Just to let you know lol

Since then she has recorded two self-released albums ( Only Lonely Girl, What Didn't Kill Me). She also has continued her songwriting credits. She co-wrote Jessica Simpson's 2008 country singles "Come On Over", and "Remember That". Along with "It's A Girl Thing" by Jessie Lee, and "Not That Far Away" by Jeanette McCurdy. Her latest single writing credit was Lauren Alaina's second career single "Georgia Peaches" in 2012. That song was written by Rachel Procter, Mallary Hope, and Blair Daly. Lov this song and video so much. It really should've been a much bigger hit and I remember being shocked when Rachel went nowhere. p.s. Just a heads up; Rachel's last name is Proctor not Procter. Also it's Jesse Lee not Jessie Lee. :) Just to let you know lol Honest mistake. I fixed it. Thanks for the point out. In my defense I was really tired this afternoon . lol I really shouldn't do these after work...

What are your guys thoughts on this Lee Ann Womack song? What are your guys favorite Lee Ann Womack's songs? Haha actually this is my favorite Lee Ann song... Love the imagery and the name-dropping and the message behind the lyric Thanks for posting this. This has to be one of the most underrated albums released by an artist, especially considering the bad rap it got. To this day this is one album I still go back and listen to now and again. If you're unfamiliar with this great album you should just listen to "Talk to Me," "You Should've Lied," or one of my all time favorite LAW tracks " Blame It On Me." I will always look back on LAW's Something Worth Leaving Behind album as a work of art for a now under appreciated artist.

I love "Chains" by Patty, but then again I love everything by Patty. I must admit I don't know much about The Gatlin Brothers, just a product of how old I am coupled with not hearing any of their music on the radio growing up, which in Patty's case I did. Nice picks countryhistorian.
Hope you don't mine but I'm working on one right now. Special request that I promised to get to today, hope you don't mine ;).

I love your videos of the day. Larry, Steve, and Rudy make up the Gatlin Brothers. However, for most of their career, they were billed as Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers.
