Bizarre. There is so much going on, I actually laughed on first listen?
I mean, it catches on after several listens, but I strongly prefer the stylings of "Coffee" / "Simplethings".
I know what I'm doing —I sure hope so, Miguel.

I'm TBD on how I feel about this EP. All three songs have elements that I like, but Miguel kind of lost his ability to be a smooth crooner in favor of "proving" something. Yes, Miguel, we know you see yourself as "alternative" but you don't need to include harsh and jarring guitar sounds in every thing you do to prove the point.

These songs are nice, but that recycled sound he's trying to push out that is getting old.

"Coffee" is the best of the three, but I'm not particularly impressed with any of them. There was clear progression from his first album to his second album, but these sound like they could have been buried on one of the Art Dealer Chic EPs.

They're not. "Coffee" is for sure one of his more recent recordings.

I like all three songs, but I do agree that they all sound like leftovers (and slightly unfinished ones at that). I'm trying to manage my expectations. He set himself an extremely high bar with Kaleidoscope Dream.

Agree overall, but let's be real here, any of these songs would be the weakest link on an Art Dealer Chic EP.

"Coffee" is really good even though it sounds like a mix of his second album. The other two aren't bad, but these songs (including "Coffee") sound lazy and no effort in pushing himself vocally and production wise.
He will have some difficulties launching this new album because we all seen how much of a problem that he had after "Adorn" and the success preventing him from getting another real hit.
It wouldn't shock me that him or his label or both are hoping one of these songs pop off which I'm leaning toward "Coffee" being it.

What's the latest on Miguel's new album? We're 90 percent done. Its working title is Wild Heart and we're talking second quarter. He's more confident, and it's going to show in the music, his look and in the videos. Miguel is ready to push the button. His first album was about trials and tribulations. The second was OK, we're here; I wasn't bugging. And now it's here we go. He wants people to understand who he is. He's tired of people asking who are you, what's that, do you like girls?" He tells me, "I want everyone to know I am wild, funny, edgy and love women. I need this album to connect." www.billboard.com/articles/business/6465825/mark-pitts-j-cole-interview?utm_source=twitter

"I want everyone to know I love women." Such an important assertion! I would know because I used to say this ALL the time when I first struggled with the fact that I liked dudes...

I'd like to say I'm stoked but anything we've heard from him post-Kaleidoscope Dream has been a bore. I'm cautiously optimistic because I know he's capable of the good stuff, but I'd be lying if I said I was expecting much right now.
