I think he may have an opening similar to A$AP(single takes off late, but dedicated fanbase). Miguel has for sure gathered more fans after the K.D. era(Grammys, Billboard Awards, "Legdrop").

I liked all the songs so far, but nothing has really captivated me so far like Kaleidoscope Dream did.

I don't care for any of these tracks. They all have this 70s "We love the world/Peace Sign" feel that I am not digging about them. He also seen very disinterested in what he is singing.

He tries too hard to be this hippie sex God and absolutely nobody views him in that way. All the songs I've heard from this album, so far, sound like rejects from his past projects with no hooks. I'm very disappointed.

These songs all sound pretentious and boring.

There's not one hit on this album. It's not bad, but it's certainly lacking hits and the melodies of his past 2 albums.

He made it available to stream on NPR starting this morning so it's not technically a "leak".

As an album Im liking it, he def doesn't have much single potential. Mark Pitts didn't lie when he said for this album Miguel wanted people to know "he loves women"...... LORD

I still don't like him and I think he's trying way too hard to be "edgy" but I'll use DEAL and the valley.

Hollywood Dreams, FLESH, and face the sun are absolutely stunning, based on the iTunes clips and Coffee still sounds good. So far, this is shaping up to be better than KD, for me. He is such a great artist and I am so excited to hear the rest of the album. Leave the concern about hits to Clive Davis. Miguel seems much more concerned about following his muse, which to me, is more important. It's what I look for in music, not a quick fix or something that will do well on radio, but that kind of thing is good too.

Disappointed to say the least. It works as an album, but looking into singles, nothing really sticks out. Outside of "Coffee", the only ones I seem to remember was "leaves" (really like this one), and "Face the Sun". They're the last two lol, but I do like them more than the others.

Never cared for Miguel or his albums. Only the singles. Talented artist nonetheless. Just not my cup of tea.

I'm conflicted on how I should actually rate Wildheart. If I'm rating the music on its own merits, I'd give this a B+. But if I'm supposed to evaluate this as a mainstream r&b album that was expected to produce hits, it gets a D-. I will say he shares one thing in common with his idol... this Adorn to Wildheart transition has shades of Prince going from Purple Rain to Around the World In a Day. Now, I don't mind him losing his mainstream sensibilities somewhat if he's just being a bratty artist who wants to make what he wants to make. But much like 80s Prince, present day Miguel strikes me as being so full of himself that he thinks everyone should just "get it" and be so in awe of his brilliance that they buy into it just as much as they did Adorn/Kaleidoscope Heart.
RCA is a fail both for doing almost nothing to support this project and for not flat out telling him that he's shelved until he makes at least one song they can reasonably expect radio to play. I just hate when labels half-ass stuff - if you think it's not a sellable project why release it? Not that Wildheart is unsalvageable...I think he should have released NWA first instead of Coffee because urban would have eaten that west coast vibe up; and the rest of the album needs more crisp production instead of this sort of muddy, lo-fi feel that he went for.
One big problem with the album is that it weirdly has a surprising amount of pop potential IMO, but the r&b in it is so lowkey that if it is there, it's on the alt-tip (hence the lack of singles...for urban). There's an arena rock/pop feel to a lot of this stuff that could dominate CHR. Again though, the production would need to be cleaned up. In this sense my biggest frustration with the album is that it really does have game-changer potential in it, but it's buried under Miguel's hubris and RCA's cluelessness, especially regarding is r&b roster.
Personal standouts - NWA, Waves, leaves, ...goingtohell, Face the Sun. NWA should be the second single, but after that I don't think there's anything. Waves could be suitable with a remix (lyrically and melodically on point but needs a hip-hop arrangement to make it work for radio).

I like "Face The Sun" the best....I guess the rest will have to grow on me. Cause I really ain't feeling the vibe on this project!

I'll start with the positive and say that the album's a bit more dynamic than I thought it would be, so I was pleasantly surprised, in that regard. The guitar riff in "DEAL" is sick. I also like "the valley" and "waves." And although I'm not a big fan of the song, he comes off genuine and unpretentious in "what's normal anyway." It almost doesn't fit in with the rest of the record.
With that being said, I'm getting bored of his song structures and melodies. They're all starting to sound the same. I'm also not a fan of that distorted echo he uses on his vocals in a lot of his songs. You can barely hear what he's saying. I definitely agree that there are no hits on this album, which I'm sure he and his label are already aware of. I just feel that it completely sabotages the momentum that they started to build with "Kaleidoscope Dream" and "Adorn."

This album is underwelming. Not bad but not great either...
My fave track is Flesh tho. NWA is dope too.
