He said yesterday he'll have a "HUGE" announcement this morning... I guess we'll see. He's already on tour, he hasn't said anything about working on new music (plus the current album is less than a year old), and a single release isn't really huge news.
It might be Queen related.

Wonder if it's just for fun, or if he's launching a new album/EP.

Ah - late to the discussion. I was at the New York show too and found his dancing kinda awkward from beginning to end. Was also meh about the whole production. Singing was good, but I'd prefer hearing him singing Queen songs over his own material any day.
But then when i went to the DC show, which was in a theatre instead of a club, everything turned out so PERFECT!!! I mean, I even regretted planning the travel to DC after the disappointment that was New York.
It amazes me how the venue can make such a difference. The lighting in DC was phenomenal, and the production came to you full-force - I realized many dance moves were supposed to be in more of a backlighting effect. In DC you always had the feeling he's on a stage and you're watching from afar; instead of he's just singing and dancing right in front of you (New York). Everything made so much more sense. I fell in love with him again in DC lol...

The song just isn't good. I'm surprised they put this out instead of just another song from TOH.

Yeah, those numbers aren't surprising. Most people aren't feeling it. The most positive comments I've seen about it were along the lines of "it's not bad."

I'm surprised they put this out instead of just another song from TOH. yeah, very weird decision to waste an idol performance on it when he has an album that is still "newish" he should be promoting. he should have performed "the original high" and released it as the final single in my opinion.

I like "Can't Go Home" a lot. Is this out yet???
I don't mind his latest song. It's on the cusp of being good. It needs to pick up at some point. It feels like it's going to and then nothing.

doesnt look like any of these new songs are getting the proper single treatment does it? the initial hype has certainly died down. what a shame as always.

Adam Lambert: Music Industry Uncomfortable with Gay Men Singing About Dudes"There's not as much of a reason to be scared of it, because people in general aren't scared of it." BY LES FABIAN BRATHWAITE When Sam Smith did a low-key cover of Whitney Houston's "How Will I Know" for Sirius XM, he noticeably avoided using any pronouns, male or otherwise. The ebullient, "There's a boy! I know! He's the one I dream of!" was changed to the melancholy, "Oh, it's you...." It was still a cute cover, but for an openly gay singer to skirt the issue, especially on such an informal recording, was a bit disappointing. Even Smith's breakthrough song "Stay with Me," about the unrequited love he felt for a straight guy, is gender neutral. But according to fellow out singer Adam Lambert, the music industry's "gatekeepers" like to keep gay artists in a glass closet. "I think there have been a lot of things in general that have shifted within the LGBT community and mainstream acceptance," Lambert told Digital Spy. "There's not as much of a reason to be scared of it, because people in general aren't scared of it." Lambert noted that while British singers Smith and Years & Years frontman Olly Alexander are helping to change attitudes in the music industry, he'd like to see more mainstream acts do the same in America. "It'd be nice if there was more," he said. "I think it'll happen slowly but surely. There are success stories happening and that's the biggest thing for the music industry. They need to see that it actually works in order for them to feel comfortable with it. The audiences are there for it, but the industry needs to come around a bit more to it. They are, but it's the last piece." The music industry is notoriously slow to catch up with the times. Hell, it's still trying to recover from Napster and let's just say Tidal ain't cuttin' it. But while the industry is dragging its feet into the 21st century, there are out and proud artists outside of the mainstream, or along its fringes, living and singing their truth, such as Alex Newell, Perfume Genius, and former Vampire Weekender Rostam Batmanglij. "Luckily we're in a moment right now with streaming where there's more power put back into the artist's and audience's hands," Lambert added. "But the gatekeepers who make a lot of the other big decisions in the music industry, those are the ones hardest to convince on certain things. That's the reasoning for some of that pronoun stuff." WTTS is being featured in tv sports spots -- for ncaa playoffs and now for NHL playoffs -- and they've got it on some spotify playlists, but nope, its not a radio single CGH is getting some dance radio play...I doubt there was any plan for a mainstream radio push. Aoki doesn't really get mainstream radio play in the usa

I don't know why he's still trying to push that song four months later.

I cannot at their promo strategy To begin with, the song is not that strong... To me it's worse than at least half of the songs in TOH. He had a good platform to have some kind of hit through Idol, as he mentored first and then performed. I think he could've had a single out (as ALN had already peaked after its unfortunate release before the freeze), released the video during his first idol participation and then live performance to support it. And if he was going to promote this random song, the video should've been out loooooong ago Bizarre

Is this song being played anywhere in the world? I thought they would have dropped it as a single. Is he starting a new leg of a tour or something?

not anymore, it isn't being promoted as a current single, not starting anything new -- just finished touring w Queen and filming x factor oz....looks like he just filmed a video bc he wanted a video for the song -- it was filmed back in March..not promoting it for any purpose beyond something to fill the ether while he starts work on next album/vacations

Queen + Adam Lambert Plot U.S. Summer TourQueen & Adam Queen + Adam Lambert announced an expansive summer tour that will launch June 23rd at Phoenix's Gila River Arena and take the group across the country through August 5th. Tickets for the 25-city tour will go on sale Friday, February 3rd at 10 am local time via Live Nation, though members of Queen and Adam Lambert's fan clubs can buy tickets beginning Tuesday, January 31st at 10 am. Queen and Lambert wrapped their most recent trek last September, a 15-date jaunt that included shows throughout Europe and Asia. The Queen/Lambert collaboration began in 2009 with a performance on the eighth season of American Idol, when guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor teamed up with Lambert, then a contestant on the singing competition. The trio subsequently performed together at the MTV Europe Awards in Belfast in 2011, followed by a joint concert with Elton John the next year in Kiev. After a mini-tour in 2012 and a headlining performance at Las Vegas' iHeartRadio Music Festival the following year, the revamped Queen launched a series of full-scale tours over the next three years. Since 2011, the band has been supported onstage by keyboardist Spike Edney, bassist Neil Fairclough and percussionist/Taylor's son, Rufus Tiger Taylor. While Queen haven't united with Lambert in the recording studio, the rock legends performed the singer's solo single "Ghost Town" during their 2015 tour, transforming it from a dance-floor banger into a monstrous arena rocker. The supergroup released the concert LP Live in Japan last year. In 2014, Queen released the compilation Queen Forever, which features previously unreleased tracks with vocalist Freddie Mercury and bassist John Deacon. It also includes "There Must Be More to Life Than This," a duet between Mercury and Michael Jackson. I'll bet that means no more new music from him until 2018 at least.
I get that it's what pays the bills, but it's a bit disappointing.

^I'm surprised that hasn't happened yet tbh.
I listened to Trespassing for the first time in a long while this week, and it's held up more than I expected it to have. "Never Close Our Eyes" should have been a smash.

I'm sure they were asked to considering the successful tours with Adam. If it didn't sell all that well I'm sure they could have made back some money with a tour bundle type thing.

Yeah, I'm not sure how much interest Queen have in making new music, they really do not need to as they have one of the best catalogues ever. I'm just thirsty for new Adam.
