I wonder if he released it on a Thurs to possibly not make the cutoff for the that week's chart, and have one of the highest debuts ever. Sort it by audience as of this morning, it's already 32 after just 1 day! 42 by spins. I'm sure we'll see over 2000 spins in the first week.

It will make the cutoff because the cutoff is Saturday. I think he released it halfway through the week because they knew the first couple of days, it would be played non-stop. If they gave the song a full week, there is no way the second week could hold up and the song would drop. This way, they still have a nice chart debut but with less risk of dropping the second week because the second week is a full week.

At 900+ spins now. I think it will debut top 25 which would be incredible after just three days of airplay.

Garth Brooks Making Music AgainPOSTED: 11:00 am EDT October 6, 2005 NASHVILLE -- The retired guy is making music again. Lyric Street Records is pairing with Anderson Merchandisers to promote the Garth Brooks-Wal-Mart project. There was no word on how extensive that "project" will be. Right now, it's a single titled "Good Ride Cowboy." His spokesman said the song is Brooks' tribute to the late Chris LeDoux. Charlie Anderson of Anderson Merchandisers said it's "the song we've chosen to be the first because it symbolizes the project, which is about love and honesty." Fans have to read into the statement for themselves, as to whether that means a whole CD is coming. Brooks has said in the past that he's retired until his youngest daughter goes into college, which means about 10 more years. www.nbc10.com/entertainment/5065408/detail.html___________________________ Is not Garth Brooks the one having the highest debut ever on the RR Country Chart with "It's Your Song" back in 1998. Can't remember where it debuted. Where will "Good Ride Cowboy" most likely debut? Top 40, 30, 20, 10, 5???

My country radio station said that he is releasing a CD in a few months that will be full of previous songs that were never released (along with this song). What is this from?? I thought Garth was no longer recording?

Garth debuted on RR at some riduclous number at #4 or something, but remained there the next 2 or 3 weeks, then dropped, and only spent like 6 weeks on the chart if I remember correctly. He debuted at about 30 on BB, then zoomed to 9, I think the quickest climb in top 10. I'm still not sure at all how he debuted that high on RR

If the album is songs off of his albums that were not released I have my ideal track listing:
1. Everytime That It Rains 2. I've Got A Good Thing Going 3. Alabama Clay 4. New Way To Fly 5. Victim Of The Game 6. Burning Bridges (may have been released??) 7. Cold Shoulder 8. Dixie Chicken 9. The Night I Called The Old Man Out 10. The Red Strokes (not released in the U.S. although a video was) 11. I Don't Have To Wonder ( a video was made for this song but it was never released.)
The Red Strokes is by far my favorite song by Garth that was not released. It's great to have him back although on first listen to this I am not too impressed. But maybe it will grow on me.

The radio DJ's left me with the impression that these songs were recorded but never printed to CD. They used the phrase "old material" It's great to have Garth back! I believe when that song came out, RR was using projected playlists for the upcoming week instead of using spins from the previous week, which may explain the huge debut.

This song will be included in his upcoming box set that will sold at Wal Mart, and included in that will be unreleased material.

Garth breaks own record
-- After a scant four days of airplay, Garth Brooks' single, "Good Ride Cowboy," a tribute to the late Chris LeDoux, amassed more than 14 million audience impressions between Thursday and Sunday, debuting on the country radio chart at No. 18.
According to Billboard, Brooks' quick start breaks the record for high debuts on the country chart during the Broadcast Data Systems monitored airplay era, set when his 1991 single, "The Thunder Rolls" opened at No. 19.

That's fitting. And Billboard used audience impressions when "The Thunder Rolls" debuted as well, making the comparison totally parallel.

Holy hell. Up to 24.0 million in audience on MB, and 2300+ spins. And it has yet to chalk up its first full week yet (tomorrow morning's MB update).
Looks to be on track to make the rare "in-the-top-ten-in-two-weeks" move, either right above or right below Kenny, on next week's Billboard chart. Depending on M Gentry's plunge, that could be in the #7 to #9 range.
This one won't pull a It's Your Song and flame out immediately, will it?

Final "first full week" numbers: 2699 spins and 27.6 mill audience. I might print out and save a screen shot of that Mediabase chart, as it should be a loooong time before we see similar numbers like that again.

Didn't Cry or I'm Gonna Getcha Good! have similar large gains? I guess loooong time must mean 3 years. ;)

Garth's nearly 2700 is by far the biggest bullet I've ever seen on the country chart. I've only heard this a couple of times, but I really don't like it. My guess is that it'll peak in the next 3-5 weeks, stalling out around #5, then dropping fairly quickly.

'Live Like You Were Dying' needed a mere 7 weeks to reach the penthouse; let's see how long this song takes.
