Will not watch. Radio has been behind the times with the public since CC took over all of the radio stations.

Didn't there used to be a Radio Music Awards show? Maybe this is the revamp of it just like Billboard did in 2011.

This is so silly. We don't need ANOTHER music award show... Music and performers need as many public platforms as they can get.

Some POP/CHR artists will almost feel forced to attend this as to not get sabotaged in the future.
Clear Channel has too much Power.

Music and performers need as many public platforms as they can get. Then call it a televised music festival or a "Best of 2013" or something like that. You can have a television special that promotes music without it being an award show... This. Thing is, iHeartRadio already has a festival and this award show can't really improve on the effort they put into that, and then the awards are completely unnecessary b/c they will just give them to the same 10 artists we've been hearing for the past year and who don't even need this one last drop of promo. So this whole idea is just redundant. Also agreed that too many pop artists are going to feel obligated to attend this out of fear of being blackballed but I guess the silver lining is that it at least ensures this doesn't turn into the music version of the People's Choice Awards.

Tons of Urban and Alternative stations use iHeartRadio, where have y'all been in AL. You know we get everything ten years later down here. Music, fashion trends, Adele's album, civil rights...

translation: Billboard can only change its chart rules. Clear Channel can actually change your career's existence.
In seriousness, Billboard will likely lose on most of the biggest acts, but the BMAs can probably secure a few 'headliner' names and cushion them with pop B/C listers and more non-crossover acts (ex., Kendrick Lamar might not have as much to lose by not doing iHeart as say, Drake), so it could work out for both shows in the end.

I'm surprised Katy isn't using this as an opportunity to perform "Birthday."
