I'm delighted that they'll be opening next Sunday's ACM telecast with this rousing number, and I'm looking forward to it going on to become one of the biggest hits of the summer; having already reached the mid-twenties on the chart with 25% of the panel yet to add it isn't too shabby, a number which figures to plunge over the next two weeks.
Hopefully we'll get a new CD from these wonderful folks sometime this fall if they chose not to release a 5th single from this ridiculously loaded CD, although I remain thoroughly disgusted that it's not up for Album Of The Year, and wasn't nominated last year from the folks at the CMA Awards in the same category.

The Band Perry is the best country artist who has a single out right now (I would say Carrie, but unfortunately no new music from her yet...) Their albums are both amazing! The first one will most likely always be my favorite, just because I fell in love with it, and I still listen to it on repeat! This album was also great, and I hope that they will continue on with their success in the future! Hopefully they can be like Carrie and become a well-known artist outside of country, I know they had If I Die Young, but I want them to have more than one pop hit to solidify their popularity among all music listeners! :)

Sales haven't quite caught up yet (hoping that it outsells DLMBL and can manage to go Gold at least), but this appears to be an airplay monster at the moment. I've definitely been enjoying hearing this song on the radio. The instrumentation and lyricism on this one are definitely refreshing on the airwaves, which is nothing new for The Band Perry.

TBP is really lucking out here. The ACM performance came at the perfect time, as this was nearing the top 20 and still not in the top 400 on iTunes, so I think the ACM performance gave the song a sales boost just around the time it probably would have started to slow down on the charts. Now, even if sales do continue to taper off, TBP should easily make its way into the top 10 since there are no other big names around them on the charts right now. "Chainsaw"'s competition includes songs from new artists like Tyler Farr and Craig Campbell and older artists who never really became consistent hit-makers like Craig Morgan and Sara Evans (whose current singles might not have much more life left in them). Billy Currington and Jake Owen are catching up to TBP (who already passed them a few weeks ago), but I still think The Band Perry is a bigger name at radio and Billy has had a very slow climb and Jake Owen's song has awful Callout scores, so Chainsaw seems to be benefiting from good timing right now. I still don't think this will go to #1, but a top 10 peak seems pretty likely at this point.

I don't consider myself to be a TBP fan at all, and I didn't enjoy this at all at first. Now, I've kind of fallen in love with this. I love Kimberly's voice specifically on the verses and the lyrics are witty and clever. It might be a little loud and Kimberly does scream a bit, but I think the uniqueness of the song makes up for it.
It's currently #48 on the iTunes Country Chart behind songs like "We Are Tonight", "I Got A Car", "Hope You Get Lonely Tonight", "Dust", etc. "Chainsaw" flew past all these songs airplay-wise, but its sales have been disappointing so far. I just hope "Chainsaw" can improve its sales enough and keep the trio's momentum up for "Pioneer" to be released as the fifth single to close out the era.

I think it's a little unfair to hold the lower sales against this one, though. It is, after all, the 4th single from an album that's been out for more than a year now. The later releases from albums don't tend to sell as well, unless of course the artist is red hot like Luke or FGL.
A lot of people probably already own the Pioneer album, or cherry-picked the songs they wanted, so they have no need to re-buy "Chainsaw".
Furthermore, this sound isn't exactly what's popular with consumers these days. I think it's doing well at radio largely because they have a strong label behind them, and several of the other popular groups (Lady A, ZBB, LBT) don't have singles out right now. TBP also had some pretty good timing with this release...it came out just after new singles from Miranda and Luke, but far enough ahead of the new releases from Brad, Blake, Dierks, and others. The Vocal Group of the Year win is also probably helping.
Some of the songs they've passed--those from Lee, EYB, Chris, and Joe--simply started off slower from the get-go. Hunter's was never going to be a big hit and Jake's is pretty polarizing so it's had some slower weeks. And of course George's climb has been well-documented...
I think this has a good shot at #1, or at least the top 3. It might struggle to become a Gold-selling single but that won't bother me. It's testing very well with listeners.

This one has really hit a brick wall. I'm sure it'll peak in the top 10 yet but I am really doubting its #1 chances now, and that's strange because, despite being a 4th hit, "Chainsaw" had moved up quickly and found itself looking like an obvious future #1 in the face of a weak chart. But instead of keeping its position, this one has let 3 others (Craig Campbell, Jake Owen, and Tyler Farr) re-pass it, and the gains have slowed to a trickle. Blake, Brad, and Chris Young are coming up quickly as well.
If this had kept up its rate of gain, it might be right on the heels of Keith and Justin, perhaps 10 million or more ahead of Blake, and maybe ~8 million behind Miranda. That would've been a great place to be in, because looking at the songs between Miranda and Blake, it's hard to find too many future #1 contenders. Justin Moore might get there, but only because Keith and TBP have slowed to a crawl (or started in reverse, in Keith's case). Jake has a good chance to get there but his song didn't catch fire until a couple weeks ago, so if TBP had kept moving up strongly, they'd still be well ahead of "Beachin'". Tyler Farr had a good week but I can't see him getting all the way to #1, and Billy Currington is really racking up the weeks now.

It could simply be that the label is spending time right now pushing FGL instead to get them a 5th #1. FGL has a big ad in Billboard's country update this week promoting it. I'd be surprised if the label gives up on Chainsaw after only 12 weeks on, especially given that the video just got released today. Republic Nashville does a great job promoting their roster as a whole, they have a real knack for doing the right thing in the right order to give as much life as possible to every single released by them.

That may have some to do with it, that the necessity to push TBP song isn't a top priority right at this moment for the label, and I don't think "Chainsaw" is about to be done and abandoned by the label, but jhomes87 was just pointing out that it's slow down could spell trouble for this one going all the way to the top. It's sales are pretty low, just as they were with their last single, so that could hold back their airplay a bit as they continue further up the chart. I still see it going at least Top 5, though I love this song and very much want to see it reach the top.

Yeah, I don't think this is about to peak or anything like that. I was just pointing out my surprise at how this has stalled out pretty badly over the last 2 weeks. I'm sure it will peak in the top 10 but I don't think its chances of hitting #1 are very high anymore, whereas just 2-3 weeks ago it looked like it might have a pretty clear path (it was really the only song in its "neighborhood" on the chart, so to speak, that was doing well)

I've only heard this song a couple of times, but the thing I most noticed is that Kimberly makes a lyric out of taking a heavy breath and saying "well", as she does in almost all of their previous singles. I wish that were something she rarely did on certain songs, because in my opinion it loses its effect when it's expected from her. The song is catchy. Not a favorite of mine, but certainly not a station changer either.

It's been overtaken by a slew of mediocre and extremely narrowly-themed tune lacking in diversity and/or originality 'bro-country' tunes which are sailing up the charts as they have been for the past couple of years as if it were 2002 and Tim, Toby, Alan, George, Brooks & Dunn, Martina, Keith & Brad were soaring up the charts just as fast with substantially better material performed by substantially better vocalists and written by too many upper echelon tunesmiths to count.
And then there's 'I Got A Car', which is an entirely different matter, yet equally victimized by this inundation of underwhelming tunes, a high percentage of which show little originality or any resemblance of a thought-provoking story, or at least a presentation of a much-visited theme in country music over the years as exemplified by King George's latest masterpiece without juvenile lyrics more appropriate for a tune from 'Animal House' or most any Adam Sandler movie.
It won't be the first standout tune which has been reduced to being an also-ran on the charts; there have been plenty of similar episodes at other formats for decades, but country radio always seemed to be a cut above such narrow-minded nonsense.
Or at least it used to be.

Honestly, I find Kimberly's performance to be far weaker here than on a song like "DONE." or "You Lie". Sounds like she's trying to hard to re-create those songs.

But isn't an Easter egg something that's kind of a hidden secret for people to discover, not something that's expected and heard in every song? Different strokes for different folks.

I really would love to fully enjoy The Band Perry's music, but I just can't. "Chainsaw" is wearing on me quite quickly the way that "You Lie", "All Your Life", "Postcard From Paris" and even "Done" did (though the melody was pretty strong IMO with that song). I completely understand that many enjoy their music and many love Kimberly's personality and vocal performances. Unfortunately she's not in my favorite female vocalists, in fact she's not really in my top 10. I do echo jaseboyhyde's sentiments about the breathing. The chorus in "Chainsaw" has a nice progression but it falls short with the "sittin' on a stump" line and I don't feel the execution was pulled off. Like Jason said, different strokes for different folks. I did enjoy "If I Die Young" and "Don't Let Me Be Lonely" but more times than not they miss for me than hit. I really have tried to avoid saying anything negative about their music because I'm clearly in the minority.

Differing opinions are ALWAYS welcome on this board, and have been for ages.
I still feel that Kimberly's a superb asset for this format, and their performance of 'Chainsaw' as the opening presentation on the ACM Awards telecast was a well deserved honor in recognition of their enormous accomplishments in 2013 on the charts.
Her ability to absolutely snarl at the behavior of certain members of the male species in an all-too-convincing manner that would make Miranda, Gretchen, or other kicka** fire & brimstone female singers of an earlier era in country music (think Tanya Tucker for openers) run for the hills, only to be able to seamlessly turn around and fondly evoke heartfelt warmth in wonderful songs such as 'Mother Like Mine' speaks to her versatility in being to sing about anything under the sun, and do so convincingly.
This should make the top ten sometime next month, but how much higher it rises after that is anybody's guess.
