That's one of my favorite parts about this song and I love it in the others as well. It's like a nice little Easter egg for TBP fans. I can see how fans of the Band Perry would enjoy that. But isn't an Easter egg something that's kind of a hidden secret for people to discover, not something that's expected and heard in every song? Different strokes for different folks. It's not like it's the same thing in every song. In "DONE." it was the ugh! and in this it's a well!. And tbqh those are the only two I can think of at this moment...

Different strokes for different folks. It's not like it's the same thing in every song. In "DONE." it was the ugh! and in this it's a well!. And tbqh those are the only two I can think of at this moment... I can think of 5 singles off the top of my head where a big, breathy "Well" has been prominent as a lyric. If I die young: The "oh well" became "Well!!". You lie: "well" is a supplemental lyric in several places, and also becomes a breathy "well!!" a couple of times. Better Dig Two: "well" is prominent again. Big breathy "well"s tucked here and there. Chainsaw: You agree it's in there Done: Not sure about the album cut, but there's a couple of "well, I" before the chorus on the performances I've seen. For the record, the live performance on the award show last year was really good, and again this is a dang catchy tune. I can't think of any of their other singles off hand, but the "well" as a lyric has jumped out to me in each one so that I expect it. It's the reason I can't love "Chainsaw", which is a really catchy song. Like I said, it's just a personal thing, it doesn't I think everyone needs to be bothered by it.

I don't think this is completely done yet, but it's got a -12 bullet on Mediabase today. This one got off to such a great start considering it was the 4th release from the album, but then it just ran into a brick wall around the #12 spot, and one by one, a bunch of songs that it had passed--"We Are Tonight", "Who I Am With You", "Keep Them Kisses Comin'", "Beachin'", and "Whiskey In My Water"--were all able to easily re-pass "Chainsaw".
Their single sales have been very, very poor too. Even "Don't Let Me Be Lonely" has only sold about 260k total which is about the lowest sales total I've seen for a #2 hit in at least a couple years. "Chainsaw" has never really gotten above #40 on the iTunes country chart. I think it has the worst sales per spin ratio of any song on the airplay chart right now.
I think this can probably limp into the top 10 in a few weeks but I doubt it goes top 5. Then again, this is Republic that we're dealing with, and I wouldn't put it past them to somehow push such a low-selling single toward the top of the chart. Back before labels manipulating radio was so rampant, this would probably peak around #8 or #9.
Here's its Billboard chart run so far:
50-52-38-34-27-23-20-20-14-12-12-14-13-13-12
For the week when it moved 20-14 (chart from Monday April 21), "Chainsaw" was ahead of Tyler Farr by 1 million, Jake Owen by 3 million, Billy Currington by 3.3 million, Chris Young by 6.5 million, and Blake Shelton was 10.4 million behind. Also, Joe Nichols was 7.3 million behind and Brad was 8.3 million behind.
Now Blake is 6 million ahead, Tyler is 6 million ahead, Jake is 9 million ahead, and Chris, Craig, and Billy have all sailed ahead as well. And Joe and Brad will probably jump over "Chainsaw" on Billboard very soon.

This one has really seemed to hit a big brick wall. I'd like to see it sneak into the top 10, and think that it will, but its sales are not promising at all. I still think that "Forever Mine Nevermind" was the better single choice, but who knows if that would be seeing a similar fate. While they're still doing well, their momentum has dropped off considerably from their last album. Which is too bad, because I actually prefer Pioneer to their debut.

I love Pioneer as well and I think the singles choices have all been perfect. It's disappointing how their last two singles have failed to spark any interest in the sales department to match their quickly rising star profile. I was expecting this era to be a whole lot bigger than it has been, but I'm sure they'll bounce back in a big way with their next lead single from a fresh album, which is what I gather would be their next release since the current performance of "Chainsaw" doesn't look promising for anything else from Pioneer at this point.

I'm still thinking that they might release a fifth single, but it could be smart not to. They could still release "Forever Mine Nevermind" or throw out something completely different like "Mother Like Mine", "I Saw A Light" or "Pioneer". A new single flopping could hurt them though, so I could also see them moving on from the album.

The Band Perry's 8th top 10 on Billboard Country Airplay! You're right. However, the Band Perry would have a perfect track record at country radio as far as top tens are concerned if Hip To My Heart did not peak at #20 in 2010.

I've followed the Billboard Country Airplay chart since Jan. 1990. I have almost every chart since then. Missing a few and have almost every song that's appeared on the chart in the top 40.

I have them all in their own little binders sorted by decade. I just write down the top 40 songs. I grew up listening to Bob Kingsley's American Country Countdown and now sadly I don't get to listen to him since I work. I always enjoyed the interviews with the artists and stories about the songs. He was one of my favorite radio countdown personalities the other being the late Casey Kasem.

Now, it takes Kix Brooks half a week to count down the top 30 songs and he plays random songs throughout the show. Getting back to the Band Perry, I hope Chainsaw hits the top so I can add them to the list of those artists with the most #1s. They should be the 122nd artist to do so after Jake Owen becomes the 121st next week (I hope).

It's basically play as many recent recurrents as possible and sprinkle in some of the top 30 songs every now and then.

Their next chart-topper will more than likely be the lead single from album #3.

I notice this has lost 2 million in Audience since Sunday. Will this go recurrent on Billboard?
The sales are horrible (#195 on iTunes), so BMLG is just wasting money if they want to force radio to play this more.

Bob Kingsley's countdown airs over 175 times per weekend on tons of country stations throughout the USA and Canada, so 45devour and the rest of us should be able to listen to it every weekend online
FYI, the first airing is every Friday evening from 6-10 PM (EDT)on FX101.9 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, while the final airing that I know of takes place on Sunday evenings at 8PM on legendary KMPS/Seattle.
Nice to have these folks back in the top 10 again, so with any luck I hope this can reach #1 sometime next month.

This has been struggling for weeks and based on the drops it's taken in the past day or two, this one looks done to me. It snuck into the Top 10, but that's about all it could do, it seems.

It's lost a bunch of audience this week, but it's still gaining spins overall, so my guess is that it's the westwood one satellite mediabase-only station that's cutting back on airplay here. I'm at the lake on my phone so I can't check right now, but thats my guess. In any case tho this does look to be about done.

This song can't be sent to recurrent status next week, whether or not it loses audience, and whether or not it loses spins (which it doesn't appear to be losing). It's only in chart week 20, so it would need to be working on its third consecutive bulletless week. But it hasn't even posted one bulletless week so far, so it's going to stay on.
It will have to show some good signs soon or it will be sent recurrent the following week.
Sorry if I'm repeating what someone else said, but I read through the thread twice and didn't find anybody saying this.

I wonder if they ll bother releasing a 5th single off Pioneer after the disappointing sales of their last two singles. My favorite song left on the album is the phenomenal Back To Me Without You, but I feel that after the uptempo Chainsaw, if they want a 5th single, they should release something like the title track, but I don't know how that one'd do.

I would've loved to see this era go 5 singles deep, but after the underwhelming sales of the last two and seeing this one peak a little lower on airplay as well, I don't think there's a reason to bother with another single from Pioneer. I loved the album and had expected the singles to do much better from it, but I'm always looking forward to their next record.

The bottom has fallen out on "Chainsaw" this week, so after a 20-week chart run up to #10, look for TBP to go recurrent on Monday's Billboard chart.
This is the Billboard chart run for "Chainsaw" and it should be final:
50-52-38-34-27-23-20-20-14-12-12-14-13-13-12-14-12-11-10-10
It got to the top 20 quite quickly but then just spent forever in the 12-14 range. It seemed to be pretty popular on several of the callout surveys we see but it's basically had the worst sales per spin ratio of any top 40 song for the last 3-4 months so I'm sure that held it back. Plus, their last single didn't sell all that well either, and their album hasn't been selling much on a weekly basis for quite some time now.
I suppose Republic could go with a 5th single but I bet they'll take a month or two off and come back with a lead single later this summer or early fall. I think that would be in TBP's best interest at this point. Has anyone heard anything about new music from them (whether they've been writing or in the studio)?

I believe Rolling Stone had a piece in June about them being back in the studio, so I would suspect a lead single in the next two or three months. :) Edit: Here's the link

Aww...I wanted to hear "Pioneer" on the radio. :(
Oh well, I guess it's best for them to head back to the drawing board and do it all over again. I was really happy to see them getting some success during this era and I would more than love for them to keep getting it.

No 5th single planned as of right now, look for a break from the charts for awhile before the lead single of album 3 hits.
