I love her sassyness in Loverboy video. The song is ok, not her best but definitely not her worst either.

I just came across this video where she lists her favorite track from each of her albums from her debut to E=MC^2.

^Didn't know that about "And You Don't Remember"- and that interview looked from the 2000s-beyond.
I wonder if some of them still hold true for her- she said that about "Vanishing" around the time of the debut's release, and said it was one of her favorites from the debut back around 2009- but then why hasn't she performed the dang gem in eons?

If someone names X-Girlfriend as her worst song, I will cut off a horse's head and leave it on your porch. #ThankYouMuch
BOY for the win. I do not know what her label was thinking allowing that on the album. That's some s**t you would put on a mixtape.
ETA I love to touch myself during LOVERBOY win she says "I want a sugar daddy/take me for a ride/when he invites me over/I cum every time!" - That line right there makes that song a stone grove smash hit wonder.

Emotions is quickly becoming my top 3 favorite MC albums. Nice!! It warms my heart when I see people appreciating Emotions. I have always loved it; in fact, for awhile, when I was starting to get into Mariah's music, Emotions was my favorite album of hers. I think that album is kind of the underdog of her pre- Butterfly records, which is a shame because it has some of her greatest, most haunting ballads, plus the uptempos are pretty danceable. Needless to say her vocals were killer, as well, and she was still in my personal favorite MC vocal phase. Emotions is just a perfect soul album.

Late to the party per usual, but I wanted to throw some commentary.
I love "Loverboy" for its campiness, and for the HOT as fuck remix featuring everyone and their mom and the pow David Morales and Mj Cole remixes.
I got love for B(INY) because I love the video, and I think the direction was different for her artistically.

Lady Antebellum was asked about songs that remind them of their first love, and Hilary Scott mentioned "Always Be My Baby" www.facebook.com/video.php?v=810576702326441I love how Charles started doing the "do do do" part when she said the song; that melody is iconic. Not that Mariah ignores the song, but she needs to hit it even harder considering everyone knows and likes the song. Lady A also covered "AIWFCIY" on their Christmas album, so they seem to be Mariah fans.

I love the "Loverboy" video. I can see why it's divisive, but I love that Mariah just went for it on that video.
Charmbracelet has some great melodies and even production; it's just that the vocals brought it down. I could never eliminate it from her catalog because of "Clown," "You Had Your Chance," and "Sunflowers."

Emotions is quickly becoming my top 3 favorite MC albums. Quickly? It's been out for over 20 years! LOL! You must be a new fan. Anyway, I do love the old-school soul vibe of the album. The Philly soul vibe of the uptempos (especially "Emotions" and "To Be Around You") is infectious, and the classic soul balladry of songs like "Can't Let Go" and "If It's Over" is stunning. "Til The End of Time" is epic, and I love that she went for something like "The Wind." I just came across this video where she lists her favorite track from each of her albums from her debut to E=MC^2. She has said different songs for some at different times (of course there is the "one of" notation and I love the comment about the Butterfly faves), but the ones mentioned in the video: Mariah Carey - "Vanishing" Emotions - "And You Don't Remember" Music Box - "Anytime You Need A Friend" (loooove that NBC performance of it) Daydream - "Underneath The Stars" Butterfly - "Butterfly" Rainbow - "Crybaby" Glitter - "Loverboy" and "LNADJSML" Charmbracelet - "I Only Wanted" and "My Saving Grace" TEOM - "Fly Like A Bird" E=MC2 - "Last Kiss" I think it's interesting most of them are ballads considering how she has talked about fighting the image of being a ballad singer.

I see they are thirsty to make it on tour, Mimi should bring them with her! I'm getting them starting off the show with "Thirsty" the marching band does what they did there, Mimi drops in from above beat to the heavens and the show will start with a bang.

LOL at you all thinking I'm a new fan. I've been obsessed with Emotions for 17 years but I always ranked Music Box, Daydream, and Butterfly above it. Now that I'm older I can appreciate it more. ;)

If the tour started with that mess, I might walk out before Mimi drops in. Just kidding- I wouldn't walk out. But, to my ears, that. was. a. mess.

It is CRIMINALLY underrated. It has EVERYTHING you want from an MC album, and the vocals are just to die for (as always). I usually put it into higher rotation this time of year too. The Wind + a cool fall night + a cup of tea...chile I'm getting chills just thinking of it!!

Oh I hated Loverboy from the second it came out and it NEVER grew on me. It just felt like there was no melody and was just a big chaotic mess. However, the jams by her I LOVE are:
-Dreamlover -Fantasy -Heartbreaker -My All -We Belong Together -I Stay in Love With You (Remix - forget which one, but its pretty killer)

#1s is currently top 10 on iTunes in Germany. That's incredible. The album is almost 20 years old! She's a sales tour de force! I really wish The Elusive Chanteuse sales would climb. Maybe Def Jam should discount it.

I remember when E=mc2 came out she always said ISIL was her favorite off the album. Funny it's not mentioned there

As a new Mimi fan, I've been spinning her albums all summer and have finally ranked them...
Flawless 1. Butterfly (Title track and "Whenever You Call" are perfect) 2. Daydream (Extremely close second, arguably her most consistent) 3. The Emancipation of Mimi (An excellent contrast to her '90s material)
Great 4. E=MC² ("Migrate," "I Stay In Love," and "Bye Bye" are JAMS) 5. Music Box (Cheesy, but feel-good; "Hero" slays)
Good 6. Emotions (Title track always makes me smile; ballads are excellent) 7. Mariah Carey (Classic and nostalgic) 8. Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse (Lots of quality songs)
OK 9. Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel (Weaker version of E=MC²) 10. Rainbow (I spin "Can't Take That Away" like crazy though) 11. Charmbracelet (Forgettable apart from "Through the Rain")
I know I already gushed a few pages back about my newfound fandom, but I seriously can't get over how talented this woman is. So. Many. Good. Songs.

Had she released this tracklisting for MEMOIRS and kept it nice and tight like Butterfly and promoted the way it was intended to be, I think it could've been a true match to her magnum opus that is Butterfly. What do you think?
Memoirs 1. Obsessed 2. Betcha Gonna Know 3. Hate You 4. Candy Bling 5. Skydiving 6. Inseperable 7. Ribbon 8. It's a Wrap (feat. Mary J Blige) 9. Angels Cry 10. Hate You Remix (feat. Oj da Juiceman. Big Boi & Gucci Mane) 11. I Want To Know What Love Is 12. Languishing
