Yes they did, and had it in Medium rotation for a while. In fact they still play it every now and then as a recurrent. Nice. We should just move to Rochester! Batavia is probably a little closer to Rochester than Buffalo, but pretty much right in between the two cities. I just heard Home Sweet Home while driving this morning on WBEE. In fact, I remember "Be Grateful" being in medium rotation on WBEE as well when that single was out.

To be fair to WYRK, they added "Be Grateful" but they designated it to the overnight hours and only played it during the day on weekends. "Kiss You Tonight" recently has been on the same cycle for them though they might have bumped it up to weekday daytime spins but I'm not positive on that.

Kiss You Tonight I believe is currently in light to medium rotation on WBEE (15 spins). WBEE always seems to have broader playlists than WYRK and WBBS out of Syracuse. I wonder why WBEE never gets nominated for station of the year at the awards show and WBBS and WYRK regularly do.

I wonder why WBEE never gets nominated for station of the year at the awards show and WBBS and WYRK regularly do. I have no idea why either. Perhaps it has something to do with Townsquare Media which owns WYRK or the fact they've had long lasting DJ's there (Clay Moden, Dale Mussen, Wendy Lynn, Bret Alan). But WBEE has had some long lasting regulars too. Is it ratings? You're absolutely right on WBEE having a broader playlist than WYRK. Some of the recurrents I've heard on WBEE over the past year have been "Georgia Peaches", "Findin' A Good Man", "Guys Like Me", "Tough" by Craig Morgan, "What Kinda Gone", "Johnny And June", "I'm Alive", "I Wonder" and "Back When I Knew It All" to name a few. WYRK has some songs that are refreshing to hear every now and then (they did play "Her Man" by Gary yesterday for example), but compared to WBEE, it's not even close. BTW: "Kiss You Tonight" has been updated to the weekday time spins on WYRK, still at light rotation though at 12 spins this past week.

This song just hasn't clicked with me. I appreciate David's great vocals and I certainly understand why people like it, but I can't help but feel a bit underwhelmed by the song. The verses are great and sound like they're building up to something bigger. Then the chorus hits and it's kind of a disappointment in my opinion.
I would have preferred "Broke My Heart" or the great "When They're Gone (Lyle County)". I think they would be doing a little better by now compared to "Kiss You Tonight", but David was going to have a slow climb no matter what song came after "Whatever She's Got."
I'm still rooting for "Kiss You Tonight" to be a hit for David because this song is still a pleasant listen and David has all the talent in the world. It's at #32 in its 19th week on the Billboard Airplay Chart. "Whatever She's Got" was #27 after 19 weeks and that hit #1, but WSG also took off in a way that KYT hasn't yet and I'm not sure ever will.

This song seems to test very well with the radio listening audience. It's been top 5 on Callout America for months now. Hitting #1 again this past week. It also has been top 15 on Radio Feedback. But it's a clogged chart for B list artists - they have all been struggling for weeks - as A listers put out songs that rush up the charts and On The Verge creates opportunities for new artists to do the same. Meanwhile David N, Scottie M, Kacey M, Cassadee P, John Pardi, Gloriana struggle to move up the charts only to be passed once more by an A lister.

I didn't see the date and stop listed, but yesterday I heard on a local radio station that he's going to play at a casino in Sioux City, Iowa, sometime in October. I was particularly interested because his openers for that show will be Craig Campbell and Charlie Worsham...now those are 3 artists that I would really love to see! Unfortunately I won't be in the midwest anymore at that time, and none of the I'm A Fire tour dates come anywhere close to Arizona :( But hopefully I can catch him some other time!

Guess who got the Cumulus block. ;)
16 new adds for David this week. It's also up nearly .500 in audience on MB since Sunday morning.

Hoping this can be a slow burner Top 10. This song has a wonderful lush production that reminds me somewhat of The Mavericks and a tight lyric.

^I absolutely loved that. I don't know if this means they are thinking of releasing it as the third single, but I think it would catch the attention of listeners. This song just pulls you in and makes you listen to each and every word. "The Secret" has always been my favorite song from I'm A Fire.
Funny, I just happened to check my iTunes playlist and realized that "The Secret" is my #2 most played song...and 7 of his other songs are in my top 10 most played. How he hasn't gotten more attention at mainstream radio (other than "Whatever She's Got") is beyond me.
edit: I just remembered he's going to be near me in San Antonio next month...just got tickets!

To those that manage to catch him on this next tour, I'm so excited for you. I saw him in Seattle last October and he was PHENOMENAL. He's got a great way of interacting with the audience, too.
Anyways, I saw his video of "The Secret" (Acoustic) posted above and am more confident than ever before in saying that he's the most talented male artist in the genre today. His voice is stellar, his music is all great (to say the least), and he's amazing live. Such a performer, such an artist. Can't get enough. I'm really pulling for him to finally break through and STAY through, rather than have the rare and occasional hit and then fade into obscurity for another period of time. He deserves some big, big success.

With tonight's update, Kiss You Tonight is now at #29 on Mediabase Country Charts right behind Scotty. The question is whether it can now make the next big move.

And to think one can find it from time to time in the $1 bin locally here in Nashville ;) That's certainly where I found it.

I don't have a local record store, but I find odd things all the time in the flea market and thrift stores. In fact, I think the David Nail unreleased CD came from a local thrift store.
The flea market also had River Road's unreleased second album, but the disc wasn't in the box. Shame.

Do you guys think he'll ever reach that A-list of male artists in country music? He has the greatest voice and puts out great music, I just don't hear anything on the album that would be a huge song for him (not because of quality). From my radio insiders, at least what I've been told, the reason David doesn't get as much airplay as some of the other artists is the fact that he's a real a-hole. Just stating what I've been told from SEVERAL people in radio. Being an a-hole is never going to fly when part of being a star is having that likeable quality to you! BUT, with that being said, even those in radio still can't deny the man's talent. He's incredible and by far one of the BEST vocalists in Country Music. I do wish there were a different outcome for Mr. Nail, but he's done pretty well for himself considering.

David has recently opened up about his battle with anxiety and I have no doubt that could play into radio programmer's perception of him. I'm also speaking from experience as coming from someone who also battles social anxiety I can tell you people easily wrongly accuse me of the same. It's not that we're being a-hole's, but I'm sure we pull back and can be standoffish. People such as David (and myself) with anxiety and specifically social anxiety are already judging ourselves enough that the pressure of others doing the same only compounds the thoughts. Well, it's about time. Kiss You Tonight is at #20 on the Mediabase Country chart.
23 20 DAVID NAIL Kiss You Tonight 2781 2664 117 18.686
I wonder where it will be this week on Billboard Country Airplay. Last week it hit 22.

This song has really grown on me, and I've become a big fan of it. It has a nice classic early 2000's sound to it which I appreciate it. I think this has enough gas to get into top 15 before it peaks.
