Good news -- Carrie's opening the ACCAs on the 15th, which means we don't have to watch the show! Looks like she'll open the show with Little Toy Gun. Hopefully Carrie will get that Grammy Country Vocal

I think she'll still do SITW as they're still working that to radio. IMO, the band rehearsal for Little Toy Guns is for the album release party. Also, that promo schedule is awesome! So much more than the usual for a GH set. She's definitely not taking it easy even when >6 months pregnant. And this ad posted here previously? If I had to do that, I would be DEAD... and she did that when she was already pregnant!!!

Is anyone else aside from me curious as to how "Something in the Water" and "Little Toy Guns" would've played a role in Carrie's 5th studio album had she not gotten pregnant and had to release the Greatest Hits album instead? Were these songs going to be on her 5th album? Was SITW going to be the lead single from that album anyway? And why did they choose to include these 2 songs on the GH instead of other ones that would've potentially been on album #5?

Honestly, I don't think we'll know the answers to any of those questions until we hear album #5. My guess is she chose to include these two songs on GH because she wanted to release them somewhere but maybe they weren't fitting with her vision for a full studio album.

My guess is she chose to include these two songs on GH because she wanted to release them somewhere but maybe they weren't fitting with her vision for a full studio album. SITW, in all its amazingness, is also quite polarizing. It makes sense to have it lead into her G.Hits... But if it were on an album, unless if the album was Christian/Gospel, it would seem out of place... Much like "Who Are You" on Blown Away, which kind of felt like a random song stuck at the end just to finish things off. LTG sounds like something that could have easily fit on Blown Away, so I imagine Carrie maybe liked the song, but felt it was too much of a Blown Away rehash, so she put it on G.Hits instead. Just a guess...

I believe Carrie said she loved LTG but didn't feel like it "fit" anywhere, and they still wanted to release it. :) SITW is pretty similar thematically to some of Carrie's past singles, but since she's been moving away from that for the past few lead singles (CC, GG), I wouldn't be surprised if Carrie wants to do something totally different for album #5; a song like SITW wouldn't keep us guessing. My guess is that maybe she wrote these two songs while writing for album #5, but they didn't end up fitting anywhere on the album. She's been working on it since TSOM ended, so my guess is she has a pretty good idea of what she wants to accomplish in terms of sound and song selection. A lot of artists are pitched songs that they love, but decide not to use them on an album in the end. Carrie could have "saved" these, but my guess is her label figured they could release them on a GH to give the fans something to look forward to between eras.

I may be completely mistaken, but I thought I saw "Little Toy Guns" on a list of cowrites that popped up for the Play On era, maybe Blown Away, not sure. But I assume "Little Toy Guns" was one of those gems that got lost in all of the songs that just didn't quite fit on an album. I for one, though, would love an album full of songs similar to "Blown Away" and from the clip, "Little Toy Guns".

What are the chances of Carrie performing at the Grammys? I'd think for the show getting a very pregnant Carrie to sing "SITW" would be tempting, and Catherine Zeta-Jones performed on the Oscars when she was farther along than Carrie will be in early February. I'd think Miranda and Eric will get slots since they each have 4 country nods, but the Grammys love a Carrie performance.

I wouldn't count her completely out as a performer, but it looks like Miranda and Eric, as you said, will represent country. So it's possible, but not likely.

Last year Hunter Hayes, Keith Urban, and Kacey Musgraves all performed in addition to that Haggard/Kristofferson/Nelson/Shelton performance. So, having more than Miranda and Eric isn't out of the realm of possibility. I could also see them asking Carrie to do a tribute of some sort, maybe a medley of "SITW" with another song.

I'm not so much concerned with the Grammys thinking there are too many country slots, in fact I'm positive they would love to have Carrie perform. But I'm not sure if Carrie will be wanting to travel across the country when she's so far along - she may prefer to stay closer to home.

Don't count her out yet. Remember that she's a very hardworking girl. I still think she'll attend and win.

Although I'm not holding my breath, I hope Carrie appears and performs at the Grammy's.
Some of her best performances ever have been on that stage, and that says a lot since she's one of the most consistent live vocalists of the last decade or so.
Before He Cheats (2008) Desperado (2007) Earth Song
Good times. :)

I'm so fucking excited to buy LTG and the demos.
I'll be buying a physical copy eventually, too.
I'm still in love with SITW, and it's become my most-played Carrie song.
It's almost surreal to think Carrie has been around ten years and has grown and accomplished so much.
I've been a fan since Idol, and it almost feels a little emotional, because Carrie's music has been such a big part of my life since AI.
Can't wait to see what amazing gems she gives us in decade two!

"Little Toy Guns"
https%3A//soundcloud.com/manchs/little-toy-guns You guys. This is "Blown Away"-level s**t. If this is any indication of album #5, she's yet to even begin scraping the surface of her best music ever.
I'm floored.

^^ Thanks for posting. I like the song, but am not yet having that 'Blown Away'-esque experience. I really like the melody of the chorus, but LOVE, LOVE, LOVE her smokier lower register during the verses. I've rewound those verses several times already- WOW. :)

Little Toy Guns is great. I still feel like SITW is on another level though - I guess because it's so faith based and I can identify with it a lot more.
I'm assuming it'll be nearing the top of country radio sometime in mid-late January after the freeze?

-"Somethin' Bad" has been named the Tennessee Titans' official theme song for the year. Wait, is this true? That is hilarious. I mean, I can't imagine the team is the one making it official, but it's too funny nonetheless.
