No! Oh i was hoping for "Happens All The Time" or "Trash A Hotel Room". This song is still good but not my favorite. I think it will do well and get him into the top 10 again hopefully.

Very disappointing choice. This song is ok, and it's already grown on me quite a bit since I bought the album, but it's still not among my favorites. Trash a Hotel Room or Empty Beer Cans would've both made much better choices (I'd already conceded that none of the more neo-trad. songs stood a chance at getting released). I'm a bit skeptical about his chances to follow up Up All Night, but hopefully this does well and the wonderful That Man can follow next.

^ Could not have said it better myself. In fact when I saw this thread tonight, I simply said "Ugh...Why". There really isn't a bad song on this album, and I do enjoy this song, but there were easily 4 or 5 better choices than this ("Trash A Hotel Room", "That Man", "Love You From Here", "Write You A Song", Empty Beer Cans"). I wanted "Trash A Hotel Room" next for Summer and then my favorite track from the record "That Man" fourth. If "That Man" is left as an album track I will be pretty damn furious. Not just because I can relate to the subject, but the song itself is extremely well done and full of emotion.
Hopefully this can do well so we can get more singles from this album.

This is decent song, hopefully this can sustain his presence at radio. The album was fantastic. 3rd single should be That Man, then either Trash A Hotel Room or Love You From Here (great fiddle work in this song)

I'm quite happy with this choice. There's songs on the album that I think are better or even more radio friendly, but this is a perfect mix of good /radio friendly. I'm hoping this can be a big hit so they can take a risk and release "That Man" with some radio momentum going.

I still disagree with this single choice. But I must say I'm glad to see a Brice Long co-write.
"Anywhere But Here" or "It's Only Monday" anybody...

The label may not be making some cover art for this fun new single but I did (to use w/single review on Roughstock). What do you think?

I've got to say, I really love this song and I'm perfectly fine with it as the single choice. It got a whopping 50 first-week adds and it's doing pretty solid. I love the guitar riffs mixed with the traditional instruments (the fiddle in the bridge is awesome), and Jon's vocal performance has the perfect amount of energy in it.
Jon is definitely one of my favorite new artists. His sound is different than any other new artist out there. "Missin' You Crazy" is still my favorite single from him but I like "What I Can't Put Down" a bit more than "Up All Night". I finally purchased the album (Amazon MP3 sale) and it's a really, really solid debut.
I think this might wind up becoming his best-performing single on the charts yet.

I think it's a tremendous sign how country radio has embraced this song so far. Each one of Jon's first three singles seems like there's a little more support with each one sent out. "Missin' You Crazy" had a lot of weeks burnt in the mid 40's to mid 30's that proved to hamper it's peak success. "Up All Night" had some good support off the bat, but also had a slow climb. Unlike "Missin' You Crazy" though it was able to nearly become a top 10 single. Now "What I Can't Put Down" seems to be getting off the ground swiftly. I was worried for Jon about his album ever seeing the light of day during the chart rise of his first two singles. Write You A Song is loaded with great songs. I still would have gone with "Trash A Hotel Room" next then "That Man" for next winter, but I'm liking this song with each passing listen.

I know this is still young and likely to recover, but man, a negative bullet already. Can't say I'm that surprised. I cannot believe that passed on "Write You a Song". I may be alone with that, but to me it sounded like guaranteed hit. I hope it doesn't wind up being the "I Hope It Rains" of this album - Complete loss of momentum followed by a perfect fit that radio just won't buy into.

I hope it doesn't wind up being the "I Hope It Rains" of this album - Complete loss of momentum followed by a perfect fit that radio just won't buy into. I think that this song will be fine. It got off to a pretty hot start but now it's having to battle with a lot of other songs, and a lot of those other songs are struggling as well. After all Charlie Worsham, Cadillac Three, Chuck Wicks, Cassadee Pope, David Nail, Natalie Stovall, and Kacey Musgraves all lost small amounts of audience on Monday's Billboard chart, and Gloriana was without a bullet the week before (and barely managed to re-bullet this week). Other like Easton, Parmalee, Maggie, and Kelleigh have been gaining only small amounts as well. Jon's at #45 on BB after only 4 chart weeks, and the only other really young songs are Cassadee's (#43 after 4 weeks) and Brothers Osborne's (#49 after 3 weeks). I think this is a solid single and I'm sure it will pick up yet. I don't really think the bullet is that significant...personally, I never pay much attention to it because it can fluctuate so quickly.

This is one of my favorite songs on the radio right now and WYAS is one of my favorite albums to released this year. Hopefully this does well so That Man can get released because it's probably one of the most well written, and produced songs I've heard in the last 2 years. That Man could either be song of the year or a bust. We'll see.

I still disagree with this single choice. ^ Scrap that. Not that I still don't love "Trash A Hotel Room" and I think it would be great as a single which I do, but "What I Can't Put Down" has really grown on me. I can't help but be a sucker for most of the tracks on Jon's debut album. Easily in my top 3 or 4 singles charting right now and has already surpassed "Up All Night" for me. Still not quite as great as "Missin' You Crazy" which was my third favorite single from all of 2012 behind "Home Sweet Home" by The Farm and "Saturday Night" by Wade Bowen. I also echo jferstler in saying that "That Man" is fantastic. I'm hopeful and somewhat optimistic that it will be the fall/winter single though that all depends on how well "What I Can't Put Down" can perform. Just one of those songs that I can relate to first hand.

I like him, but I've never heard the album. I should give it a listen sometime. I really like this song. The first time I heard it on the radio, his voice and the chorus bothered me. But I heard it since and it's grown on me. It's really catchy and is better than a lot of other male "country" songs that have been plaguing radio.

^ Great video. :)
This song got 14 adds this week and moves to #34 on MB. I'd still like it to have a higher audience than the 4.2 it currently has but I'm sure it will find it's way into more daytime spins in the coming weeks. This is probably my second favorite song out right now behind King George. The instrumentation and catchy vocals are infectious and I will admit I was completely wrong in saying this was the wrong single choice. Jon is also becoming one of my favorite artist in terms of personality and charisma. His sense of humor between him and his road band are great and makes it much easier to root for him, and that wasn't going to be too hard anyway after listening to his album.
Here's hoping that "What I Can't Put Down" at least matches the peak of "Up All Night", and hopefully exceeds it to become his first top 10 single at country radio.

Pretty nasty update for this today with a -65. I looked back at some numbers for "What I Can't Put Down" on MB before this week, and this was moving a bit slower than I originally thought. It's total points gained over the past four weeks is just 360. It's total spins gained over that same amount of time is +113 and only a mere +.700 in audience. The 30's on the Mediabase chart right now is just a cluster of singles that haven't moved much over the past 5-6 weeks (Cassadee, Jon, Kacey, David, Scotty), and you can now add Brothers Osborne and Keith to that mix as well. All 7 of those songs are somewhere between 1055 and 1270 spins and 6.5 and 7.3 in audience. If you take away Keith's, then the spins are between 1207 and 1270. Just a log jam right now. The Band Perry and Jake will go recurrent next Sunday but then we have the debuts from Garth and Jason most likely. Just a swing of one day can cost a song major positioning because of how close these songs are.
Jon's position shouldn't change much on BB with no recurrents (George?). It picked up a little more audience this week but if it takes a step back it won't matter, especially with some high debuts ahead. With this being 18 weeks old, I don't think it's time to give up yet and I expect this to rebound, though it's tough seeing valuable time ticking away for "What I Can't Put Down"--especially since it looked fairly promising at the start.

Heard this for the first time the other day on radio, and I have to say it was a mixed bag for me. I quite enjoyed "Missin' You Crazy" but I never really cared for "Up All Night," and I wasn't sold on this one either. I like the more inherently "country" sound to his music, but his voice just doesn't work for me. I like some nasal twang, but his is just so harsh and to the point of being off-putting imo.

Unfortunately "What I Can't Put Down" looks about done. It's down 130 spins on the MB rolling chart and has lost a good amount of audience since Sunday with -.549. It's 23 weeks old and I think Capitol has decided to let this go judging by the way this song has performed the past couple days. It's MB peak was #31 and it's BB peak was #33.
I personally would have gone with "Trash A Hotel Room" as the follow up to "Up All Night" but this song grew on me immensely - so much so it became one of my top 3 or 4 songs charting this summer. I really hope that Capitol released one more from his album, and by one more I mean "That Man". The problem is that I fear they only would have gone with that song if "What I Can't Put Down" was successful. Now with the third single under performing, I think they will go with the radio friendliest song remaining, or no more singles at all.

Yeah, this is definitely done. Yesterday it lost 10 spins and 158k in audience, but today it really collapsed, losing 127 spins and 373k in audience. I fully expect this to be sent recurrent on Monday's BB chart. It's a real shame, too, because it's a great (actual) country song, and Jon is one of my favorite new artists. I've loved all of his singles so far and the whole album is really good. I have my doubts that they'll go with a 4th single, though..
