I used to hate arctic monkeys when they first came out, I was in high school and absolutely everyone loved them. However my brother got this CD for christmas and its absolutely amazing, I had to immediately put it on my ipod. after years of hating them I was finally turned into a fan!

My ranking: 1. AM 2. Whatever 3. Favourite Worst Nightmare 4. Suck It 5. Humbug
Humbug is a growing pains album and essentially a warmup to Suck It, which, of course, was a warmup to AM, their masterpiece. Fluorescent Adolescent is their best song, which automatically drives their sophomore album up the ranks. The back-to-back debut and sophomore releases call to mind The Strokes, who just slightly tinkered with a winning formula, but not enough to ultimately make a difference. As much as I loved the Monkeys' first two albums, AM continues to blow me away. I love the flirtation with hip-hop and I really hope it continues. Oh...Knee Socks needs to be released. Song is a JAM. I need to see these guys live again. I remember seeing them when they first broke in the US at a small club in Boston. The energy was palpable and they came across like polished vets, which was nothing compared to when they played ACL last fall. One of the highlights of the festival, easily.

Pretty much agree with all of this, except I think FWN is an amazing album even without Fluorescent Adolescent. I'd switch it with their debut for 2nd in the rankings. This album though is pretty much perfect. I've worn out every track at this point (well except maybe Mad Sounds). Arabella pretty much gives me life whenever I need it.

"No. 1 Party Anthem," "Mad Sounds" and "Fireside" are probably my least favorite songs on the album. I wouldn't call them filler or anything, but that particular stretch is the least interesting quarter for me. Everything after (and including) "Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?" is absolutely stellar though.
