Brutal update today on MB for "Keep It To Yourself" as it has a -91 bullet. It's been out for 17 weeks now and it just can't get out of the 30's with all of the songs in that log jam. I'm not sure how this will rebound in the next few days but I'm not liking it's chances right now. I mentioned before (I can't remember what thread), that there would be two or three casualties in the 30-40 range because of the competition and fast rising singles, and Kacey's looks to be one.

A shame, but Kacey basically gave up on this song anyway. Used her Tonight Show appearance (which came at a time when she was also in the news for Crossroads) to showcase "The Trailer Song," and I don't believe there's been a video for this either.

Used her Tonight Show appearance (which came at a time when she was also in the news for Crossroads) to showcase "The Trailer Song," and I don't believe there's been a video for this either. Mercury I believe put effort to get this up the chart though. The chart the past month or two has been incredibly tough on numerous singles including Kacey's (there have been three Mercury promoted singles in the 30's with Easton and Scotty which didn't help either). The label very well could have seen this not doing much more and letting this go this week but I don't know that for sure. The coming days should give us a better indication. Kacey's new music is being highly anticipated but I think that "Keep It To Yourself's" struggles have to do with the clogged chart and the fact that she had little momentum with country radio after "Follow Your Arrow" and the mid 20's peak for "Blowin' Smoke" plus it's a fourth single. I will say I can't wait to hear some new music from her but I wish that her singles off Same Trailer, Different Park would have done better, though I'm not surprised they didn't.

Also, a performance on the Tonight Show was not going to translate to more radio play for this, so I'd hardly call it a waste opportunity. A music video would be wonderful, but as a fourth single, I don't blame them for focusing their time on other things. She's been playing shows in Europe for awhile so I'm sure she's plenty occupied at the moment.

Song is back in the Top 40 on Billboard Country Airplay, up from #41 to #38, and gains her bullet back and audience as well.

How far did this fall? It had gotten as high as #32 so it seems crazy that it could drop all the way out of the Top 40 and still recover. :o

How far did this fall? It had gotten as high as #32 so it seems crazy that it could drop all the way out of the Top 40 and still recover. :o This has probably had the strangest chart run of any song that I can remember, although both Jon Pardi and Brothers Osborne have had some pretty crazy up-and-down 'climbs' as well. Kacey's Billboard chart run so far: 56-56-51-50-50-53-48-43-40-40-36-32-37-36-41-42-42-41-38 On Monday, June 2 (the Billboard chart dated 6/14), KITY climbed 36-32. And it had 4.3 million in audience on that chart. Kacey has 3.733 million in audience on tonight's Billboard chart, so her net loss over the last 7 weeks has been less than 600k, but the song has never been in real jeopardy of going recurrent. It really only got to #32 because of extreme luck. I mean, in most recent weeks, the #32 song has had between 5.5 and 6 million, if not more. Heck, when "Day Drinking" debuted at #32, it debuted with 7.240 million. Big & Rich briefly got pushed back to #32 four weeks ago (Monday June 23, the chart dated 7/5) but they had 8.8 million that week. So it's kind of a perspective thing. KITY has basically been idling while more and more songs have gotten released and have surpassed the 4 and 5 million audience thresholds. In the end, I'm sure y'all can see that that likely doesn't bode well for Kacey and her chart prospects here, unless this song starts stringing together some solid and steady gains. But for now it's still hanging in there, at least.

All Access says the greatest spin contributor is Q106 in Madison, WI. Yes that is right about Madison. From data I read, KKBQ with it's high AI percentage, started giving this song new spins this week. That is helping in it's comeback. But it's really astonishing that +70 overnight and +200 this week, with all it's contributors. That's one heck of a comeback! I know a DJ I talk to around here told me "We've tested her in the area and no one seems to be interested. That's why we don't play her." I guess there are plenty of areas in this Country who are interested though, albeit rather suddenly over the last few weeks.

Why isn't there a video for this song? I don't understand, is Kacey's management even promoting this single? I haven't been following the thread closely, so forgive me if I'm being repetitive. I love Kacey and don't get why she isn't having success- she's got all the right material (although I think "Follow Your Arrow" was fantastic, it probably hurt her), has a great voice and is beautiful (lets not kid ourselves, that always helps). I work in AC radio and one of our sister stations is a country station and the program director said something about her not testing well either. I just don't get it...

UMG must be doing something to help keep this song on radio. It's been on the verge of being taken off life support a couple times now, just to resurrect back from the dead! They seem to be late on making videos for certain artists on their label though.

I gather the label didn't want to bother since it's the fourth single and Kacey appears to be pretty busy lately. It looks like she's either still in or was very recently spending a lot of time in Europe and she should also be going on tour with Katy Perry sometime soon.

Looks like Kacey isn't giving up on this era yet, as she said in the article she's hoping for a 5th single after KITY. In which case, I think her label should do a video for this song soon. I think it could rebound and be a big hit going into the fall with the right promotion.

I don't think it's that confusing. Um...if she's doing that at the expense of her business, then, yes, it's confusing. It's one thing to release some stuff for fans on SoundCloud or whatever, but to give it an actual push AND to perform it instead of your current single on a major talk show is weird. And it's not like she released the single for free...so it wasn't a purely fan friendly exercise anyway.

Good for Kacey for pushing this album and continuing to release singles, despite radio's resistance to her.
It's been far too long since someone has spoken out against the politics and pushed through a project, instead of giving up on it.
I could be wrong, but I've always gotten the feeling that mainstream success for Kacey would be "the cherry on top" for her, and her label understands/supports her intentions. This doesn't seem like a typical career path in that Kacey doesn't NEED radio to make or break her, because she has the support/intentions to do her own thing.

In fairness, the label shouldn't presently have any issues understanding or supporting her intentions because she's still a cash cow and also still immensely valuable from a vanity perspective due to all the press and awards. If those ever faded - and, granted, there's no reason to believe they would - you can bet your ass she'd be sent to every radio station on the planet so that she could smile, laugh, sing, schmooze and pose for pictures.

Do you know if Kacey Musgraves did any meet and greets at the radio stations when her first three singles were out? If so, then Blowin' Smoke and Follow Your Arrow would have been bigger airplay hits!

I do know that she doesn't seem to see schmoozing as a major part of her job and does not excitedly share details and photos of her "radio tours" the way other younger/newer artists do.

Do you know if Kacey Musgraves did any meet and greets at the radio stations when her first three singles were out? If so, then Blowin' Smoke and Follow Your Arrow would have been bigger airplay hits! Kacey's first radio tour stop (to K102 in Minneapolis) got a write-up here. "Merry Go Round" went for adds about a month after that. There is no shortage of video from Kacey's subsequent radio tour on YouTube, but this one posted on 13 September 2013 from KMLE's "Eight Man Jam" and this one posted on 11 December 2013 from KJ-97's Star Party would appear to indicate that she was doing at least spot radio dates through the end of last year, through the run of "Follow Your Arrow." I suppose it violated the rules of synergistic marketing to perform and release "The Trailer Song" while "Keep It to Yourself" was struggling to climb at country radio. But I felt that "The Trailer Song" was a nice musical statement to make at a time when Kacey was going to be getting a fair amount of attention from the debut of her CMT Crossroads with Katy Perry (and ahead of her tour with Katy Perry) -- it sent the message that while Kacey has crossover pop appeal, she remains, unapologetically, a country artist with strong traditional influence in her songwriting and her singing. As @carrieflattsfan pointed out, Kacey's brand extends well outside country radio. So I don't think it's illogical for her (at least at this point) to not let the logic of radio confine her, especially since it wasn't looking at that point that radio was going to jump all over "Keep It To Yourself" anyway. I also appreciate the fact that, instead of re-releasing Same Trailer, Different Park with "The Trailer Song" added on, Kacey and Mercury Nashville are just letting fans buy it as a standalone. It strikes me as a nice way to freshen and extend her current album cycle for fans who have already bought in.

I've always loved this song but in the last 2 weeks it's really clicked with me. I'd like to see this make the top 30 in the next few weeks and then let it drop. In a perfect world this would've been an easy top 10 but I'm being realistic in my hopes and just hoping for what seems acheivabe.
If there's a 5th single like she wants I'm not sure what the best option would be but I'm hoping "Silver Lining" would be their choice. ("Dandelion" for a sleeper choice.)

Silver Lining or bust, but in all honesty a fifth single from this album would just be a total waste imo. I'd prefer that her next single be something brand new from her follow-up album.
