I really like this. I think this song could be the one to break them at radio.

This is a good song, I love their live performance and I think they did a great job on the studio version of the song as well.

Bumping this up, as the audio is up courtesy of All Access. The add date is March 31st.
What struck me is how similar the acoustic version is to the studio version. At the very least it's a nice change of pace from the overproduction of some other charting songs. Not sure though if I like it or not. I still think I prefer "Let's Go There".

"Let's Go There" should've been huge. I think these guys have a boatload of potential even in these "bro country" times. It seems that soulful voices are usually radio poison (oh hi, James Otto), but Brett Eldredge has so far defied the odds there.

Upon first listen before I knew who was singing it, I thought it was a new Toby Keith single. I think this will do better than "Let's Go There" did.

This song is up to #41 on Billboard now, but perhaps most impressive is how it's selling. When I checked last night it was at #40 on the iTunes country chart, and that's higher than almost all songs ranked outside the top 25 on the Billboard airplay chart. Heck, "Chainsaw" was still only #44 on iTunes last night despite having 9x the airplay that "Rum" has.
Swon Brothers were at #89, ZBB at #139, Big & Rich at #69, Parmalee at #79, Kacey at #76, Dan + Shay at #188, Cassadee at #115, Scotty at #116, David Nail at #95, Jon Pardi at #127, Gloriana at #308, Love and Theft at #140, Natalie Stovall at #1080 (yes, you read that right--4 digits), etc. The only songs that were close to "Rum" were Easton's "Clockwork" (#45--radio really should be playing this one a LOT more) and Eric's "Cold One" (already #47 and climbing rapidly). Jerrod's "Donkey" is unfortunately but expectedly selling rather well but at #84, it's still quite far below "Rum".
Again, all of these were iTunes positions as of last night so they've probably fluctuated a bit since then but I usually check once a week and "Rum" has been out-performing all other songs with similar airplay levels, and also doing way better than songs in the 30's at radio, and even better than some in the 20's and teens. "Rum" has been well ahead of the pack for weeks and continuing to trend upward. It sold just over 5,000 downloads last week according to an ad in Aircheck but that makes for a very high sales per spin ratio, given its current airplay level.

Count me as a fan of this one. Can't wait for the full cd on Tuesday. They don't have an album coming out Tuesday. There is another band called The Osborne Brothers that is releasing an album. Brothers Osborne won't release an album until after this song (or a different one) gets at least top 20 at radio and that's probably a couple months away yet.

I think Toby Keith is releasing his 5 CD Box Set "5 Rounds" on Tuesday, and Willie Nelson has a new album out this month as well. There's always Colt Ford on July 1! Otherwise, not really any big albums until August...I think Chase Rice is releasing on August 19 and Brad Paisley on the 26th. Late summer and into fall should be pretty busy.

I must say it's really cool i live in same small town these guys come from in Maryland. Everyone here is rooting for them. They had first homecoming last week. They filmed the music video for this song last week at happy harbor restaurant. I heard it was crazy night. Can't wait for the album and this video

Every time it hear this song, I can't help but think this song would have been perfect for Zach Brown Band. I like this song a lot anyway. They play it like a top 15 hit down here in South Florida already.

Please become the sleeper hit of the summer. I'd love to see this explode. It just sounds so different from everything else on country radio.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this song's chances at doing relatively well. A bullet of 48 on MB today is not exactly something to write home about but "Rum" has had 14 stations add it over the past three weeks and has had steady gains in audience lately. It really could use those top 40 countdown spins but is at #41 for a second straight week. It has a shot to make it's MB top 40 debut next week but Love and Theft jumped it today and Rascal Flatts will have a good shot at passing them with only one recurrent (Miranda). It's also in the top 50 on iTunes and has been a great seller digitally since it's reached the top 50 on airplay.
They play this song quite often on The Highway and every time it comes on I like it just a tiny bit more than I did the previous time I heard it. I think if the Brothers Osborne came around let's say 5-6 years ago, they would already have a top 20 single with "Let's Go There" or perhaps "Rum" would have a quicker ride up the charts than now. I think it's encouraging though that these guys are competing in the current climate of country radio with the throwback feel to "Let's Go There" and the underproduced acoustic driven "Rum". I find their music to be refreshing when "Refreshing" music is few and far between these days.

Sorry for a double post but "Rum" has a bullet of 104 on MB today and finally gets those countdown spins this weekend with it cracking the top 40 (It's been stuck at #41 three weeks in a row). It's up to #36 on BB with a solid increase of over .400 in total audience. I'm certainly not saying this will turn out to be a big hit for them but this chart run is more promising then "Let's Go There" and hopefully they can ride it out to at least the top 20 or top 25.

John & TJ are two of my best friends, the video will be released soon. Their album is so amazing, I'm hoping with the release of the video that "Rum" will gain some terrestrial radio traction and hit top 15-10. That will definitely give us a fall release for their debut album. By the way, TJ played me a song that they wrote with Eric Church yesterday, real cool song that may be a late addition to their album.

I absolutely love this song. It reminds me of something Eric Church would put on "The Outsiders". Love how unique this sounds. I really, really hope it does well on the charts.

Things continue to look up for "Rum". It again has a bullet over 100 today on MB. It climbs to #38 from #40 and #34 from #36 on Billboard. It's garnered 1.2 million in audience the past four week on MB and nearly a million in the last two on Billboard. It's also crossed 450 total points gained on MB the past two weeks which is much better than most of it's previous weeks. This song being in the top 40 can now benefit from those countdown spins and with "Rum" being 16 weeks old, I believe that this is picking up at a crucial time period. Again, it's still not exactly blazing the world on fire here, but it's steady pace so far has me optimistic.

I think it's a lot countrier than most songs out there right now, personally. It's delightfully stripped-down and laid-back.

I love the fact they did the video where they grew up in Maryland. It gives a nice look into their hometown state and gives the video a certain uniqueness with the crab fishing and the locals. I know hometown pride can get hokey sometimes but I feel it really works here.
This song has steadily picked up the pace and has regularly been garnering +100 bullets over the past two weeks on MB. I really believe this has caught some life at the right time and may have a chance at a top 20-25 peak. Up over a million in audience on BB after another million the past two weeks and climbs to #32 after 17 weeks. Hopefully "Rum" can continue to gain momentum and we can get a full length album from this talented duo.

Woah , woah, woah! I'm late to the party on this one. I'm getting so cynical about the state of country music I'm barely even looking for anything on mainstream anymore. I really like this though!

All I can think of when I hear this song is "This sounds like Toby Keith". Glad I'm not the only one who hears the comparison in their voices.

This is a really catchy song. It actually sounds pretty country, too, which is nice. Random fun fact: Kacey Musgraves appears to love this song. She's posted several times about it on Instagram, including a video of her singing along to it on the radio in the car.

Charlie Worsham has really been hyping these guys too. "Rum" has really grown on me as well...the lyrics aren't super impressive but overall it's a very solid country song that actually sounds country. I'm definitely interested to hear a full album from these guys and I think this will be the song that gets the album out there. The sales per spin ratio for "Rum" has been very high and it continues to pick up steam at radio, so I think this will go at least top 20, if not top 10, before all is said and done.

Count me in on this one. "Let's Go There" did absolutely nothing for me and I approach summer songs with a heightened level of skepticism because I think there is something inherently contrived in the idea of a "summer song", but "Rum" just sounds so refreshing. The laid back groove of "Rum" totally engages and the instrumentation and unfussy production lend a sense of immediacy to the song. The imagery in the bridge helps -- yes, the idea of the song is nothing different, but the mentions of a garden hose, a kiddie pool, and a tarp convey the idea that they're just working with what they've got (it's imagery that works as well for urban and suburban audiences as rural ones), and it gives off a more spontaneous vibe that really enhances the believability of the song. I also love the alliteration in the first line ("the purdiest part of this powder keg world"), and there's something about the way T.J. Osborne sings "when the ice cubes clink" that actually makes me feel like I'm hearing ice cubes clink in a glass. Speaking of T.J. Osborne, I couldn't agree more with Ten Pound Hammer about the need for more soulful country voices in the format and genre, and that makes me root for the Brothers Osborne and this song even more. I checked out some of their other tunes. You can really hear the Shane McAnally in "Stay a Little Longer" (also, John Osborne can play!): "Let Me Love the Lonely Out of You" is another soulful tune with a cool bluesy guitar solo that the brothers cowrote with Connie Harrington:
