LOL. Is anyone actually surprised by critical praise for this though? Kendrick hits all of the critics' sweet spots at once. Like I said... you're "supposed" to kiss his ass right now if you're in the music industry. I haven't heard it at all except for "i" once when it was first released and then when performed on SNL. What do you think of it?

What do I think of Kendrick's album? Or what do I think of the reaction? I think I know what you think of the reaction (i.e. nonplussed.) I'm talking about the album. It's a great body of work but falls short of the messiah's arrival like social media and critics would have you believe. I need to give it more time to sink in when I can fully concentrate on it. As of now though, I prefer Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City. It's unfortunate that the bandwagoning on Kendrick is so strong right now. It feels like many people's opinions on this album are dictated to them through conformity rather than formed on their own. Is it even okay to say you prfer his previous album without your credibility being questioned?? Something about that is off putting even though it's not Kendrick's fault.

I hear you. The clips didn't blow me away but it doesn't sound like something that can be judged based on clips anyway so I will definitely pick it up and give it a fair shot. For the record, I thought critics were actually pretty spot-on with their assessment of Black Messiah. From what I can tell, it sounds like this album is missing a Poetic Justice, Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe, and Backseat Freestyle but ESPECIALLY The Motto. That is still my favorite Kendrick song to date. Oh, speak of the devil! Love Game by Eminem ft Kendrick just came on. LOOOOL. He definitely ate the beat on this song though.

Since TayTay knows all the words to Backseat Freestyle and it is the song she plays to get her pumped up (ROFLMAO!! I pray my dick get big as the Eiffel Tower so I can fuck the world for 72 hours. Can't y'all just hear Taylor rapping those words?!), I can only imagine her rapping along to this album, based on the subject matter.

I will probably need a couple of more listens to completely digest this album, but I definitely don't enjoy it as much as Good Kid, M.A.A.D City. I do think it's a very strong conceptual album, but it definitely lacks the definitive hits of its predecessor.

I can't imagine Taylor actually really liking this album. Right? I mean it's great if she does but something about her reactions on Twitter and that video make it seem like she is just trying way too hard. Ia with whoever said upthread that you kind of wonder what a Taylor Swift gets from such a political album like this.

She's been pretty vocal about loving Kendrick for the the past few years, long before this album was released.
She is a fan of Kendrick and she likes the album so she showed support. Does she need to write you an essay on what she has taken from listening to TPAB make it okay for her to enjoy it?

I have a completely unfounded conspiracy theory in my head now that Taylor is the Madonna to Kendrick's Tupac, and that's why she stans so hard.
But no really, Taylor has professed her love for hip-hop before so I don't really blink twice at this? I don't know what she does or doesn't get out of it, but I can't be bothered to speculated on it so I'll just give props to her for appreciating it. It's not like she's out there stanning for Hot Boy or something. (Although watching her try to hit the Shmoney dance would be hilarious.)

I'm not even sure what Taylor would stand to gain from faux-stanning Kendrick Lamar either. I'd love to know how that conspiracy theory plays out.
Haven't listened to this yet, but I loved 'i'. Never fully clicked with 'The Blacker the Berry', but it was interesting enough to make me want to check out the rest.

I do think Taylor is a genuine fan. But I seriously cannot see her taken a liking to songs like "Hood Politics" & "Blacker The Berry" the way she did to commercial bops like "Backseat Freestyle".

I've listened to this at least twice a day since is came out.....definitely better than GKMC. I'm seriously trying to remember the last time I heard an album this good from a mainstream rapper that had this kind of commercial success. College Dropout maybe? That's definitely the most recent example, and that was 11 years ago.

Wasn't that great IMO, it was just "different". Kind of like Yeezus. People seem to praise anything that goes against the grain, no matter what the results are. Not saying those albums were bad, just decent.

I'd put 2014 Forest Hills Drive up there, honestly.
Did the physical hit stores any day last week? I think HITS said they were going to try to get them out, but then I heard nothing else about it. And the HITS projection actually went down by about 10k instead of up, so I figured the physical wasn't a factor.

I was at Fye and Best Buy yesterday, and I saw it at Fye, but not Best Buy (didn't even see pricing for it). So maybe it was a limited supply.

I saw the physical in stores at Target and Best Buy over the weekend; it's also being advertised in their circulars as $13.99 but also tagged as a "deluxe edition" not that I've seen any evidence to support there being two versions of the album.

I respect your opinion, but completely disagree regardless Yeezus. It's tied with ..Fantasy as my favorite Kanye album, with Late Registration not that far behind.
This album is definitely off to a strong start. I'm just on King Kunta but I am definitely intrigued.
