I do have to give it up to Alicia though. She releases this song with a video and perform it on Fallon the same day. Who does that? lol No explanation for the release, just throw it out there. Her star power is still there because most R&B artists have difficulties landing a musical spot on these late night shows now.

Is the song even on iTunes though? I don't think it was uploaded to Vevo so far.

Ok, isn't it strange to use a late night tv platform to promote a song that's not available on iTunes or even youtube?

The video is on Vevo, and her Youtube account. And again, We Are Here is not a single, it won't be on Itunes and won't be sent to radios. That has been said and verified already.
As far as the current conversation goes, i have to agree. I know what she is doing is different. Writing empowering anthems about world issues and releasing them on big platforms, big promo.
But the way she executes these songs is tired and repetitive. They literally all sound the same. The message changes, but the production and arrangements are the same.
And that won't bode well with the music public who are forming an opinion on her music. She said this is the best music she has ever done, and than she releases a song like this before her album drops. Same old, same old.
I like the song, i like what she is doing with the platform she was given. Sing your empowering anthems Alicia, but damn change the sound. Do something other than the 'No One' hook and arrangement.

The video is on Vevo, and her Youtube account. Are you sure? I checked it and couldn't find it. Maybe it's restricted to US?

On Itunes #97 on Itunes Top 100. She performed the song this morning on the Today Show.

They put it on iTunes? Wow, it was put on iTunes when?
This is probably a good buzz track for her. I see if this does decent, the label will release her album at the top of next year with the lead single.

It's actually doing quite well.....very surprised. #2 top Buzz Trending Song on Billboard's Buzz Chart (behind the new One Direction song).... and it cracked the Top 100 on Iitunes in less than 4 hours. Something IT'S ON AGAIN with Kendrick/Pharrell couldn't do.
Radio aint gonna latch on to this song.....so i say a few more performances....go rest....get that baby out the way.....and release that First single early next year.

I don't quite get this release strategy. Why didn't she release the song to iTunes last week, when she performed on Fallon (the highest rated late night platform she could ask for)? Maybe she wanted to create some anticipation before dropping it to iTunes?

I'd love for her to venture into the Jhene Aiko brand of R&B. Alicia's voice is so versatile and I would love to hear her glide over something like Bed Peace or some of the stuff on Souled Out.

I'd love that. That would be fresh for her. But, besides the production and style of music, I'd love something new from her lyrically. I'm tired of the 'Earth mother' or motivational bulls**t. Write about how hot you are. Write about being the other woman. Just something new and different.

"Listen To Your Heart" was kind of in that style, and it was one of the few keepers on Girl On Fire.

Billboard named "We Are Here" one of the worst new singles, giving it 2/5 stars.

LMAO. She really needs to go away for an extended period of time. Honestly don't think that's her issue either. She is stuck in her time and I don't think she has the right people around her to tell that her "sh!t" is wack right now.

She is stuck in her time and I don't think she has the right people around her to tell that her "sh!t" is wack right now. This. I was scrolling through the last page and as I read all the arguments for what she could do my only thought was '...but she just sucks right now.' I'm not sure how anyone can cure that. I definitely get the sentiment that Alicia surrounds herself only with 'positive' people who won't tell her that yes, her shit sometimes does stink. I also have the feeling that her radios are all stuck on AC/UAC stations so she legit has no idea how out of date some of her stuff sounds now. I don't expect much or any improvement if she isn't going to shake up the team surrounding her. And at this point I don't think she (or r&b in general tbh) is a high enough priority to RCA for them to try to stage an intervention. They probably figure she's still one of their top selling r&b artists and aren't concerned with trying to recapture her crossover appeal. Sad face. Her other problem is that I feel like she keeps trying to write these big anthem songs because she wants to recreate the success of "No One." For the most part she keeps missing, and I'm curious as to why that of all things in her discography is the repeat button she's stuck on. She still has it in her to make good music (both TEOF and GOF had some gems, which is ironic b/c then she insists on picking bum lead singles) but she has to stop being so concerned with 'making a hit' and just concentrate on creating genuine, solid songs.

She is currently doing this "We Are Here Movement" and while I admire the intent of this movement, it doesn't sit well with me. She is actually turning me off as a fan because I think the "Mother Teresa" is all an act. I don't like it at all and she is coming across as a "try hard" to get the public to like her. IMO, she has become such a cliche character (even her interviews are like that now)

I would really support her if she came out and supported a cause like Ferguson or something, even if the music was the shit she's been putting out. But her whole "movement" seems so nebulous and insincere since she's basically just promoting peace and love and reducing every global issue to "Let's all be nice to each other." If she actually chose a cause and dedicated herself it'd be different but this just feels dumb.
