Sia is an absolute gem. This song is by far the best I've heard this year.
Hopefully this doesn't become the second Young and Beautiful.

I have never really been here for Sia outside of "Titanium" and this song is no exception. If she were to re-do this with having everything together...then maybe. There's moments where I want to get into it, but I just can't stay interested.

The song is truly amazing and the chorus is infectious as hell but there's something in her delivery that i didn't like that much

Man, that first verse is no joke, didn't understand a word.
Mixed thoughts on the song, it's almost too grandiose, borderline pretentious. The lyrics are also pretty lame.
Umbrella was cute when Rihanna added an extra syllable, but it's just obnoxious here.
It's not bad, but she's definitely done better.

The song is a masterpiece. The lyrics in the verses juxtaposed to the epic production of the chorus and it's metaphorical lyric are just brilliant. I remember when we just had the snippet of the chorus, I thought it was about living life to the fullest. But it's awesome how she conveys her longing to numb the pain through such a lively production. On repeat.

But it's awesome how she conveys her longing to numb the pain through such a lively production. On repeat. The lyrics are so euphoric and yet gut wrenching sad at the same time, it's brilliant how she pulled it off. It can kind of be whatever someone wants it to be for them. I am truly in awe of this one.

Vocally, the verses are very Rihanna-esque. The hook is definitely all Sia. I can't imagine Rih pulling that off. I like the song, but not in love w/it. The hook is pretty powerful, but is it catchy? I wish she could enunciate a lot better than she does. Lol. I'm gonna have to follow along a lyric video for me to really get this song.

I love the song, but I legitimately do not understand most of the lyrics. Like, I can barely tell what the song is about because I can only make out a few words here and there. It really detracts from a pretty epic song otherwise.

Vocally a colossal mess to be honest her voice is beyond grating, have no interest. Maybe it will grow on me like 'Diamonds" did because that song was a turn off at first and it was okay towards the end.

They really should have made this a lyric video instead of just putting them in the video description, ha. Other than her usual marblemouthed delivery, which I reluctantly tolerate, this is very very good.

What's funny is that Sia CAN enunciate if she wanted to. For whatever aesthetic reason, she chooses not to. So, I can tolerate people saying that she brings the mush-mouthed delivery, but what I will NOT tolerate is people denying her vocal range or power. She is a stylistic singer, take it or leave it, with abilities that FAR exceed 95% of vocalists on the radio today. I need to be careful to reign in my stan tendencies for this girl because if I get another I'm In Here ballad released and I see negativity, I may lose my shit.

What's funny is that Sia CAN enunciate if she wanted to. For whatever aesthetic reason, she chooses not to. So, I can tolerate people saying that she brings the mush-mouthed delivery, THAT I can deal with. The only song with her vocals that I actually got the lyrics right on first listen was "Titanium". Speaking of which, she hasn't had any US success until "Wild Ones" came out, so would that add her into the list of artists who capitalize on features?

I don't think so. Sia has never really promoted her records in the US (aside from a Letterman performance of Soon We'll Be Found). I remember being so upset about Bring Night not being pushed or promoted, but I soon realized she never cared to have big hit records for herself, even if the songs SCREAM 'smash hit'. Notice how she never performed her hit collabos at any of the award shows, she doesn't seem to want that exposure.

In the Billboard article about her a few months ago, it talked about how she negotiated a contract with very specific and unique promo limitations. She never performed Wild Ones live, didn't appear in any of the videos for her features, and is generally spotlight shy anymore. I doubt that will change, and I'm really curious how big the label's push will be and what strategy they're going to use to promote her/the single.
Also, I realized this song kind of reminds me of Wrecking Ball in tone, except this somehow makes that chorus seem tiny in comparison.

I love this song. My only critique is I wish she didn't marble mouth some parts of this song. That chorus though is great.

Question for people who bring up Sia's vocal stylings: were you aware of her work as a solo artist before started singing/writing hooks and collaborating with pop stars, or her work as a Zero 7 vocalist?

I am aware of her vocal stylings, but it still doesn't mean I can't be unhappy that some parts of the song are really hard to understand.

Question for people who bring up Sia's vocal stylings: were you aware of her work as a solo artist before started singing/writing hooks and collaborating with pop stars, or her work as a Zero 7 vocalist? I enjoy some of her more stripped back outings, like "I'm In Here," "Breathe Me," and "My Love." When she sings that, she has a haunting quality that lingers for a while after the song ends. And then there is this song where I can't really understand what she's singing. And to me, it just sounds shrill. I've listened to it twice, hoping that I like it more, but I can't seem to enjoy it. I'll always be here for her other work though, because she really is a master class vocalist when she wants to be.

The only lyrics I had to look up were the "I'm gonna fly like a bird through the night, feel my tears as they dry" part to be honest. I was able to understand the rest of it on my own. I really don't think her pronunciation is that bad on it. At least no worse than usual. Lol.

LOL. I've never met another Aussie in my life who sounds like Sia...at least not when singing. When talking, she sounds pretty standard Aussie.
