I believe "Counting Stars" was thier best shot at a #1 song. Maybe is more ignorant consumers knew that Ryan Tedder is behind half the songs on the pop charts, they would finally give One Republic thier first Number one song? They deserve it.

Hopefully I Lived gets released next cause that's always been the other smash of the album after CS, imo.

I'm thinking "I Lived" next for the fall, "Burning Bridges" for the winter, and maybe "Life in Color" for spring/summer (if they wanna go that far).

So the label wanted this to be released as the lead single to the next album, but Ryan wanted to put it out now because it would never see the light of day in the future due to their evolving taste. Interesting.

I honestly would have been OK with it just being an album or bonus track on the next album. I like it and all but it's not one of their most hit ready songs, especially on the hit filled Native. The way they talk about it and how much effort they put into it, I'm not sure it was really worth it. It's like they wanted it to be this perfect hit pop song, but those kinds of songs almost never require that much time and effort to do. They just happen. Like CS for example.

#23 on Hot 100 this week.
#11 on Radio #24 on Digital #34 on On-Demand.
Tops 1 million mark this week. :) Apologize (5.8M) Stop And Stare (2M+) All The Right Moves (2M+) Secrets (3M+) Good Life (3M+) Feel Again (1M+) Counting Stars (5.1M)
and this. So that's a total of 8 million-sellers for OneRepublic :)

I've been a fan since Stop & Stare and still think their debut album is pretty dang good.

They seem very underrated in terms of chart success.
