Yep, still jamming to this buzziest of likely one-summer-hit-wonders, "All About That Bass," but the competition among the top ten remains stiff. Another gorgeous Ultraviolence cut enters in the lower portion of the charts, as does Ariana's super-smooth midtempo with The Weeknd. In off-the-chart news, as Tegan and Sara's "I Was A Fool" finally drops off the chart after a full 52 weeks on the chart, it sits firmly in my top five songs of the decade based on chart points. 09/28/2014

"Black Widow" creeps to the top, but Lana is not far behind. Quickly becoming obsessed with Tove Lo's Queen of the Clouds, so expect some good single performance from her here. 10/05/2014

I love your top two! "Black Widow" is a great number one, although I really hope "Ultraviolence" can take it. It's hard to pick a favorite from Ultraviolence, but I would have to choose that one. I'm glad to see "Habits", "Don't", and "Cool Kids" in the top ten and rising. I especially love the "Habits" love. I hope it can hit number one. Also, I hope Queen of the Clouds can start smashing. It wasn't an instant love, but a lot of the songs from it are amazing. Hopefully "Brooklyn Baby", "Animals", "Black Beauty", "Beggin' For Thread", and "Love Me Harder" can keep rising. Especially the latter two. Banks is recently becoming a favorite of mine and "Love Me Harder" is probably my favorite Ariana single ever, so there's that. Oh, and nice debut of "Not on Drugs". Great chart, dbhmr!

Making up for last week, during which I was drowning in overtime. I get particularly obsessive when I'm stressed at work, and my immediate love for Marina and the Diamond's new song, "Froot," and my favorite song off the "Tove Lo" album (not a single yet, but idgaf) reaped the repeat rewards, leading to some of the highest debuts of the year. "Ultraviolence" lost a bit of steam just shy of the top, mostly due to my love for "Brooklyn Baby" spreading to my boyfriend and friends, so I'm hearing that elsewhere more often. While the top-ten competition dies down, songs in the middle of the chart clamor for attention and points. Which will have the stamina to make top five? I'm not even sure yet, but I appreciate the variety.

It's good to see "Black Widow" still at number one. It's a shame that "Ultraviolence" has lost steam, but at least "Brooklyn Baby" is rising. Hopefully "Habits" can keep moving up. The debuts for "Froot" and "Moments" are really great. Hopefully "Beggin' For Thread", "Boom Clap", "Animals", and "Flawless" can keep rising as well.
Fantastic chart as always, dbhmr! :)

Love your chart’s layout. Don’t know a lot of these songs, but based on the other tracks, we might have similar taste! Love that Iggy is #1, and Tove Lo top 5. Haven’t heard the rest of Tove Lo’s album, I’m guessing “Moments” is one of your favorites off of it?

Nice chart!! I feel like I always want to comment on yours but get sidetracked. Ok, so I LOVE "Moments" - very nice debut there. I'm glad to see "Don't" doing well. I hope it can come close to the top. I would love to see "Beggin for Thread" pick up the pace.

SO. I have been keeping up with this, I just haven't been posting it. So prepare for three weeks awfully quickly. Thanks to finally embracing the original version of "Habits," Ms. Tove "New Fave" Lo has two versions of the same song playing. propelling her to a somewhat surprising week at #1. Meanwhile, "Moments" makes a huge leap, setting itself up for... 10/19/2014

...another big leap to #1. In fact, this is the fastest rise to number one in the three-year history of my chart, and Tove Lo is only the second artist (after Beyonce this year) to replace herself at the top spot. This is just make favorite song out right now by a mile, it's so incredibly anthemic and wonderful. It's actually a contender for my favorite song of the whole damn year. Just feeling the shit out of it. "Don't" continues to play strong, Jason and Lana enter the top ten with their killer mellow melodies, and Gwen's new song has caught my attention enough for me to get really into her comeback track. 10/26/2014

No surprise, "Moments" continues its time in the penthouse; as much as I'm loving "Don't," "Moments" is the only song I'm hitting repeat on. But the top ten is chalk-full of songs I love, and Kelly Clarkson has a new Christmas single coming out in a few weeks, so its stay will see numerous threats. "Froot" has been stalling a bit thanks to its lack of availability outside of YouTube. But that will change in this coming week--I broke my own rule and downloaded it illegally to tide me over until Marina and the Diamonds graces us with an official, legal release. I'll buy it when it's out, but until this, THIS IS YOUR DOING, MARINA. 11/02/2014

Psst you have "Not On Drugs" in there twice on the new one. Lots of good stuff here - rooting for "Love Me Harder," "Beggin' For Thread," and "Distance" in particular!

The first one is supposed to be CHVRCHES's "The Mother We Share." Fixed it on my file, likely too lazy to do so here, but thank you for catching!

A few days late, but up on the right week! "Moments" continues to dominate, but now that "Froot" is on Spotify--in addition to a few songs set to debut next week--its reign will soon be put to the test. You can never count out Lana either, who becomes the first artist to ever dethrone Kelly Clarkson on my LastFM ranking for most-played artist in the last 12 months. In fact, all the movers in the top ten are all looking strong, as well, as is Gwen Stefani's "Baby Don't Lie," which saw a nice jump this week. Meanwhile, my boyfriend has played the Nick Jonas enough that it's starting to sneak in... 11/09/2014

Another mass catch-up session, courtesy of the holidays, work, and laziness. "Froot" makes a big move on the heels of being available on Spotify and iTunes, while Kelly Christmas comes (early) once again with a new single. Also: Taylor Swift makes a big debut with a great pop song. 11/16/2014

I'm not loving "Moments" any less, but "Froot" is getting more replays at this point--just so damn catchy. "Blank Space" makes a big move, Kelly inches her way up, ready for the post-Thanksgiving Christmas blitz. Also new? Beyoncé's super-fun and silly "7/11" (accompanied by a period to bypass Excel's annoying and automatic change to "July 11"). 11/23/2014

Tove Lo takes the top spot back from Marina, though the two will probably battle it out until Taylor/Gwen/Sam/Beyonce/Kelly take it over; all tracks have potential. Beyoncé's other single gets some love, and the Lana train just won't stop. 11/30/2014

I'm liking the fact that "Froot" and "Moments" are both reversing positions. They're both fantastic. Hopefully "Blank Space" and "Not On Drugs" can continue moving upwards, among others. Oh, and I love all of your debuts. Great chart as usual, dbhmr! :)

A week behind, but trying to catch up today. General question: Is it most common/preferred to incorporate one's year-end chart within one's personal chart thread? Or make a new thread for it? Anyway, "Froot" back on top with Lana and Taylor battling it out for the next #1 spot. Then the rest of the chart is a smattering of good songs moving up at a fairly even pace, with the exception of seasonal queen Clarkson leaping up the ranks with "Wrapped in Red." Potential #1 upset? If not, it'd be the first year of my charts in which she doesn't secure a #1 spot. We'll see! 12/07/2014

Glad to see "Froot" at number one. Hopefully "Brooklyn Baby" will too. It's also really nice to see "Not On Drugs" and "I'm Not the Only One" in the top ten. The jumps from "7/11", "Wrapped In Red", and "Uptown Funk" are great as well. Great chart, dbhmr! :) To answer your question, I think it's just based on what you feel like doing. I don't think one method is preferred over the other. Personally I prefer to have a separate thread for mine, mainly because last year I did my list in thread and I found that it cluttered my thread up too much. I'll be following either way you choose to do it.

Thanks for the response, Zeebz. I believe I will make a separate year-end thread. But before then, a few more weeks... Lana sees her second #1 off Ultraviolence with my favorite song on the album, "Brooklyn Baby." "Wrapped In Red" continues to charge toward the peak, and Sam Smith gets a new entry with "Lay Me Down." A lot of good songs on the horizon, but things have slowed a bit due to my rampant play of Wrapped In Red Christmas music no mostly just Wrapped In Red. 12/14/2014
