Just heard this for the first time yesterday. It's fantastic. I hope it's a hit for Kira in the US. She's one of the most promising new Canadian acts who I could see breaking through in the US. There's an article about "Quarterback" in the latest Billboard Country Mid-Week Update: www1.billboard.biz/bbbiz/photos/pdf/2013/BCU_mw_0417.pdf

I love her - "A Little More Work" and "Blame It On Your Truck" are super catchy tracks. I can see her getting some airplay across the border, but not much. ETA: It was also interesting to read that they sent the song to Carrie Underwood originally, considering the first time I heard about Kira Isabella was when she opened for Carrie two years ago. Also, the music video for this song came out today, and you can see that here.

I'm not as moved by this as several of the singles from her debut, but she has a wonderful voice, so I'd love to see her make some waves in the U.S. with it. Still a great song though and I'm sure it'll only continue to grow on me.

This is a terrible, terrible song. Ridiculous lyrics (it's effectively a lame, dark spin on Carrie's 'All American Girl'), bad melody -- it just doesn't work.
And what's weird is that it isn't getting much traction, but Mediabase won't take it off "Cool New Music."

If they decide to take it off because it's not getting much traction at radio, then they might as well take half of the songs off of there. Jay Jolley - "High And Mighty" Levi Riggs - "I'm Good" Stacy Burk - "Till Your Boots Are Dirty" Troy Bullock - "Country Go Round" Erik Smallwood - "Come Home Soon" Those songs and others like them I didn't list on Cool New Music are getting little to no airplay at major country radio. "Quarterback" is getting many more spins than those songs (up to #69 this week with a bullet) and she's with a bigger label (though it's clearly not a big label compared to others) than those artists named HitShop who got Weston Burt a good amount of station support with "Lucky Sometimes" last year.

All those songs should be taken off...maybe I don't understand what the concept is. I look at it as things with breakout potential. Is that not correct?

That page gets those artist some exposure and they probably work out deals to get their song on that page with All Access. Heck I'm sure many people don't even bother clicking play on those particular songs. Even though most pay attention to singles that have breakout potential from bigger name artist from bigger name labels, there's a ungodly amount of new singles being sent to radio. Some only get played a couple times (and I literally mean a couple), some get a little buzz (20-40 spins or so) and some don't get any airtime, or at least not on monitored stations. I have never viewed that page as "singles with breakout potential". Just a page to have a good amount of current singles easily accessible on one page.

I look at it as things with breakout potential. Is that not correct? That's not correct. AllAccess puts almost all songs sent to radio up under Cool New Music. And they leave them there and list them as "new" sometimes until well after the song has peaked, whether it peaks at #1 or doesn't even chart (ie, only 60's/70's on Mediabase).

"A Little More Work" is a fantastic song and I adore her vocals, and I like "Quarterback" better on the second listen (I heard it once quite a while ago.) The melody is a little weak, but still good. I don't think it suits her voice as well as some of her other songs though. I hope this can do well for her- she deserves success. I wish "A Little More Work" would have been released to US radio

I personally love this and think it's one of the strongest songs currently being promoted to radio. I do think the melody is probably the weakest aspect of the song but it makes up for it vocally and lyrically. Honestly would love to see this become the hit it's become in Canada.
If this doesn't hit though I think they'll find something that works because her debut had such strong radio friendly material and I think HitShop has a lot of potential as a record label. They're still new but I like the choices in artist they're signing. I have high hopes for all involved lol.

What is so funny to me is someone slams the girl your "touting", for being an absolute no talent hack, and you drag artists you don't even know into the mix...Troy Bullock's Country Go Round? I've been following him for 2 and a half years...that song had a 1 month jump of 125 spots on the top 100 and that was the first month of its release!!...He's opened for Alan Jackson, Kenny Chesney, Tracy Lawrence Wade Hayes and Toby Keith...bet you didn't know that?! Or do you care? And he is labeled by two labels! And has a massive underground following.... And the beauty of his song? It's still climbing the charts! The girl your commending for being "God's gift" to music here is nothing but a complete knock off..a total "every girl country singer does this so I'm going to do this too" ACT...at this point your musical taste tells me your nothing but sheep...i suggest you and everybody else in this forum do some research on people before you start tearing them down with searchable results...i think it's rude and unfair!!! This guy is making an absolute name for himself in communities all across America!Erik Smallwood? Are you ignorant? That has charted as well..evidently you have no I idea what your talking about...just remember....songs don't make hits anymore...money does...and if I'm having to explain that to you then your definitely not "on the level" yet...not song...money...remember that...and furthermore they don't make a deal with all access...All access makes a deal with them... www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7L5HE_is7wquote author=" kanimal" source="/post/4822705/thread" timestamp="1403034072"] Have you seen the page for "Cool New Music"?
