Please don't let hashtags count towards the Hot 100, lol.

This doesn't even make sense.. And it's multiple times a week? This is a godless place.

Ok so charts will now be manipulated by people who think one person deserves more streams than another.

That's cool as long as they're not added to the actual chart points

I don't think this is going to influence the Hot 100 (at least not yet, and I hope it doesn't ever, lol), so I think this is another fine way of analyzing music data and a good way for Twitter to stay in the music space after the demise of their app. Tweeted this earlier, but I'm curious to see if Twitter-owned Vine is incorporated - while Twitter hasn't really broken any acts on its own, Vine has caused buzz for several songs ("Wop," "Turn Down For What," etc.) - though I suppose it would require some sort of audio fingerprinting technology (like what Shazam, YouTube, or Soundhound uses) to identify and tag playing audio.

All we need is some people to talk about #harlem shake, and get it trending, so that it can re-enter (lol).
In all seriousness, its a really good idea, and it will be cool!

This looks like nothing more than another Social Media chart. That is all. What song has the most "buzz" during the week. Don't they already have an arist chart for the same thing?
This should not impact the Hot 100

I think this is an interesting idea. I don't see why people are talking about the Hot 100, nothing from this will directly impact it. Tweets do not directly generate revenue.
If anything, this will let the industry keep a closer eye on underground acts (as songs will be listed rather than established celebrities) that are gradually connecting to a wider audience and see who should be signed and promoted to the masses.

Translation: Twitter had plans for this before and developed this and billboard is going to shoe horn it into billboard.com. The team at billboard doesnt have the technical expertise to build a real time platform

The chart is supposed to premiere at 8:00am EDT tomorrow, from what I've seen mentioned on Twitter. Janice Min was on the TODAY Show this morning to announce them, but I missed it and haven't seen video posted online to know if she mentioned any more details.

I feel like this is a great idea, as long as it actually works well and it doesn't impact the Hot 100 (it shouldn't though. Right?)

Gee, I wonder who will be the inaugural #1 artist, just in time for his album EP to drop:

I wonder if they'll ever be able to have a comprehensive #1 listing, seeing as this just launched and I see 10+ songs have peaked at #1.
