This is a disappointing choice for me. I was hoping for "Talk About Love"; that just sounds like the perfect follow-up single for her heading into summer. I can see this maybe scraping the Top 20, but not much more.

I can see this maybe scraping the Top 20, but not much more. I like Talk About Love more too, that is probably my favorite song on the album, but since I like this YIA more than Wild Boy (the first one she announced as follow up on a concert, but they changed it), I'm actually quite happy with the choice.

The thread looks great to me sapphire :) As for the song; I still would like a better vocal delivery to this song. Her voice is very good, but much like "The Heart Of Dixie", I would love to see her really take hold of some of the lines. The song has a nice summertime type sound to me, but the hook is weak along with most of the generic lyrics (I don't think I've ever heard any country song say NYC). Personally I feel if the lyrics are generic and the subject has been covered, it would be best to have a great melody or a unique production to the song. "Young In America" is a nice pleasant song, but I feel there were better options from the album like "Talk About Love" that zjames eluded to, and "Dance Hall".

While this is not as bad as Wild Boy, I don't understand why Dance Hall or Talk About Love wasn't chosen. Talk About Love is the most obvious choice for a second single..pure ear candy. This is just blah for me

I actually really like this choice. "Talk About Love" would've been another solid choice but I'm definitely more than pleased with this one. It's way better than "Wild Boy". I agree that the lyrics are a bit generic and cliche but I think it's the right type of song for a teen girl like Danielle, and I actually really like her vocal delivery of this one. I really like the tone of her voice and there is a nice warmth there as well. I am hopeful that this can get her into the top 10, but radio is going to have to be more open to new females. "Heart Of Dixie" did well enough and of course she has Big Machine behind her, but they'll still have their work cut out for them with this one.

She's good, but her voice is just extremely boring to me. I liked "The Heart of Dixie" and I like "Young In America" too, but her voice prevents me from truly getting into them. I have no clue how this will do for her. She can sing, I just don't find her voice all that interesting.

This is pretty good, might make the top 10. But if she wants a legitimate breakout smash, "I Will Never Forget You" is the way to go.

I think she sounds great as usual but she may and probably will face same problems that jana/kacey faced with their 2nd and 3rd singles when it comes to radio success. But i think it may be worse for her because this song is so forgetable and bland and uninteresting! I hate saying all those things cause i really do love danielle's voice. I listened to this 5 times and cant remember a word. I really dont think this will go high! Sadley :(...

I'm pleased with this choice. I also would've enjoyed "Talk About Love" or even "Wild Boy," but this is still among my favorites on the album and seems like one of the better single options on her debut. I would kill for "Daughter of a Workin' Man" on the radio (by far the best track on the record imo), but it's a little too slow and a little too country, so it probably wouldn't go over that well.

Other than "Talk About Love", this was the best choice for the second single. I think it will give Danielle another hit.
I know for the third single, her management is wanting to go with a song that shows off her vocal chops more so it will likely be "I Will Never Forget You" or "Never Like This"

I love this single choice! I think it is a better choice for Danielle since it's something she can relate to more than "Heart of Dixie" (which I loved, but it was somewhat ironic that Danielle was singing it), and the upbeat tempo will be great for summer. I really enjoy Danielle's voice and would love to see her breakout with this song!
I vote "Dance Hall" and "Daughter of a working Man" in the future.

Danielle Bradbery Young In America (Big Machine) At just 17, Big Machine's Danielle Bradbery is the youngest contender in a talented pack of new females vying to break through on Country radio. And she's already had a measure of success, what with a win on season four of "The Voice," a self-titled, debut album with its first single, the likeable, singable - and durable - "Heart Of Dixie" which outlived many other singles from July through February, finally peaking at #12. "Young In America" is the follow up; it brings tempo, another strong hook and a devil-may-care attitude, suggesting two young-and-in-love sweethearts get in the car and just start driving. There's no agenda, no map, but rather, "Fine wine/Sand/Bare feet," plenty of kissing on the beach, with the chorus suggesting, "Let's run while we're young in America." There's something else Bradbery has going for her: A really great voice. I saw her at a club during CRS and in an arena (Nashville's Bridgestone, opening for Brad Paisley) in the span of four days in February. This girl is even better live, with deceptive vocal power you may miss on what is a very solid album. "Young In America" hits all the right notes, making Bradbery a contender radio will have to contend with. Impacts 4/21 By: RJ Curtis www.allaccess.com/country/cool-new-music

Great short write-up about the single, except that "Fine wine/Sand/Bare feet" lyric should be "Fine white sand/Bare feet". LOL.

It's pretty obvious that the reason that she and Cassadee are doing well is because Blake is the only judge that has any pull in the music industry. (Well Usher might have some if he got the right artist but he's only a part-time judge)

(Well Usher might have some if he got the right artist but he's only a part-time judge) Blake might have a lot of pull in the music industry, but that doesn't explain why Danielle and Cassadee are having success. Other than their connection to Blake via The Voice, he has no affect on their careers. They are on an entirely different label. And they have people buying their music. Both albums have sold pretty well and Cassadee's debut single went Top 10 and Platinum, while Danielle's peaked at #12 and is almost Gold. Blake isn't out there telling radio to play these girls, nor is he persuading fans to buy their music. Radio is playing them because they have both talent and a strong label behind them, and the fans are buying their music because...surprise, they want to.

I'm not saying because I think they're bad. I think Cassadee's album was the best album of 2013. I'm just putting out that compared to Javier Colon or Jermaine Paul (and likely Tessanne Chin), they've both been successful.

Sure, but both Danielle and Cassadee are country artists, and the radio industry varies for each format. Country radio has (so far) been welcoming to Cassadee and Danielle, and I do think some of that has to do with them being on the Big Machine Label Group. The other artists may not have had as strong a backing by their labels, and the radio formats they were targeting simply may not have been that receptive to their music. I just think comparing one format to another, in this case, is like comparing apples to oranges.

I find it really interesting that Billboard lists the label for this as Republic Nashville, and for Cassadee's new one they list her as Republic Nashville/Big Machine. The BMLG website has Danielle on Big Machine proper and Cassadee on Republic. So either Billboard made a mistake, or for some reason Borchetta tasked Republic with promoting Bradbery's sophomore single, and Big Machine for Cassadee's sophomore single...a complete flip. I'm not sure why they would do that.

Even so the imprint on Danielle's CD is Republic Nashville.

no personality. again. on a tune that could have had so much peppiness.
I think they are just biding their time until they can get to the end of summer and come with "i will never forget you".. that's a great tune and fits her voice perfectly.

Heard this on the radio the other day for the first time and loved it. Looking forward to hearing this more as I prefer it to her debut single which I actually heard a lot during its run.

Not a good update today for the NEW Billboard Country Airplay Issue
54 53 3 YOUNG IN AMERICA Republic Nashville Danielle Bradbery 0.782 -0.107 240 13 52
Down one spot from a week ago, also loses an audience of 107k for the week, and only gains 13 plays from a week ago. I know it's only it's 3rd week on the chart but things are looking like this may have been the wrong choice for a follow up single to "The Heart Of Dixie" and this may get lost in the shuffle with all these summer type songs getting airplay this Summer.
She also loses her bullet this week. Still too early to call this a failure, but it's watch and see in the weeks to come.

It's pretty routine for newbies' songs to lose their bullets a couple times early on (just not 2-3 consecutive bullet-less weeks of course), so I'm not really that worried about this one. Obviously, if it's going to be a hit, we're in for another slow climb here. The Big Machine/Republic promo team is going to have to be very patient and hope that this one can endure because it's highly unlikely for Danielle or any other new artist outside the top 40 to suddenly start gaining 500k+ a week. I expect this to rebound and regain its bullet, and then let's just hope that radio can let this get into at least the top 20. That's probably too optimistic, though, but that's my hope.
