It's pretty routine for newbies' songs to lose their bullets a couple times early on (just not 2-3 consecutive bullet-less weeks of course), so I'm not really that worried about this one. Obviously, if it's going to be a hit, we're in for another slow climb here. The Big Machine/Republic promo team is going to have to be very patient and hope that this one can endure because it's highly unlikely for Danielle or any other new artist outside the top 40 to suddenly start gaining 500k+ a week. I expect this to rebound and regain its bullet, and then let's just hope that radio can let this get into at least the top 20. That's probably too optimistic, though, but that's my hope. Not unlike how The Cadillac Three's song is moving for Big Machine. It has had some fits and starts (don't remember if it ever lost a bullet or not but it hasn't been a fast-rising hit).

"The South" didn't have a bullet for the May 5th Mediabase chart, and on the April 21st Mediabase chart, it lost 6 spots but barely maintained it's bullet. All in all a very uneasy chart run, but it is at #34 this week with it's bullet.

Cassadee's single had a couple bad weeks as well, but it picked up a good bit of steam this past week. Danielle's song isn't anywhere near done yet.

I know its just a music video, but she finally looks like she is enjoying herself and giving a performance. I really, really enjoyed this video for her. Exactly what she should be doing at her age.

Great music video. She looks beautiful and very happy throughout and the video was executed well. Parts of it reminded me of the video for "What You Think About Us" by Ashley Gearing, but a more high quality version.

I love the music video, so much fun. It was directed by the same director of her The Heart Of Dixie video, Shane Drake. Her hair is gorgeous too. Here's YIA The Making Video.

Gorgeous video! Danielle is so beautiful and I love her voice. I actually wish this one or "Talk About Love" had been the lead-off single, as I think either would've gone top 10 whereas "The Heart Of Dixie" came up just short. Nothing to do about that now, though. I know "Young In America" isn't exactly a lyrical masterpiece but I just love the innocence and imagery about the song. It's a cute/fun song and it's not about beer and trucks This song is just perfect for Danielle, and I couldn't imagine a better music video for it. Two thumbs up/5 stars from me!

That was my big takeaway from the music video is that it feels like Danielle is finally getting comfortable with doing this. The little look she gives the camera at the 1:23 mark on the lyric "We can do the Vegas thing you can buy me a ring" is adorable. I really enjoyed this music video for many reasons, but the biggest one was that it looks like Danielle is actually having fun for the first time since she stepped onto The Voice stage.

Fantastic video. I love Danielle, and this is such a great summer song.
I really hope this starts to gradually pick up more airplay. It seems like a very radio-friendly tune, and definitely sounds like a hit.

Really hoping this at the very least goes top 25. It's starting off real slow. It needs to make the top 50 already. Blahhh.
Where do you guys think this will peak?

Where do you guys think this will peak? one thing you should keep in mind is that new artists are definitly going to have slower chart climbs! especially females.. and each single they release from here on out may just lose momentum... i hope she can get to the top 25 but , it will be a while before we can make judgments...

Really hoping this at the very least goes top 25. It's starting off real slow. It needs to make the top 50 already. Blahhh. Where do you guys think this will peak? Well, this has only been on the chart (Billboard) for 4 weeks, which isn't really any worse than what we see with many other new artists. I mean, Jon Pardi, David Nail, Easton Corbin, Parmalee, Gloriana, and Thompson Square all started just as "slow" or even slower, and they are/were all coming off pretty big hits as well. But, just like Danielle, they're also still new-ish so that's just the way it goes. The charts are very crowded. It's really hard to say how high this will peak--it's almost impossible to predict the chart run for a new artist. Sometimes their songs barely move for 15-20 weeks but then catch on and get into the top 20 and sometimes they move up really slowly, crack the top 30, and then take off like a rocket once they've hit that 20-25 range on the charts. And probably most of the time, their songs flounder around and don't really do anything, because the bigger artists are too busy hogging up all the airplay. I think YIA has the potential to be a top 10 hit and I hope it can get there, but I don't really feel it's a realistic goal (even though that's what I'm hoping for). It might even be tough to get this to the top 30...who knows? I think it's still way too early to say.

I must say this song is really growing on me. To be honest, I never watched her on The Voice, nor do I ever watch any of those shows anyway, so I didn't have any preconceived judgments on her before I heard "The Heart Of Dixie". To me her emotion in her vocal was lacking on that song, and I feel that it's a little evident here as well, though like I said then, I'm sure she'll get better as time goes on. But what I do love about this song is the style of her voice. Even though she's not the best at conveying emotion with her vocals, she doesn't over sing the songs on her debut album either, which I really appreciate now and days. This song is a very feel good song during the summertime and now I see why they went with this second.
After a good week last week with a bullet of nearly 200 and leaping to #46, her bullet is only minimal (4) as of Friday on MB. If this song becomes a hit it's going to be another slow climber, so I hope that fans of her will be patient and let this song run it's course. Her biggest ally is being part of BMLG who is exceptional at promoting singles to radio.

I didn't like this til I saw the music video, which changed my opinion. Now I love it. I hope this becomes a big hit for her.

Can anyone who has access to the data tell me were this song is at on the charts? I know it dropped out of the top 50 a couple days ago, but does any one know how close it is to the top 50? Also if anyone knows does she still have a positive bullet? I guess I'm wondering if there's still hope for this song or if its done. I really hope it's not done, I really enjoy this song and love Danielle's vocals. Was really hopping this would at least make the top 30.

She essentially got pushed out of the top 50 because a couple of huge releases (new FGL and Luke tunes) jumped right in so quickly. My bet is that YIA is still sitting around #51 or #52 on Mediabase but we just can't see anything below the top 50 cut-off. If enough songs go recurrent on Mediabase this Sunday (and sabre14 will probably know which songs will be leaving), it's possible that Danielle can sneak back onto the published top 50 chart. I don't know if this will turn into a hit or not...I have my doubts, even though it is a pleasant listen and very radio-friendly. She's just getting lost in the shuffle right now amid all the other new artists that are being launched as well as a bunch of superstar releases.

The song has grown on me a little, but I still think this (and the majority of tracks on her album) absolutely represents the wrong lane for her.
The song is called "Young in America" but does not feel young at all. Same with Heart of Dixie. These are adult contemporary country tracks rather than things akin to the tracks on Hunter Hayes' first album and Taylor Swift's first and second albums. That's what she should be releasing - high-energy, youthful songs with sincerely youthful lyrics.

Aside from the more mature subject matter of "The Heart of Dixie," neither that song or this one sound in any way 'adult contemporary' to me. This song in particular is very light and airy and actually sounds to me like something that could've been on Taylor Swift's debut album, like "Mary's Song (Oh My My My)." And it's interesting you bring up Hunter Hayes in that regard since many had the exact opposite feeling towards his debut, saying that it did lean towards a more adult contemporary sound. When I think of that type of direction, I think more like what Lady Antebellum's Own the Night album, and not songs like "Young in America." I feel like this is literally the perfect song for her and I love the production and her delivery is completely spot-on. The only complaint I had with her debut single was that it didn't quite fit her as far as emotionally connecting with the lyric, but it was definitely a great, country song. I think perhaps someone like Sunny Sweeney would've done more justice to "The Heart of Dixie," but I feel more obligated to overlook Bradbery's rendering of the song not matching up to where it should be for the simple fact that she chose to record and release such a refreshing tune at all. This one definitely fits her much better though and I wish it would pick up and start to show signs of being a hit, because I absolutely love it.

This one definitely fits her much better though and I wish it would pick up and start to show signs of being a hit, because I absolutely love it. All albums have to have variety. I have no problem with her recording tracks like Mary's Song or White Horse, but when I'm thinking of paralleling Taylor's first two albums, I'm looking more for Picture to Burn, Should Have Said No, You Belong With Me, The Outside, The Way I Loved You type stuff. If you want to go more in the low-key realm, then Teardrops in My Guitar and Hey Stephen, which still have that "teenage love story" feel. In terms of Danielle, while I don't think Dance Hall is a very strong (or musically youthful) song, it kind of gets more at the general idea from a lyrical standpoint. She also needs something that would allow tweens and teens to dance at the lake. Very little of that on this album. She also needs something that presents her as a personality rather than a vocalist. Very little of that on this album. My thinking is that if Martina McBride wouldn't sound ridiculous singing the song, it isn't a perfect fit for a 17-year-old's album. And the song might be called "Young in America," but I could still see any number of older female country singers doing just as well with this.

She's just getting lost in the shuffle right now amid all the other new artists that are being launched as well as a bunch of superstar releases. Craig and Justin will officially go recurrent on MB this Sunday. That allows two openings in the top 50. One will of course go to FGL, and the other right now is a toss up between Josh and Danielle. Right now I'd give the edge to Josh to land at #50 but Danielle could get a better update tomorrow. Either way, whether it's #50 or #51, Danielle and others desperately need songs to leave the chart ASAP, and I think that wish will soon be granted. Easton and Gloriana's songs are officially done with some horrible updates today and yesterday, Parmalee is stating to run out of steam, and George is hanging on by a thread. Plus Blake will be gone by next Sunday and The Band Perry will be gone in two weeks. If all those songs leave the chart two Sunday's from now, that will be 6 singles going recurrent the next two weeks and probably at the very least 4. Plus who knows if some other songs lose their bullet from now til then. The trick for these songs including Danielle's is to weather the storm til the dust settles. I agree though that this song is just being forgotten about with many PD's the past two months. This is one of the most competitive charts I've seen in a very long time and in 2014 that's saying something. It's not just the influx of impressive newcomers, but all the heavy hitters releasing new music (Luke, FGL, Kenny, Flatts). Not to mention new lead singles from Garth and Jason by months end. It remains to be seen if "Young In America" can become a moderate hit but unfortunately I'm not optimistic about most singles in the 40's and 50's right now.

Danielle's song is pretty much done unfortunately. It loses over .300 in audience and over 200 spins on Billboard this week, while on MB it's down a massive amount of points (over 600) and falls to #52.
I'm disappointed that this faltered so much at country radio. After not warming up to this single decision at first, I grew to love this song over the coming weeks. This summer was just a super tough time of year for newer artists to have singles charting.

Sadly not too surprised after seeing how badly this has struggled from the beginning, but definitely disappointed. This was her best shot at another hit from the album imo, and a really radio-friendly track and totally age-appropriate. Considering how well her debut single did, I expected this to at least make it to around the Top 30 or so, performing on par with recent newer female follow-ups like "Blowin' Smoke" and "Whiskey." I wonder what the next step is from here though. I can't see another single from the album doing any better.
