The live version sounds more like Brad's music from a few years ago. I'm hoping that the studio version will sound like it too. No "Wheelhouse" effects, just classic Brad.

All Access has "River Bank's" impacting date set for April 14th. But will likely make it's chart debut before then with it being sent to radio this Friday.

I really like this. Brad is hit or miss for me, but this is a perfect summer song for me.
Classic country sound IMO and while the lyrics are nothing amazing at all (pretty cliche actually) at least it is a fun song without being Bro Country.

This is okay, but still a far cry from Brad's tradition stuff. Honestly, it still sounds wayyyyyyy overproduced if you ask me.

Pretty decent I guess. I wasn't exactly expecting a groundbreaking song from the title and preview but just a little underwhelmed. I do agree with Dustin; This is far from traditional Paisley. It's a bit overproduced but doesn't hamper it IMO. One thing I wish with the song had more of was instrumentals. The songs too short if you ask me. If you're going to have a fun, cliche, nothing new type of song, then at least have a classic Brad instrumental at the end that would help me enjoy the song more. That to me is the the best thing about songs like "Ticks", and "River Bank", are the sound and melody. The radio edit of "Ticks" ended abruptly but with "River Bank", I fully expected a long outro of guitar, but sadly the song ended right at the 2:55 mark.
I do enjoy this better than Brad's last two singles, which probably says more about "I Can't Change The World", and "The Mona Lisa" than it does about "River Bank". I'm still hopeful for his new album, and I'm praying that's it's another 5th Gear or Time Well Wasted type one.

I don't hate it but it's not amazing by any means. Maybe it will grow on me, but it is already leaps and bounds better than anything off "Wheelhouse".

I personally haven't listened to this yet, but my husband just sent me a text that said "it's no Camouflage, but it's no Mud on the Tires, either." Seems fairly average based on a lot of the response I've seen.

I like the groove and overall production but what's up with the weird effects applied to his vocals during...pretty much the whole thing? The hook is pretty cool too: "we're laughing all the way to the river bank".
I think I like it, though. I can see it growing on me some more. The chorus is pretty strong but he just sounds a little odd during the verses.

Does anyone know off hand where this song might debut on the chart after the performance on the ACM's on Sunday? Do you think a debut in the 20s might be a long stretch here? Hoping for Brad to break the first single off a new album streak of songs here lately where it started off with a bang then sputtered along and then they were gone.

It had a Clear Channel hourly deal today, but will really only have a couple of days to chart. Seeing where it debuts tomorrow on Mediabase will give a better idea.

So much better than anything on the mess of an album Wheelhouse.

It's a little overproduced for me compared to the looser instrumentation on "Beat This Summer," but I like this well enough. Not groundbreaking or fantastic, but it's solid. The lyrics are interesting -- the hook is basically not what I expected from the title "River Bank," but Brad comes up with some creative spins on those sort of things, so I liked that a lot.
Honestly, I enjoyed all the singles from Wheelhouse, so for me this stacks up as being better than "I Can't Change the World" and about on par with "The Mona Lisa" (though SCZ and BTS have this one beat imo).

does anybody know if this is the same song he previewed at his BBC Special set a few weeks back?

Good release for the summer. I really don't know how I feel about it, though. I think I like it, but I think I hate it, too, lol.

Brad has had better summer songs, but at least this is better than most of the other songs on country radio right now.

I like this more than "I Can't Change The World" and "The Mona Lisa", but nowhere near as much as "Southern Comfort Zone" or "Beat This Summer" (or a lot of his earlier work). I'm disappointed. I agree that is very overproduced - there just seems to be so much unnecessary noise in the background.

Miles better than anything on "Wheelhouse" so I'll take it. Hoping the rest of the album is better than this one though.

I actually like this song. It's catchy in a good way. It doesn't bore me like a lot of his other songs do.

This isn't "Wheelhouse" bad but it's not "5th Gear" or "Mud on the Tires" good. It's just stuck in the middle. I give it a B-

I was expecting something a lot more interesting, on a theory that this would be an important release for him as far as his position on country radio goes. His voice sounds toneless in the verses and I can't imagine wanting to hear this over and over. I miss his creativity and see no evidence of it here, although there's nothing terrible about the song.
If the standard for Brad was "nothing terrible" then I'd be happy, since he has clearly reached that level. I prefer something with better singing, better lyrics, and better production. Other than those areas of mediocrity, this is pretty fine.

Brad needs to just go away. Awful song. This is getting painful to watch. Aww really? "Wheelhouse" was a questionable project but this is the man responsible for great songs like "Whisky Lullaby", "Wrapped Around", "Mud on the Tires", "When I get Where I'm going", "Remind Me", etc, etc. I think Brad is a great artist and maybe he's getting a little washed up, but I absolutely adored "This is Country Music" (and that was only one album ago), so I'm not ready to give up on him yet. Maybe he is just trying to figure out where he fits in in this new wave of singers/trend.

Whiskey Lullaby, When I Get To Where I'm Going, and I'll add Waiting On A Woman. Those are by far the 3 best songs that Brad has recorded IMO ... and they all have 1 thing in common. Brad did not write those songs. I also agree with you that Brad is "getting a little washed up". River Bank is further proof of that. Maybe if he released a song or 2 written by other writers he could turn it back around.

He's had tons of hits with that combination but nothing really outstanding in a long time. I have often wondered why he doesn't at least co-write with a few different writers. I know his only hit from the last era included Luke Laird as a co-writer.
