According to Country Weekly, this is the next single off Riser. (And the official press release refers to it as the "second" release from Riser so apparently the era just started, folks. 3 more after this???) Audio: Writers: Chris Tompkins, Josh Kear, Dierks Bentley Adds Date: 4/21 Chart Run: Billboard: 4/7: #60 4/14: #56 4/21: #45 4/28: #39 5/5: #33

I think this is a good choice. Not an awards type of song but fun.

Thank goodness they decided to go with this. This is one of my favorite songs off the album. The entire album is great but this one is just so fun.

Yes, perfect choice! I really think this should be the 2nd #1 off this album. Might be the only other one that will get there. "Say You Do" and "Riser" or "Here on Earth" would probably peak just inside the top 10 like TIOB.

Yeah, bro country to the bone...it will definitely fly up the charts. At least he's not in a truck! ;)

Yeah, bro country to the bone...it will definitely fly up the charts. At least he's not in a truck! ;) Except it's not. I love it regardless of what people want to call it. It does mention alcohol, having sex in the air and says, "kiss my ass," so I can see why a lot of people might consider this bro country. And I really don't think we can argue with them if people believe it is. This will be a sure #1 hit hopefully followed by "Say You Do," or "Five."

Trading a truck for a plane and sex and drinking. All the ingredients for bro country. Aren't we entitled to our opinions on here??

It's a party song. I don't know if ALL party songs should be labeled Bro or not. The thing that saves this one for me is the storytelling. It's a very fresh and clever story IMO.

I don't even really feel that this is a party song. It's a break-up song (and indirectly a party song!) He's on the plane and his fiance has just left him, so he's going on the honeymoon by himself...and he tries to drown his sorrows with the rest of the passengers.
People can certainly have their own definitions of bro-country, sure, but this doesn't fall within mine (and, for the record, I don't hate all bro-country songs. For example, I'd label Randy Houser's "Runnin' Outta Moonlight" as largely a 'bro' song and I love that one. Even David Nail's "Whatever She's Got" is quite 'bro' by nature). I simply don't like the objectifying of women or the tired cliche stereotypes, and I don't find any of that in "Drunk On A Plane". It's a pretty humorous song but also somewhat bittersweet...the guy is heartbroken, for crying out loud! ;)

Sorry about that.

I got this for free on Google Play a couple of weeks ago. I didn't erect it to be a single. I am pleasantly surprised! Auto correct fail?

I'm definitely a fan of this. It's not my favorite song off Riser, but it's certainly the right choice for summer. Its fun, original, and witty lyrics surely will help this stand out amongst the many upbeat party songs as the weather gets warmer.
On a side note, I feel like we've become obsessed with designating certain artists and/or songs as bro-country or some other title when it ultimately just starts an unnecessary argument about the negative connotations and misinterpretations of those titles.

This is a fun song and should (I hope!) do well. I still mourn for Bourbon in Kentucky.

Aren't we entitled to our opinions on here?? Yes, you're entitled to your opinion but that's one reason why I've hated that term 'bro country' from the get go. It's just a trend right now to have so many partying and/or feel-good songs on the radio. To me the FGL and other 'bro country' songs are more about the production as much as what they're singing about. This song may be a party song and fit the themes that FGL and friends often sing about but like Jamie said, it's more subversively a party song underneath a break-up song theme.

Nice. Best song Dierks has put out in a while. This song should have been FIRST single. Fun - creative lyric and story by 2 of the best songwriters out their right now (and Dierks).

While I do agree that this sounds like a typical bro-country song, this actually has a good storyline which the recent bro country songs by Luke and Blake don't.

The recent Blake song is "My Eyes," or, if you're talking about his previous release it would be, "Mine Would Be You." Either way, neither of those songs sound "bro" to me at all. As for Luke's latest, I understand why one would say "Play It Again" may sound bro, but it does have a story line too, and personally I love the storyline in "Play It Again."

I'm a much bigger fan of "Sounds of Summer" than this one, but this is still a good choice for a single. I just wish it was coming after "Sounds of Summer" :(

I just feel like SoS would get lost in the shuffle. I enjoy the song, and it's stuck in my head a lot, but I think DOAP stands out much more, in a good way. DOAP will likely be a big word of mouth song, whereas I don't think SoS would have that kind of an impact. To me, DOAP makes the most sense, both for the time of year and from a business standpoint.

I mocked up some art using fonts Which are becoming quite popular in Country Music (but are more classic like and not Bleeding Cowboys). What do you think? Also they edited the 'Ass" line out of the bridge/final verse of this song and made it have "Yeah well" instead.

Also they edited the 'Ass" line out of the bridge/final verse of this song and made it have "Yeah well" instead. Is that the new "Yeah" edit they mentioned on the ad in the Country Aircheck? Yes. This is it.
