Loved it. Dierks looks mighty fine and the actor playing jilted lover was perfect-sad, but fun and not smarmy.
Good job team :)- very well done.

Fun song. My only complaint is that the chorus mentions "Like a G6". I thought we'd forgotten about Far*East Bowel Movement by now...

This song has just exploded digitally. Based on its early success I think this could wind up as one of Dierks' very biggest hits. I can see it becoming his biggest hit ever, or at least since "Sideways" or possibly back to "Come A Little Closer". As far as I can tell he has 8 singles that are certified Gold by the RIAA but no Platinum singles yet. "Drunk On A Plane" may very well become his first Platinum single, and I have no doubt that it'll be another chart-topper for him.

It's not doing so bad at radio, either. Today's Mediabase bullet is 718 and my rough math has it up about 4 million there for the week. May crack the top 20 on Billboard, too. In it's 8th or 9th week? Totally different chart run from I Hold On. Just crazy.
My only hope is that the success of DOAP will create enough momentum to carry the next couple of singles, one of which I'm sure will be "Riser" which still makes me nervous... (he indicated on Twitter last week he'd like to see "Five" as a single. The songs he's doing on the [must-see] Riser Tour are BiK (!!), IHO, DOAP, and Riser.)

I would be shocked if they didn't release "Sounds of Summer" next year, most likely as the 4th single (not including BIK). That song is an easy future #1 IMO.

I say pull a "Voices" with "Bourbon in Kentucky", and we're good.

I love this song. Another cracker from Dierks. I am hoping Say You Do is the next single, would love to hear him do that live.

I'm not thinking the signs are good for a Bourbon in Kentucky revival. From yesterday's Detroit Free Press www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2014305280026The song (BIK) — a slow-burning, brokenhearted duet with Kacey Musgraves that’s full of sadness and disappointment (“There ain’t enough bourbon in Kentucky for me to forget you”) — just wasn’t what country radio was looking for.
“You have a lot of fun things happening at radio, and all of a sudden, you have this song that comes on that kind of just, some radio programmers told me it literally stopped the station in its track,” Bentley says. “I get that, and I appreciate their honesty. I think some guys would have gone to the wall for me and continued to play it. And I had some guys that were real honest and just said: ‘Man, it’s a tough song for us to play. It’s heavy.’ But it was real. I was going through some stuff there. That was a dark song that I just gravitated toward. We put it out there and mainly saw that it was going to be a struggle and a fight. So yeah, we pulled it.”The upside: Dierks is headlining the Detroit Hoedown tonight!

“You have a lot of fun things happening at radio, and all of a sudden, you have this song that comes on that kind of just, some radio programmers told me it literally stopped the station in its track,” Bentley says. How about we get rid of a few "fun" bro-country songs and add a few deeper, "Bourbon In Kentucky" type songs, and then maybe it won't be such a shock to radio when it comes on. In the past, hasn't country radio typically had room for both fun and heartache? Only recently has it seemed like all bro, all the time.

I don't see the problem with this idea that it interrupted the chain of the fun songs when it came on radio. Like, I get that the market is saturated with that right now, but it didn't stop songs like "I Drive Your Truck." Seems like radio PDs are doing the absolute least and not wanting to try anymore.

Dierks rocked it last night!
When the album first came out, I would have never guessed this song would become as huge as it is already. The crowd was absolutely into it where I was standing!

Dierks was incredible at the Detroit Hoedown last night, as always. I too was amazed how much the crowd was into DOAP (they showed the video during the song) as well as I Hold On. Frankly there really weren't many (if any) songs that the crowd wasn't into.
I don't know if ya'll noticed that it looks like Dierks modified his DOAP video. The start seems to have been modified so there isn't any reference to the pilot "tipping it on back". I'm wondering if he got some major pushback on the video. It's still funny, despite the edit.

I just checked YouTube and it still has "Pilot Dierks" telling the passengers that in 30 minutes the flight attendants will be out with a full drink service so 'feel free to make full use of that'. He then turns to the co-pilot and hoists a red solo cup and says "I know we will" wink wink, lol.

Since the concert videos went into production before the final cut of the video was released, it's possible it's a slightly different edit being used on the tour vs. what's out now. I honestly hadn't noticed the difference until now.
Ugh I need another Dierks show, stat. September is too damn far away.

There must be a few versions out there. The video originally premiered on Funny or Die and it referenced "tip it on back" and then showed Dierks (as the pilot) raising a red solo cup. Then a few days later it had a wierd dub that didn't make sense at the start and didn't have the pilot toasting w/ the red solo cup. Now the version on Dierk's Vevo account doesn't have the "tip it on back" reference but does show the red solo cup in the pilot's hands.
Curious...

Yeah, I did notice the "tip it on back" reference the first time I watched the video but I can't seem to find it in there now. Strange. I can't quite remember what the reference once exactly (but I know I caught it the first time I watched the video)...someone remind me, how did they fit the TIOB reference in there again?

Yeah, it was in the beginning. Dierks said 'feel free to tip it on back' then looked at Steve (drummer/"co-pilot") and said "I know we will."

Up 7 spots to #21 on MB with a increase of nearly 2200 points and over 700 spins! It also is up 3 million in audience and three spots on Billboard at #20 after just 9 weeks. I find it hard to not imagine "Drunk On A Plane" being one of Dierks' biggest hits of his career thus far.

With Justin, Luke, and probably Craig all looking to go recurrent next week on Billboard, this song should make the top 10 already. The sales have been unbelievable for this one, and it looks like it will be one of the top singles of the year after everything is said and done. Hard to believe this is the same guy who over a year ago was struggling with "Bourbon in Kentucky". This song could really help break Dierk into the upper echelon of country superstars.

Will this be a contender for Dierks' fastest rising number 1 hit? I know most of his singles climb steadily or even slowly.

looks like it will be one of the top singles of the year after everything is said and done. The problem it has in being one of the top singles of the year is its only gonna spend about 23 wks on the chart. Dont most of songs that end up in the year end top 10 accumulate lots of wks so they build up a huge aud #.

Does anyone else's station edit the "kiss my ass" line?
It's hit or miss around here. WATZ doesn't edit it, WKCQ plays the "kiss my… yeah" version, and WKJC just snipped out "ass" manually, causing the song to skip a beat there. Bob Kingsley also uses the "kiss my… yeah" version.

The Highway plays the original (real) version, as does one of the Charlotte stations. The other one plays the "kiss my ... yeah" version.

I've only heard the edited version here. I don't think any of them are playing it uncensored. I'm kind of surprised to hear that not all are playing the edited version tbqh.

My local stations seem pretty indecisive on what they do and don't censor. Then again, so are the labels — I've never heard anyone edit "haul ass home" out of "Point at You" or "wild-ass buddies" out of "All About Tonight", for example.
