YOUR NEW RELEASES: Frozen will retain the #1 spot next week and could well remain there until mid-May, when either Mariah Carey or NOW 50 will likely take over the top spot. Both titles are currently scheduled for release on 5/6 and will bow on the HITS Building Album Sales Chart on 5/12. Here, meanwhile, are this week's key debuts:
Black Label Society (eOne) 25-28k SoMo (Republic) 23-26k MercyMe (Fair Trade) 20-22k Martina McBride (Sharon's Rose/Vinyl Recordings) 20-22k

Frozen is a phenomenon.
Doubt Mariah will debut at #1. Or release the album in May.

Is Titanic the longest running soundtrack #1 at 16 weeks? Frozen will have a hard time besting that particular record.
Edit: Hunter Hayes' new album is also releasing on May 6th, and could easily go #1.

Yeah, Mariah at #1 is doubtful considering YM(E) is dead or about to die at radio.

Titanic The Bodyguard is the longest running #1 soundtrack of the Soundscan era. West Side Story had way more weeks at number one. It holds the all-time record for BB200.

www.billboard.com/articles/news/6042289/frozen-aiming-for-10th-week-atop-billboard-200'Frozen' Aiming for 10th Week Atop Billboard 200By Keith Caulfield, Los Angeles | April 09, 2014 8:01 PM EDT Disney's "Frozen" movie soundtrack is about to enter rare air on the Billboard 200 chart. The hit soundtrack, which has spent nine nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, is heading for a 10th week atop the list -- so suggest industry forecasters. Since Nielsen SoundScan's point-of-sale data began powering the Billboard 200 chart's rankings on May 25, 1991, only 10 albums have spent at least 10 weeks at No. 1. The last to do so was Adele's "21," which ruled for 24 nonconsecutive weeks in 2011 and 2012. (In the 58-year history of the Billboard 200, a total of 69 albums have spent 10 or more weeks at No. 1.) While it's too early to tell just how many copies "Frozen" will sell in the week ending Sunday, April 13, those in the know say it will be miles ahead of all other titles on the chart. In the most recent tracking frame, which ended on April 6, the album sold 149,000 copies in its ninth week at No. 1. It would seem likely for the set to sell more than 100,000 in the week ending April 13. The new Billboard 200's top 10 will be revealed on Wednesday, April 16. The last soundtrack to spend at least 10 weeks at No. 1 was "Titanic," which sailed atop the list for 16 straight weeks in 1998. If "Frozen" chills for a 10th week at No. 1, it will tie Disney's "The Lion King" as the longest-running No. 1 animated film soundtrack. "The Lion King" roared at No. 1 for 10 nonconsecutive weeks in 1994 and 1995. Next week's Billboard 200 chart won't likely see a new No. 1, but there could be some notable debuts in the top 10. Rock band Black Label Society's "Catacombs of the Black Vatican" might sell 25,000 to 30,000 to debut in the top 10, while singer SoMo may start with around 25,000 of his self-titled album. MercyMe's new "Welcome to the New" could sell 20,000 or so, as could Martina McBride's covers album "Everlasting."

YOUR TOP 15: Consumers just can’t let it go. Disney’s Frozen soundtrack will spend a tenth non-consecutive week at #1 when it tops our next Album Sales Chart. No title has logged that many weeks in the top spot since Adele's 21 ruled 2011-2012 with an astounding 24 weeks at #1. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend: 1. Frozen (Walt Disney) 125-135k 2. 5 Seconds of Summer (Capitol) 27-30k 3. Black Label Society (eOne) 24-27k 4. MercyMe (Fair Trade) 23-26k 5. SoMo (Republic) 23-26k 6. Pharrell Williams (Columbia) 23-26k 7. Martina McBride (Sharon's Rose/Vinyl Recordings) 20-22k 8. Johnny Cash (Sony Legacy) 18-20k 9. Now 49 (NOW) 17-19k 10. Shakira (RCA/Sony Latin) 17-19k 11. Luke Bryan (Capitol Nashville) 16-18k 12. Florida Georgia Line (Republic Nashville) 15-17k 13. Lorde (Lava/Republic) 15-17k 14. Eric Church (EMI Nashville) 13-15k 15. John Legend (Columbia) 13-15k The ACM bounce stretches out for Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line and Eric Church—to which we would offer a hearty “yee-haw,” if only we knew how. (4/10p)

Wow 5 Seconds of Summer will still be at #2 with those sales, smh. I just went into John Legend's thread wondering about his sales and he is mentioned in this top 15.

I'm actually very curious to see who's gonna unseat Frozen eventually. Black Keys? Future? Miranda Lambert?

Lawdy, it if weren't for Frozen, we'd be seeing new record lows for a SoundScan-era No. 1.

I just went into John Legend's thread wondering about his sales and he is mentioned in this top 15. His total sales are about 420k. He's #42 for albums released in 2013, but this week will bring him to #38. ------- Frozen will pass 2 million sales this week. It will also pass Marshall Mathers 2 to become the #2 album released in 2013.

There's really no big names putting out albums this month so I can see why there's no huge numbers. I can't see Mariah putting out big numbers either. Her time seems to have passed. Is there anyone big putting out an album in the next couple of months? Adele needs to put out a surprise album a la Beyoncé to save music in 2014.

These artists last albums all sold 1 million (or are about to sell 1 million):
Hunter Hayes Black Keys Brantley Gilbert Coldplay Phillip Phillips Miranda Lambert
So that's 6 albums that should be able to scan 500k

Brantley Gilbert's new album (May 19) will sell more than his last did, and Hunter Hayes' sophomore album should sell well. Rascal Flatts will also probably do well with their May 13 release.

History has shown that the follow-ups to those monster, once-in-a-decade blockbusters usually peter out pretty quickly. Tapestry - 10x Platinum Music - Platinum Jagged Little Pill - 16x Platinum Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie - 3x Platinum Come Away With Me - 10x Platinum Feels Like Home - 4x Platinum All of those first albums came out of nowhere, won Grammy's for Album of the Year and each sold over 20 million copies worldwide.
