YOUR NEW RELEASES: Frozen will easily rule next week's album chart andβthanks to its arrival in Starbucks (presumably at child's-eye-level) and Easter, could approach 200k. You'll note that Disney's relentless soundtrack just passed the 2 million sales mark. Meanwhile, here are this weekβs key debuts, including Frozen Karaoke, a dream gumbo of our two favorite things: Frozen and karaoke. August Alsina (Grand Hustle/Def Jam) 50-60k Ingrid Michaelson (Cabin 24/Mom+Pop) 45-50k NEEDTOBREATHE (Atlantic) 45-50k Jason Derulo (Warner Bros.) 30-35k Breathe Carolina (Fearless) 10-12k Frozen Karaoke (Walt Disney) 8-10k Speaking of karaoke, who's up for a reprise of "Dayenu"? We know Passover's done, but we just didn't get enough. (4/16p)

Nice for Frozen. Expected Jason to do a tad more, but he's obviously going the route A LA Flo'rida!

The Frozen soundtrack is making mincemeat of every other album out there.

Surprisingly great numbers for Ingrid! INCREDIBLE numbers for Ingrid. Her previous best sales week was 40k for Human Again, which debuted at #5. In terms of artists she compares to: Regina Spektor's best sales week was 50,000 for far, Brandi Carlile's was 27,000 for Bear Creek, Feist's was 38,000 for Metals. Edit: Oh I left out the one that should have been the most obvious: Sara Bareilles did a 90k first week for Kaleidoscope Heart, and then dropped to 68k on The Blessed Unrest.

How/why is Frozen still selling so well? Wow. Easter sales! CDs and DVDs are still the popular gifts for what's not really a big gift-giving holiday.

I have a feeling some of those numbers will be adjusted down. Ingrid isn't even the highest on itunes. ARE people really going to get that much of her album from retail?

The Frozen soundtrack is crossing 200k for Easter, and the DVD/Blu-ray is still outselling every other release 3 to 1.
The film will cross $400 million at the domestic box office this weekend as well.

I can't believe Frozen will scan 3 million. Who would have thunk?

Jason's numbers are about what I expected...but August Alsina outselling him is not.

One would assume there were none before 1985

"In other "Frozen" news: the karaoke version of the soundtrack -- as part of the Disney Karaoke series -- was released on April 15 as well. Sources say it could sell around 10,000 copies in the week ending April 20 -- an unusually high figure for a karaoke set. The last time a karaoke album sold more than 10,000 copies in a week was the week ending Dec. 22, 2013, when the "Tween Hits" set from the Party Tyme Karaoke series sold just over 10,000." www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6055547/no-stopping-frozen-album-as-11th-week-at-no-1-seems-likelyBillboard cracks me up. "This is such a rare feat!!! ... that was last achieved four months ago."

Two problems with this
1. I don't see that this ever charted (at least since 1985) 2. There is no 12/22/2013 chart

2. There is no 12/22/2013 chart They said "week ending 12/22/2013". The chart in question is dated 1/4/2014. Although Tween Hits wasn't on the Billboard 200.

Shouldn't 10K be enough to be listed somewhere?

Maybe the label asked it not to chart like Bieber's label did for Journals?

So they delayed Jason Derulo's album until 7 months after international release and it still doesn't sell much, lol.

YOUR TOP 15: As we noted earlier, Frozen will score its biggest week yet as it snowballs its way to an 11th non-consecutive week at #1. Hereβs how it looks headed into the weekend: 1. Frozen (Disney) 225-250k 2. August Alsina (NNTME/Def Jam) 60-65k 3. Ingrid Michaelson (Cabin 24/Mom+Pop) 40-45k 4. NEEDTOBREATHE (Atlantic) 40-45k 5. Pharrell Williams (Columbia) 35-40k 6. Jason Derulo (Warner Bros.) 30-35k 7. Now 49 (NOW) 19-22k 8. 5 Seconds of Summer (Capitol) 18-21k 9. Shakira (RCA/Sony Latin) 18-21k 10. Lorde (Lava/Republic) 17-20k 11. Luke Bryan (Capitol Nashville) 17-20k 12. Florida Georgia Line (Republic Nashville) 16-18k 13. Johnny Cash (Sony Legacy) 15-17k 14. Kidz Bop Kids (Razor & Tie) 14-16k 15. Eric Church (EMI Nashville) 13-15k By the by, now that Frozen is for sale in Starbucks, be sure to get your kids hopped up on espresso so they'll sing those songs even louder. Whee! (4/17p)

The difference is that Sara has had a pop hit from each album and two #1 albums? (or did TBU not hit #1?). All of the other examples hopefully can and will improve with their next respective records. Brandi I have my fingers crossed tightest for. Bear Creek was an awesome record.

Brandi I have my fingers crossed tightest for. Bear Creek was an awesome record. Yeah Sara's clearly on a different level of name recognition, but the two artists are pretty closely linked. I think Regina may have peaked in album sales, but yessss Brandi is still building a following over time
