Didn't feel like embedding all 4 tweets bc lazy. Gotta love the power of screenshots! ETA: Just listened to WTNY in full. Sonically, it's great. Lyrically, it's irksome. Least favorite of the 3 we've heard thus far. "Out of the Woods" is still in a league of its own.

The only thing I could visualize while listening to this song was that fashion montage of Anne Hathaway walking the streets of New York in The Devil Wears Prada. Considering that is one of my favorite movies, not a bad visual.

This is the worst one so far. Definitely not a classic Taylor song but I also hated State of Grace so not good to judge the entire cd off the first song.

Finally, someone else who hates 'State of Grace'! It seems like everyone else loves it, but it's tied with 'The Lucky Ones' as my least favorite song on that album.

Love it so much. And with all these amazing interviews and photo shoots, she's making it so fucking easy to stan for her.

Sonically and musically, the song is awesome. As for the actual lyrics and sentiment of the song - not my favorite. It's just all kind of weird to me. For what it's worth, I think it'd make a great song for a movie set in NYC though... Can't wait to hear the whole album later this week!

I mean it's... cute? It sounds like it could be on Hilary Duff's "Metamorphosis" album. Come on Taylor, you are better than this.
But this doesn't mean I'm not BOPPING.

I know people aren't hating on State of Slay now. It was the first Taylor track that I loved. That and Holy Ground which Out of the Woods seems like a sequel of sorts to.

I thought it sounded familiar. You can slap 'Out of the Woods' over 'XO' (and vice versa) and they sound like they're made for each other.

"Welcome To New York" is cute and perfectly serviceable, but I'm glad people who have heard the album are saying it's one of the worst. It's just very lightweight, though some lines are pretty great and signature Taylor ("Walking through the crowd the village is aglow, kaleidescope of loud heartbeats under coats" in particular).
"Out of the Woods" remains fucking perfect though. I need this album to leak in a few days, please.

My least favorite so far, but I still really like it, and the interest just keeps rising! I haven't felt this hyped for an album since DEMI.

Taylor's The Ellen Show Appearance Confirmed.A Taylor Swift Special Event! Monday, 10.27.14 :: Filed Under: Episodes :: Comments A Taylor Swift Special Event! It may be 2014 in the real world, but it's "1989" in Ellen's room when one of her favorite guests, TAYLOR SWIFT, comes by to celebrate her brand new album! There will be music. There will be dancing. There will be fans, friends and games! Most importantly, there will be so much Taylor! If anyone is limitless in Hollywood, it's Taylor Swift. The "Fearless" singer-songwriter can write an ingenious "Love Story," then throw it out and celebrate being single with her chart-topping pop hit, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together." She banishes the "Mean" bullies, lifts spirits by challenging us all to "Shake It Off," and leaves her fans "Enchanted" after each and every performance. While she's only 24, Taylor has already taken home 7 Grammys, 15 American Music Awards, and 9 Country Music Association Awards, among countless other honors. This year, she was named Billboard magazine's Woman of the Year for the second time, and her album's dropping today! Every time Taylor comes by the show, she and Ellen have an all-out blast! Ellen has scared Taylor more times than anyone can count, and Taylor has done her share of surprising while she's here. This visit will certainly follow suit! Love, life, music, touring, Ellen and Taylor will talk about it all, and of course, the singer will be performing new music from "1989"! On Monday, Ellen's treating her fans to Taylor Swift www.ellentv.com/episodes/a-taylor-swift-special-event/Interesting is one week from today,The album will be on Itunes US!!! The Deluxe will be out on International Itunes.

I wonder if it's coincidence that the first three tracks released have repetitive lyrics or if that will be a theme on the record. If prevalent throughout the record, is it attributable to the co-writers or the concerted focus on pop?

If prevalent throughout the record, is it attributable to the co-writers or the concerted focus on pop? I kind of figured that "Welcome to New York" would be repetitive because of Ryan Tedder's involvement. The man is a gifted producer, but he sure does love his repetition.
