Never better said... TAYLOR'S IMPACT

What's still a little bit concerning is that it hasn't been acknowledged whether songwriters will also get paid, and the rate of payment per stream has yet to be disclosed. In fact, Apple SVP Eddie Cue declined to answer the royalty rate question in this interview: bigstory.ap.org/urn:publicid:ap.org:0cc031d487c14fbcafe2886fd8feaa8dI won't be surprised if Taylor continues to hold 1989 off Apple Music until those royalty rates are clarified.

She's gotten such incredible good will from this Apple Music issue, I've seen everyone from Anita Baker to Miguel to NARAS to a whole host of indie artist/labels thanking and praising her. There has been literally hundreds/thousands of articles about the whole thing (including an incredibly positive one by notorious hater Bob Lefsetz), but this one from Pitchfork is my favorite: She has sort of cemented her place as the most powerful woman in music right now. At the age of 25.

I really want to know what it is about Apple music that is different from Spotify. That's not even a shady question - like legitimately I am curious about the division of and structure of royalites to artists/songwriters and how they differ between the two.

Finally Good. Now I can finally hear the rest of 1989. Or you could have dropped $15 to buy it a long time ago like 4 million+ others.

Apple will pay 71,5%, Spotify pays 70%. Per play. But if anyones asks her, or anyone else that thinks that Apple has a better/more fair business plan, they will probably talk about how Apple doesn't have a free option, being that way more respectful toward the artists...its complete bulls**t, cuz at the end of the day the labels will be the ones staying with most of the money. 70% of what? What are these percentages coming out of?

Yes Apple's per-play percentage isn't much more, but all of Apple's pay-outs will be from customer's $9.99 monthly payment. Spotify's 70% is from 20 million premium customers and over 55 million free users. I just read an article that said the Spotify free user contributes $0.19 cents a month on average, compared to the $9.99 premium user. Percentage pay-out isn't really the most important piece of this puzzle, but volume seems to be. It's not bullshit, it's a legitimate argument.

Ok, makes sense to me now.. It's that free user situation that makes a difference (or does it - it will be interesting to see what the actually payouts from Apple music are)

From her Hyde Park show. 65,000 in attendance: Also #8 on Forbes annual Celebrity 100 with $80 million, they changed their ranking criteria this year to only earnings (which is why Floyd Mayweather is #1). Fourth highest musician after Katy ($135 million)/One Direction ($130 million)/Garth Brooks ($90 million), and the only one that wasn't touring during the eligibility period (although I think the first five dates of this tour might have counted).

The bit about her not touring is absolutely crucial. This woman is beyond powerful right now. Her ascent was swift (excuse the pun) and with purpose, and god damn does she absolutely command her position as HBIC right now.
She is so... impressive.

Well, she did have 12 dates in the tracking period, but compared to: Katy Perry - 124 shows Garth Brooks - 118 shows One Direction - 76 shows (from which over 50 were in stadium sized venues - a.k.a. 30K+ people) it truly is nothing

I'd like the next single to be either 'How You Get the Girl' or 'All You Had to Do Was Stay', but I have a feeling it's going to be 'New Romantics', which I'd be okay with, too.
