Going through my Ipod on the late 2013/2014 releases, I noticed some potential for some actually really decent singles for later this year. Paired with upcoming projects for other acts, could it be 2014 not be too bad?? I know this bro-country crap is taking over now, but given what we have coming later this year, it could turn out OK. See what I've come up with below
Billy Currington - After "We Are Tonight" (blah) peaks in late summer, the label almost has to put out "One Way Ticket" or the fan-fave "23 Degrees South". Both of these songs would sound fantastic in fall months. Nothing else on the album would appeal for single #3
Justin Moore - LTNR should make Top 10, after which hopefully we get to see "Old Habits", which probably would have been single #2 had Keith Urban not released We Were Us. We can also hope for "One Dirt Road" , "That's How I Know You Love Me" or "This Kind of Town" All 3 of those scream hit
Eric Paslay - Everyone here agree "She Don't Love You" HAS to be the next single? This song has Song of The Year written all over it. And it sticks out from every other song on the album. They would be fools to not release this in Sep/October as the 3rd single. Which is just fine with me
Frankie Ballard - if "Sunshine & Whiskey" proves to be a big hit, I'd look for label to release "Don't You Wanna Fall" as the next single, to show another side of Frankie. Song would be superb on fall-time playlists.
Joe Nichols - "Yeah" should easily make #1 by August/Sep. In which point, I see label releasing either "Just Let Me Fall in Love With You", "Better Than Beautiful" or hopefully "Crickets". All 3 make perfect sense for next single.
Eric Church - Anything he releases next would be great for radio IMO. Hopefully we can " A Man Who Was Gonna Die Young" .
Brett Eldredge - "One Mississippi" is already getting rave for next single, which would be the best. Wouldn't mind seeing "Signs" or "Mean To me" either.
Tyler Farr - If WIMW continues it's success, the ONLY other radio single i hear on the album is "Cowgirl". Very 90's sounding neo-trad like song (excpet for his vocals). After that, I would surely move on to another era
The Band Perry - with their singles not selling much anymore, who knows if we get a #5 from this era, but I would sure like to see "Pioneer", "Mother Like Mine" or "End of Time".
Jake Owen - "Beachin" is bound to be the song of the summer. I could see the label releasing "What We Ain't Got" or "One Little Kiss" as next single. Please no "Ghost Town" , I know everyone loves it but why...very bland and boring.
Chris Young - No doubt they skip on "Goodbye" as a single. Would love to see "Text Me Texas" as well.
These, coupled with new albums from consistent good-music makers such as Lee Brice, Kenny Chesney, Ashley Monroe, Josh Turner, Easton Corbin, Kacey Musgraves (possibly), Miranda, Carrie etc.
Just think, 2014 may not be too bad....
