The second album from the Irish family band, originally released in late 1997, and then re-released twice the following year.
This was The Corrs' major breakthrough in Europe and the UK. Initially, it wasn't off to a good start, with the first 3 singles missing the top 40 in the UK and the album quickly falling after debuting at #7. However, a massive break came when they covered Fleetwood Mac's Dreams for a tribute album to Rumours and played a televised concert at the Royal Albert Hall on St. Patricks Day in 1998, sending both their cover and the album into the top 10. The album ultimately spent 10 weeks at #1 in the UK and sold just shy of 3 million copies in that territory, making it one of the biggest selling albums of all times there. It was their #1 album of 1998 and #9 for 1999. Stateside, it never really took off despite promotional efforts, peaking at #72 and only going Gold. It was re-released twice after its original release in 1997, once with their breakthrough cover of Dreams and then again with the hit remixed versions of songs as well as a remixed version of Runaway from their previous album, which was the final single from the project and the biggest single.
This is one of my favorite albums (the Special Edition) from the late 90s and one of my favorite "pop" albums of all time. Aside from the fiddles that were incorporated from their traditional Irish influence, it's very MOR in its foundation. But this isn't music meant to challenge or surprise imo, it's music meant to soothe, and it does that very well. Their harmonies were always gorgeous and very pleasing to the ear. The songwriting on this album is constantly incredibly strong. Although I love the singles, my favorite tracks are the non-singles Intimacy and Love Gives, Love Takes.
