They also sound a lot better than Taylor Momsen and didn't get where they got just by looks and celebrity status.

Taylor's style emulates Cherie Currie, who was definitely better looking than she was singer. Not to mention, she's had one 5-minute television appearance since 2010. And Joan Jett had no problem letting her perform with her.

the song deserves to be Number one. It have a sweet Hair Metal rock vibe to it; which seems to be a good trend, making return appearances here and there by alot of bands now adays. If you guys don't like the song cuz of its feirce 80s vibe, that's fine, but Don't judge the song by vid; as it really is making fun of pop songs and the videos they usually put out. Now that pretty Reckless has gone number one: I actually wouldn't mind Slash & co. up there a few weeks before Nickelback takes charge.

I'm not too crazy on The Pretty Reckless myself but I don't think that the accusations that this is doing good based on Taylor's celebrity status are really called for, considering that none of their singles prior to "Heaven Knows" did anything on rock radio. And it's not like looks are the only explanation for a woman doing so well on the chart.

Why so much hate for some straight out hard rock sung by superhot women? By this thinking groups like Joan Jett, Heart, Vixen, Lita Ford never woulda gotten anywhere. I feel like @iwannago is obligated to reply to this. Gladly brotha! Lita, Heart, etc., worked their asses off to get where they are AND they were being themselves. Taylor Momsen tries WAY too hard to be other artists - particularly Courtney Love - and in my opinion it's incredibly pretentious. I wish I could get into bands like The Pretty Reckless and Halestorm because I love female rock singers, but to me they are obnoxious and almost like a parody of rock music. Also, Momsen isn't that hot. Call me when she looks like this:

I would argue pretentiousness/snobbishness is often applied AGAINST The Pretty Reckless (she's that girl from Gossip Girl, she can't be a rocker) but never by them. I don't think they view themselves as above anything, and they seem to be very respectful of acts like Courtney Love and Joan Jett.

I think Taylor looks better than said picture. And I agree with the above. They're playing the IHeartRadio festival with Taylor Swift and Coldplay. Definitely not above anything.

This song does not deserve to top Active, Active's going to the dogs now, I can safely say that Alt is better.

This song does not deserve to top Active, Active's going to the dogs now, I can safely say that Alt is better. Even though this is quite possibly the first time that an unappealing song has topped both Active and Alternative at the same time, I can safely say that the quality of Active songs (at least in the Top 20) are better than the ones in the Alternative Top 20. Can't quite agree that Alternative is better.

" paraody of rock music" is a pretty strong accusation to make at Talyor and Lizzy, especially since you say you love Female Rockers. While I do agree that Lita and Joan are hotter than all of today's female rockers put together, Talyor is the hottest rocker chic these days and has worked hard to finally get to do what she loves and that' fronting the band. Sure she had a boost with "Gossip Girl", but she coulda easily formed a pop band instead of a rock band, so I also respect her for that. Also while she respects female rockers, she actually cites male fronted bands as her inspirations and it's not Courtney Love, but Curt Cobain as her personal influence. though she has also mentioned Shirly Manson and Joan Jett at other times. I don't see any Shirly Manson in her, but I do see a bit of Joan in her charisma.. Anyway, I still hold my ground in comparing her to the 80s rock queens. The only real difference is her band hasn't crossed over to Pop, but if we were in the 80s. "Heaven Knows" woulda gone straight to number one along with Joan, Lita and Heart. That I know for a fact.

Fever....eh, you've got a point there. I usually say that Active has better songs but Alt has more good songs. I actually counted the songs I liked in both Top 20s and for me it's an even 11-11 but I think Alt has more good songs near the bottom of the chart trying to get up(R U Mine, Mother & Father and Cigarette Daydreams just debuted while Black Out Days, Get Hurt, and Seasons are down there too.) Out of my top ten songs currently charting, 7 are on Active while 5 are on Alt, but of my top 30, there's mostly Alt songs.

I think Absolution would make a good single #3. It's slower, but not quite a ballad.

This finally really clicked for me. Took about as long as "Heaven Knows" did, 3 months lol.
The pre-chorus makes this extremely poppy, but that's what's most responsible for my change of opinion, haha.

I totally agree, but instead of the word "Poppy", I'll say 80's rock vibe.basically the same thing, cuz 80s pop was rock, but it works better for me. Also the best part of the song for me.

It bothers me that a song like this -- and this goes for a lot of true active chart-toppers -- doesn't have a proper guitar solo. Some nice dose of shredding was the central ingredient to every successful glam-rock/hair-metal song, and it really should be here as well.
It's interesting - because you'd anticipate the celebrity being the musical weak link in a band like this, but I'm not sure that's the case. Taylor's voice can be very affected and disingenuous at times, but she's still a competent rock vocalist. The instrumentalists, meanwhile, seem very limited in this band.

This song is great. I don't see what everyone's problem with it is.

Guitar solos are what made Glam/Hair metal the awesomeness it was in the 80s. Def Leppard's "Photograph" always comes to mind

What goes up, must come down. "F**Ked Up World" made it's mark on Active. It's safely gonna be one of the top Rock songs of the year. Now it's time for new songs to go up.
