Nightlight joins a select group of only four other songs to spend five or more weeks at #1. I finally listened to the album last week and you can expect several tracks from the project to join the ranks soon. Since I like making up statistics, I'd give the song only a 30% chance of hanging on to tie AWOLNATION's record, as a few tracks are surging below. One of these is Trip Switch, which I heard on my local Alt station for the first time this week! It spends a third week at #2 and has roughly a 25% chance of being the #1 track next week. St. Louise Is Listening also makes a convincing move in the top positions, rising to #3. The Soul Coughing cut has a ~40% chance of being the next chart king, with the remaining 5% going to the #5 track. Molecules dips to #4, just barely missing the #2 peak of Trojans. Throne continues its rise, though its chances of sitting on the chart position matching its name are slim. Don't Wait Up is down to #6 in its 12th week in the Top 10. This impressive mark is beaten by Beck as Dreams slips to #7 in its 16th week in the Top 10. If the single can hang on one more week it ties the all time record, currently held by chart titans Dangerous and Hollow Moon. Footsteps crawls forward one position as Pop Evil struggles to make some ground in the Top 10. The one new entry to the Top 10 is FIDLAR's 40oz. On Repeat, a track that gives off some Cage the Elephant vibes and has yet to make a dent on rock radio. Finally, Outta My Mind drops to #10 with second single Chains Of Love slowly rising down below.
After Broken Bells slotted in just below the Top 50, this week's set of debuts regress back to modest position. Kasabian's Processed Beats earns the honor at #76, as bumblebeee begins to drop and no other singles from 48:13 appear ready to release. Foals offer a third track from their latest album, as album closer A Knife In The Ocean joins at #82. Civil Twilight jumps in at #84 with Holy Dove after only one week Bubbling Under. A band I have declared my hatred of in the past (though it was mostly the detestable My Sweet Summer) debuts a song at #87 with End Of The World from Dirty Heads. Pretty different sounding for their standards, and quite catchy. San Fermin was a band I discovered when they opened for alt-J a few weeks ago, and this week they earn their first ever charting track with Emily at #90. Failure log Hot Traveler at #92; the track should have a nice jump next week. DIIV were just about to start dropping down the ranks of the Bubbling Under when I gave Doused one last listen last week. I suddenly realized why it made the BU chart in the first place, and this week it joins at #95. Finally, Tongues. (another band with a period in their name, how long until they have 2 #1 hits?) chart with Religion at #98. Not sure where it will end up peaking yet.
Keep Your Eyes Peeled holds at #1 on the Bubbling Under chart and should likely debut next week. The Recurrent #1 shifts back to QOTSA as well, with I Appear Missing grabbing its second week atop that chart. Six songs have now clinched spots in the year-end Top 100 countdown, and with only 11 weeks left the other spots should fill up very quickly. One milestone I missed last week was Let It Happen becoming the 13th song to spend 30 or more weeks on the chart. It has the best chance of any track in a while to topple Carnivore's all-time weeks record, in the process becoming the first track to hit 40 weeks. It's going to be very close. Trip Switch defies the odds and percentages I made up last week and becomes the chart's 35th to #1 in its 13th week on the chart. That long climb is tied with two other songs for the third longest rise to the top in chart history (just behind Kathleen and Weight Of Love tied at 15 weeks). St. Louise Is Listening gets shut out from the top spot, but still rises to #2. I'm not sure if it will get to the top now, though considering my positions changed from last week, who knows. Nightlight falls to #3 after an impressive five week run at the top of the chart. Silversun Pickups should add their second single to the chart soon. Throne sneaks up one position to #4 but most likely won't hit the Top 3 with some fast-rising songs below. Don't Wait Up gets another free week in the Top 5 due to its slow descent and Atlas Genius plummeting down the Top 10. It becomes the 11th song to spend 13 or more weeks in the Top 10. Footsteps jumps two spots to #6, with a decent chance at hitting the Top 5. 40oz. On Repeat should be an outside contender for #1 in a few weeks, and is proving to be a nice holdover as I wait for Cage the Elephant to drop their lead single. S.O.B. enters the Top 10 at #8 with momentum on its side. Molecules is the big loser in the Top 10 this week, dropping 5 spots. Finally, in one of the longest climbs to the Top 10 in chart history, Lydia from Highly Suspect enters at #10 in its 15th week. After running the numbers, the historic climb is the fourth longest in that category, only four weeks shorter than the 19 week trek that Lampshades On Fire took to grab that record.
Hot Shot Debut goes to a band that I've never really gotten into until now, Love Me from The 1975 at #61. As Nothing But Thieves top the chart, they also chart their second track with Wake Up Call at #73. Tame Impala have had a pretty successful run on the chart with Currents, and they log a fourth track from the album with New Person, Same Old Mistakes at #80. This track might outperform the last two and give the group their third Top 10 hit. The Moth & The Flame enter with Young & Unafraid at #84 after only one week in the Bubbling Under depths. Queens Of The Stone Age keep plugging along with songs from ...Like Clockwork. This week Keep Your Eyes Peeled joins at #87 after a few weeks leading the BU crowd. One slot down is Criminal from The Revivalists. They just recently charted with Keep Going from their latest album, but that song sputtered out at a #83 peak. Expect this new cut to fly well above its predecessor. Third Eye Blind join a crowd of 90s bands charting tracks from 2015 albums, as Everything Is Easy debuts at #94. Can it beat Collective Soul's recent attempt? (Spoiler: if it can move up one spot, it does). Finally, Macklemore, Ryan Lewis, and a bunch of other people join at #98 with Downtown, a track that I wasn't a huge fan of right away but has grown on me recently. This shouldn't reach the heights of songs from their last album but might scratch out a Top 50 peak.
The Bubbling Under crown is passed to Bring Me The Horizon's Drown. I'm more of a fan of the single version compared to the album version, but either way the track should chart soon. Recurrent title moves to ex-main chart #1 Moaning Lisa Smile in its first week off the main chart. As we move towards the end of 2015, only 10 charts remain to determine the best tracks of the year! The Top 100 countdown still has six spots locked in, but new tracks should be very nervous. The highest potential slot available for a new track is #76, and that window could completely close as early as next week. Until then, I'll just keep doing the weekly updates. Trip Switch holds on for a second week at #1, blocking Soul Coughing from their second #1 in chart history. Nothing But Thieves have yet to put their album on Spotify so I have yet to listen to it; that could provide a strong boost for the song in a week or so. St. Louise Is Listening spends a second week at #2, likely to miss out on the very top of the chart. Nightlight misses the chance to match AWOLNATION's total weeks at #1 record, but holds at #3 with at least a month left in the Top 10. S.O.B. rockets up four positions within the Top 10. The radio play of the track is starting to burn on me ever so slightly, but that shouldn't impact the song's eventual peak here. Lydia is the big winner in the top group this week, clearing half of the songs that were above it last week. Finally got around to listening to their album this week and I'm sorry it took me so long to do so. Great record that should bring at least four more songs to my chart. FIDLAR move up to #6 with a waning bullet, though could stretch to a Top 5 peak. Pop Evil start to take some Footsteps in a backwards direction (I know, I'm sorry) and drop one spot to #7. With In Disarray matching its name and dropping off this week, their second single announcement might be what brings this album back to life. Mountain At My Gates is the only new entry in the Top 10 this week, becoming Foals' second Top 10 hit and their highest peaking track ever (Inhaler peaked at #10 back in late September 2014). Throne falls four spots with a very competitive Top 10 as the culprit. Finally, Robert DeLong spends his 14th and probably last week in the Top 10 with Don't Wait Up. Only five other songs have matched or beaten that statistic. The second wave of Soul Coughing continues to wash over the chart, with the Hot Shot Debut this week continuing the trend with White Girl at #70. I still have at least three more Soul Coughing songs I want to chart before they become ineligible next year so expect their success to continue. Mac Miller charts his second single from GO:OD AM with Brand Name at #75. This album really exceeded my expectations compared to his past projects; 100 Grandkids still has a decent chance at becoming a Top 10 hit. Bring Me The Horizon chart Drown at #80. I've officially decided that I prefer the single version over the album version but that shouldn't impact. Red Sun Rising failed to grab my full attention with Alice In Chains/The Offspring hybrid The Otherside until it hit #1 on Active. Debuting at #85, the song should build more momentum as I become more familiar with it. Weezer's new single Thank God For Girls brought forth the ire of many unsatisfiable Weezer diehards, but I thought the track was an example of Weezer's tongue-in cheek style done correctly. It debuts at #88 on the chart this week. Walk The Moon have been absent from my chart for a few months, but this week jumped in with their fourth track from Talking Is Hard. Avalanche debuts at #92 and at this point might be my favorite song from that album. Frank Turner's Mittens is the final new song at #98. Turner had two big hits from this album (#3 Get Better, #11 The Next Storm) followed by one miss (#58 Demons), and it remains to be seen which category this new song will fit into. Bubbling Under #1 moves to Acid Rain, a Robert DeLong track that should surrender the title in a week or so when it gets promoted to the main ranks. Recurrent #1 goes to a never charted-Gold track for the first time since Crosseyed and Painless in early June. Weezer's El Scorcho hits #1 due to my focus on the band as they came up in the Pulse Top 10s challenge. With only nine weeks left in the year, the Year-End Top 100 Countdown has sealed its doors to any new songs entering after this week. There are many spots left to be won, but none will come from new entries following this next week. They'll have to hope to hold on through the new year and post an impressive run to make the 2016 chart. Until then, I'm out. Trip Switch spends its third week at #1, and may have hit #1 at the most advantageous point for any song in the history of the chart. On the Alt Radio chart it was just picked as the On The Verge track for the month meaning it should enjoy a smooth coast into the Top 15. I've heard it on the radio twice now, but if that number starts to increase this song has a legitimate shot at breaking AWOLNATION's record for most weeks at #1. That's bad news for St. Louise Is Listening, which a few weeks ago had the highest chance of hitting #1 but now is destined to peak at #2 and should start dropping very soon. S.O.B. rises to #3, but might get stuck behind Nothing But Thieves' growing titan of a song. Lydia hits #4 in its 17th week on the chart, and has the best chance right now of any song in the Top 10 of unseating Trip Switch. Nightlight drops to #5 in its 8th week in the Top 10. Silversun Pickups should chart their second song next week once I decide on the single. FIDLAR's 40oz. On Repeat appears to be a victim of slowing down just a bit once it hit the Top 10, and should struggle to climb any higher as stronger songs surge below. Mountain At My Gates is hoping to avoid that same phenomenon, climbing one position to #7. The first new song in the Top 10 is an Alternative track from 2009 that I discovered through a Spotify recommendation. Percussion Gun has flown its way up the charts and should continue that form over the next few weeks. Footsteps spends its last week in the Top 10 at #9. Finally, a new track emerges in the Top 10 just in time for the Halloween chart week. Ghost's Cirice jumps seven positions and is a current darkhorse to take over the #1 spot in a month or so.
One of the current staples of my chart came out with their next lead single this week. While Mess Around was a bit underwhelming for Cage the Elephant's lofty standards, it has grown on me and still managed the top debut of #58 this week. I hope the rest of Tell Me I'm Pretty doesn't sound so Black Keys-influenced, but so far it's not a great sign. Robert DeLong charts another track with Acid Rain, which previously topped the Bubbling Under list last week. Portugal. The Man refuse to be off the chart for more than a few months, so even without a new album (which if anything this debut proves how desperate I am for one) Dawn slides into the #83 slot this week. Brand New's Mene enters at #89 after sitting on the chart's shortlist for months. The bottom 10 slots opened up to three debuts this week. First, The Neighborhood follow-up currently-peaking lead single R.I.P. To My Youth with The Beach at #93. Next, metal group Goatsnake offer Another River To Cross one slot down at #94 after 8 weeks Bubbling Under. I'm curious to see where that one ends up. Finally, James Bay charts his fourth song from The Chaos and The Calm, as Get Out While You Can enters at #97.
The Bubbling Under chart crowns Cardinals from The Wonder Years atop its ranks, though the song may struggle to burst on to the main chart right away. Recurrent #1 holds at El Scorcho for the second week, and ex-#1 The Wolf settles in at #4. With only eight charts remaining before the end of the year, 13 songs have clinched their places in the year-end countdown. Still a lot of time for that list to shift around before the ball drops. Trip Switch continues to ride on its high due to its choice as the On The Verge track for Alternative. It spends a fourth week at #1, is very likely to grab a fifth, and has a decent chance at tying AWOLNATION's 6-week record. Lydia might be the song that suffers most from this revelation, as it moves from #4 - #2 and stares ahead at the massive roadblock Nothing But Thieves have crafted. S.O.B. holds at #3 but with I Need Never Get Old moving up quickly, the current radio single may start to drop soon. St. Louise Is Listening finally falls two slots, releasing any chance of capturing a #1 week of its own. Foals earn their first Top 5 hit as Mountain In My Gates rises two positions. Nightlight drops out of the Top 5 for the first time in two months, though it does tally a 9th week in the Top 10. Percussion Gun starts to slow down in the tougher waters of the Top 10, moving up one position to #7. Its chances at #1 may also be hindered by Trip Switch's dominance. Cirice picks up where it left off last week from the Halloween bump and gains another two positions. 40oz. On Repeat slides three slots, the heavy competition of the chart's top tier finally causing FIDLAR to crack. I'm unsure if they'll chart a follow-up, I gave their album a listen but wasn't thrilled with any of the other cuts. Finally, the only new entry to the Top 10 comes from a familiar face to the group. It's That Talk Again gives Broken Bells their third Top 10 hit, putting the duo in a group with only nine other artists who have managed to match that feat. Top debut this week is a signpost for my shifting musical tastes as the chart's history rolls on. Parkway Drive's Vice Grip joins at #55, giving the track one of the highest debuts of the year. With no clean vocals (formerly a hard limitation on my enjoyment of a song), the movement/trend towards the heavy perhaps started by Seether and Starset last year and furthered by Beartooth a few months ago continues through this track. It has been in constant rotation this week and could fly to a Top 10 peak relatively quickly if the plays don't slow down. Next entry to the chart is a re-entry, as The Ghosts Of Beverly Drive rejoins well above its old peak at #68. The Death Cab track had a small three week run around the time it was announced as the second single from Kintsugi but fell off due to heavy competition. It becomes only the tenth track in the history of the chart to re-enter after falling off, and the second from Death Cab, continuing the trend that Black Sun established after it initially peaked at #70 but re-entered a few weeks later to eventually claim a #21 peak. Next up is a track that would be classified as Gold on nearly all other charts, Porcupine Tree's Strip The Soul at #71. The group had two cuts from In Absentia stake out impressive runs near the beginning of the year, and this third track seems ready to follow those up proudly. Silversun Pickups finally chart Latchkey Kids at #81 as their second single from the album after a few weeks of me deliberating over the choices. Not sure if radio will pick the same song, but hopefully. Pop Evil flopped with In Disarray on my chart, but second radio single Ways To Get High was quickly announced to help keep their strong run of songs on my chart, and in no way because Footsteps had already peaked on radio. A X Ambassadors/Imagine Dragons-sounding hybrid track that Bubbled Under a few months ago bypasses the BU re-entry and debuts at #87, as Tribe Society add Kings to the chart almanac. Big Data brings Get Some Freedom to the table at #93, likely the final track from 2.0 to make it to the main chart (though 7/10 songs isn't too bad ). Finally, Turbowolf chart Rabbits Foot at #98 after just one week Bubbling Under. This one should carry decent momentum into next week to try and escape the bottom rungs of the chart. Cardinals remains atop the Bubbling Under crowd, with a likely debut next week. Moving to the recurrent group, Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf) unseats Weezer to claim its first week at #1 on despite logging its seventh overall week on the chart. With several big songs set to drop off in the next few weeks AWOLNATION's run may not last long. Now with only seven weeks left in the year, a fifth of the Year End Top 100 slots have been locked in as 20 songs punch their tickets. That number should dwindle to only a few slots very quickly, so look out for the continued updates as 2015 draws to a close. The 8am exam went well despite posting this chart instead of dedicating more time to studying, so it's time to move on to the writeup. Trip Switch becomes only the 6th song in the history of the chart to hold the top spot for five weeks, and it shows no signs of slowing down as I continue to hear the song at least once a day on the radio. AWOLNATION's weeks at #1 record may be in jeopardy. Lydia is the song most damaged by this, as it spends its second week at #2 with diminishing hopes of capturing the top slot. S.O.B. holds at #3 for a third straight week and should start to drop soon as more songs from Nathaniel Rateliff make their way up the chart. Mountain At My Gates flips up one position to #4, continuing its run as Foals' best charting song. Ghost float their way to the Top 5 as Cirice makes a three spot improvement. St. Louise Is Listening slides out of the Top 5 with a two position drop, however can still rack up one of the longer Top 10 runs if it can hang in the bottom positions for a few more weeks. Percussion Gun holds at #7, not because its momentum has slowed but because the Top 10 is fiercely competitive this week. It should resume upward movement next chart. Nighlight suffers a similar fate, dropping two spots to #8 while still being on heavy Spotify rotation. This marks its 10th week in the Top 10, the 24th song to grab that milestone. It's That Talk Again surges forward one position as Broken Bells look to try and log their third Top 5 hit. Finally, The Struts enter the Top 10 with Kiss This, following up Could Have Been Me (#16), which peaked a few months ago. The track was just picked as a radio single, so maybe it can enjoy some of the momentum Nothing But Thieves have used to build their impressive run at the top. Though I still have yet to listen to Ghost's new album, I did give another track a first listen in an effort to pick a second single once Cirice starts to drop. From The Pinnacle To The Pit was so immediate that it earned the Hot Shot Debut at #67. Their album has now risen to the top of my "albums to listen to list" and I'll get around to that very shortly. Coldplay's new lead single Adventure Of A Lifetime marks off a #74 debut after one week Bubbling Under. I wasn't sold on the track immediately, however now that I've heard it more on my own time and on the radio its catchiness has overwhelmed any previous doubts I had. Cold War Kids chart their fourth track from Hold My Home, as Hotel Anywhere joins at #81. I really enjoyed the album when I gave it a listen, and I might have to explore the band a bit more outside of the radio singles from past albums. Ratatat chart Cream On Chrome at #88, which was pulled out of the depths of one of my playlists and given a chance at a run this week. Though instrumental, that hasn't stopped songs from doing well on the chart. (Martin Garrix's grabbed two Top 10s in the early days of the chart). The Wonder Years chart their second song in Cardinals at #91. CHVRCHES hope to follow-up a somewhat disappointing run from Leave A Trace (#76) with a better showing from Never Ending Circles. I'm unsure if that will end up happening, but the song joins at #98 with some decent momentum for next week. Finally, The Front Bottoms enter with HELP at #98 after a five week stint on the Bubbling Under chart. Bubbling Under at the top is Bloodfeather from Highly Suspect, which should probably enter next week with a high debut. Hollow Moon locks down the recurrent peak for a second week with few challengers from the new entries. The chart only has six weeks remaining, and as of this chart 23/100 songs have clinched positions in the 2015 Year-End Countdown. As the cutoff for entry rises each week, that number should start to really grow in the next few weeks. Trip Switch becomes only the second song in chart history to spend six weeks at the top, and is the first to hold the crown for six weeks consecutively. It spends its 14th week in the Top 10, approaching the 17 week record held by AWOLNATION and Big Data. For the first time since it hit the top of the chart, its position may be under some threat. Lydia holds for a third week at #2, and has a slight chance at unseating the chart kings to grab the longest climb to #1 in history record. Highly Suspect's chances may be eventually thwarted by the #3 track, as Cirice moves up two positions and continues to gain more momentum as it nears the chart's peak. Finally got around to checking out Ghost's album; it was a fantastic record and may provide a needed boost for their single to overcome Nothing But Thieves. Mountain At My Gates sticks at #4 and has likely peaked. There should be a few more Foals singles from their latest album over the next few months. S.O.B. drops two spots to #5, and should exit the Top 10 in a few weeks. Percussion Gun has really slowed down once hitting the Top 10 despite its rapid run up to the elite group. It manages to grab another spot to #6 and remains bulleted but hopes of a #1 peak are likely dashed. It's That Talk Again rises two positions and should give Broken Bells their third Top 5 as early as next week. Kiss This moves up two positions as it begins its run on the rock radio formats. If I start hearing it on the radio it should help give longevity to the song's run. Here is the new entry to the Top 10 this week. Pop R&B isn't really my genre of choice but the lyrics and general catchiness of this song won me over a few months ago. Not sure where Alessia will eventually peak. Finally, Nightlight spends its probable final week in the Top 10 and 11th overall in that group as it slides to #10.
Foo Fighters dropped a solid 5-track EP out of nowhere this week. Enjoyed all of the tracks, but I picked The Neverending Sigh for the Hot Shot Debut at #62 this week. Expect most of the other tracks to chart and extend the Foos current run of success on my chart. EL VY's Return To The Moon (plus a bunch of words in parenthesis) debuts at #76; probably should have made it in last week but the high debut gives it a better chance at a long run. The Arcs attempt to push past the failed run of Chains of Love with Stay In My Corner at #79, hoping to make it somewhere closer to Outta My Mind's Top 10 run. AWOLNATION chart yet another song from Run with KOOKSEVERYWHERE!!! at #86, though with I Am still earning heavy radio play and Woman Woman seemingly set to be the third single, it may have a bit to wait before its turn in the sun. One spot down is Cheerleader's Sunshine Of Your Youth at #87. Not sure what brought this track back to my attention but I was using it as a pallet cleanser after listening to the horrid new Neighbourhood album. Magnets joins at #91, time will tell if Disclosure can push a Lorde track above her highest peak of #81 on the chart. Haven't heard it too much on the radio so burnout hasn't ruined its chances yet. Finally, Cymbals Eat Guitars log Magnets at #99 after a short Bubbling Under run.
Bloodfeather holds the Bubbling Under slot hostage for a second week, though it should debut very soon. Hollow Moon locks down the recurrent chart for the third time in a row. With only five charts left in the year, now 31 songs have clinched positions in the year-end countdown. Just the hurdle of finals week to get over and then the chart should breeze through the rest of 2015 with ease. The decision for #1 this week was one of the hardest in chart history, as so many milestones hung in the balance. Ghost soars past Nothing But Thieves with Cirice to claim the chart's 36th #1. Listening to their fantastic album coupled with the heavy rotation in the past week brought the single past Trip Switch, which recedes to #2 and misses out on taking the weeks at #1 record solo. Nothing But Thieves can still bask in the light of one of the top hits of the year, and set their sights on a new record, Weeks in The Top 10. Trip Switch spends its 15th week in the Top 10 this week, a mere two weeks away from tying the mark. Lydia falls to #3 despite having a decent shot at grabbing #1 this week. Highly Suspect would have annihilated the longest climb to #1 record by over a month, but alas that door has now closed. Broken Bells burst into the Top 5 with It's That Talk Again, a song that could be a candidate for #1 soon. Percussion Gun continues its slow and steady rise through the top ranks, moving to #5 this week. Kiss This is close behind, moving to #6 on the chart the week I first heard it on the radio. Mountain At My Gates slips down the mountain three positions to #7, and now clears the way for another potential Foals hit. Here moves up one slot to #8 in its second week in the Top 10. I've been hearing it all the time on the radio now so that should help its short term position. S.O.B. drops to #9, again reminding me that I need to check out Nathaniel Rateliff's album to look for new potential hits. Finally, Muse's Reapers squeaks into the Top 10 with stunted momentum. Forum rumblings suggest it might be the next single, and that certainly won't damage its future peak.
This week was a strong week for the debut class, and I wouldn't be surprised if one of these hits #1 some point in the future. First up is the Hot Shot Debut, Cage the Elephant's Trouble. Despite being more laid back, this track is more immediate and in line with the traditional CtE sound compared to Mess Around. Hope it becomes a single eventually (unless other songs from the album are way better). Next is Sweet Emotion from The Kooks at #67. Sadly I avoided this track because I thought it was an Aerosmith cover. It's not, (for those still curious) and should be a very solid followup to Bad Habit(#7) and Forgive & Forget(#11). Highly Suspect log their third track from Mister Asylum with Bloodfeather at #76. These guys should have a phenomenal run of tracks through the beginning of 2016, so stay tuned. Queens Of The Stone Age chart their 8th(!) song from ...Like Clockwork with The Vampyre Of Time And Memory. No huge surprise as the album is phenomenal, but can all 10 tracks chart? Atlas Genius offer Stockholm at #84 while A Perfect End decides if it wants to peak in the 30s or not. A fresh track from AudioDamn! (don't dig the name but dig the track) joins with Radar at #87. I'm curious to see what this will do on Alternative (if anything), since it's quite poppy for the format. Colours' Monster debuts at #94 with room to grow in future weeks. Finally, Refused clear the Bubbling Under checkpoint and add New Noise at #98. The group previously sent Francafrique to #40 a few months ago.
Bubbling Under #1 shifts to True Dreams Of Wichita from Soul Coughing as Highly Suspect departs for greener pastures. The Recurrent chart battle is won by Clean, ex-#1 on the main chart from Big Data and Jamie Lidell after 15 long weeks on that chart without grabbing the crown. It's an odd run, with the rebound sparked by the release of the official music video a few weeks ago. I've said this more than a couple times, but their label is crazy to not send this track as an Alternative single. Finally with only four charts left in the year it's time for the year-end update. 41/100 tracks now have confirmed places in the 2015 Top 100, and the cutoff line continues to rise at a breakneck pace. Ghost floats around at #1 with Cirice for a second week, and has a decent chance at hanging on for a third. Trip Switch sticks at #2, spending its 16th consecutive week in the Top 10. This ties Beck's Dreams for 3rd all-time, and the Nothing But Thieves single is only one week away from tying the all-time record, currently held by Dangerous and Hollow Moon. At this point, it isn't a question of if the song will take the record, but how far. Is 20 weeks possible? Probablydepends how much I hear it on the radio in the next few weeks. Meanwhile, It's That Talk Again quietly moves to #3 with a shot at the chart's top position next week. Percussion Gun manages to hit a new peak of #4, however it has lost some momentum in past weeks and may be descending soon in a very competitive Top 10. Lydia drops to #5, gearing up for a long run down the chart and maybe a chance at ending up among the longest runs in chart history. Here jumps up two positions, as Alessia Cara's surprise chart hit builds on its past success. Kiss This falls a spot to #7, not due to its own incompetence but instead to other, faster moving tracks. It might be able to recover and hit the Top 5, but it will be a challenge. First new face in the Top 10 is Wake Up Call from Nothing But Thieves. The group's second chart single is part of the reason Trip Switch finally cracked at the top, but it could grab another #1 for the band if it keeps up the momentum. Mountain At My Gates slides to #9 after an impressive run. Finally, AWOLNATION's Woman Woman grabs the #10 slot after 17 long weeks of climbing up the chart. That climb into the Top 10 is T-3rd longest in chart history. It also becomes the first song to hit the Top 10 after spending over 10 weeks on the Bubbling Under chart (it spent 11). The song was about to start its descent until being announced as the third radio single from Run, giving it the much needed boost into the Top 10.
Also a statistic I missed from a few weeks ago: 100 unique artists have now logged songs in the Top 10 (Muse's now departed Reapers was the track to take it over the edge). It's an impressive milestone as the chart nears its second year running. Another interesting record chase lies in the middle of the chart. Foals' What Went Down spends its 25th week on the chart despite its #19 peak. It's currently the 6th-longest charting song without Top 10 pedigree and could challenge Congregation's record soon.
Nothing But Thieves continue their unprecedented run of chart dominance by grabbing the Hot Shot Debut this week. Itch joins at #46, the 4th highest debut for any song in 2015 and 14th all-time. To say I'm eagerly awaiting their self-titled album in February would be grossly underselling my feelings about the project. I initially dismissed Shinedown's second single State Of My Head for being too poppy, but it finally grew on me this week and earns a strong debut at #73 after 7 weeks Bubbling Under. Doubt it will match Cut The Cord's #4 peak but it should get a strong run. Canadian group Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker chart Yin Yang at #76. I gave the song another listen after it re-entered the Mediabase Alternative chart; not sure why I didn't chart it months ago. A track I hope goes for radio adds at some point is in at #81, Run River North's Run Or Hide. It's a passionate and catchy track that I could see doing quite well in today's Alt climate. Nothing But Thieves may have overshadowed other artists with great success recently, but Soul Coughing are still chugging along. True Dreams Of Wichita enters at #90 as most of the other (4!) SC tracks are starting to drop, so it should have a relatively painless trip upwards. Slipknot draft Sarcastrophe at #96, which may be entering partially due to its great name. Finally, OK Go chart Another Set Of Issues at #98. This group are the kings of charting a ridiculous amount of low-peaking tracks. Out of their six other entries to the main chart, only one (Get Over It, #12) has peaked above #88. Hopefully this track can break that odd trend.
Wolf Alice replaces Soul Coughing atop the Bubbling Under chart with You're A Germ. Still not sure if it will make the full jump to main chart status or not. Let It Happen finally drops off of the main chart and immediately occupies the top recurrent chart. I sadly didn't say much about its historic run over the past few weeks, but the Tame Impala single finished with 38 weeks on the chart, tying Dangerous and only one week behind all-time record holder Carnivore. Unsteady also falls off the chart after 32 weeks, now holding the 9th longest run of all time. This leaves Black Me Out as the currently charting song with the longest run, at 32 weeks. That's T-7th all time, and the song should be able to squeeze out another week or two. In other Recurrent chart news, Little Monster spends its 31st week on that chart, only one behind the record of 32 by the Arctic Monkeys' R U Mine? Royal Blood should surpass that mark quite easily. Finally, with only three more charts left in the year, 53 songs have now earned spots in the Top 100 Year-End Countdown! I went a little overboard this week (four paragraphs!?!), but at least it's better than studying for finals. Broken Bells grab the chart's highest honors with It's That Talk Again, their second #1 in chart history (following After the Disco in April 2014). Broken Bells become the 6th artist to have two #1 hits to their name, tying many other chart titans. Cirice drops to #2 after two weeks at the top, a short run compared to the two #1 hits that came before. Ghost won't have to wait too long for another single to compete at the top, as From The Pinnacle To The Pit continues its rise. Trip Switch slides to #3 but ties the record for most weeks in the Top 10, marking its 17th week in the top group. The record will easily be broken next week, but how far can Nothing But Thieves take it? Wake Up Call makes the largest jump within the Top 10 and appears at #4 this week. Here rises one position to give Alessia Cara an impressive Top 5 hit. Lydia falls to #6 in its 23rd week on the chart, and now should shift its focus to lasting as long as possible on its descent. Percussion Gun takes a hit down to #7; the song was very quick out of the gate but hit a wall of top contenders, preventing it from summiting the chart. Woman Woman moves to #8 with its newfound momentum, though Top 5 status still seems unlikely. Kiss This drops to #9 after a satisfying peak. Finally, Parkway Drive's Vice Grip moves up four positions to earn a place in the Top 10. As recently as a year ago I wouldn't have given this song any consideration but the powerful riffs and energizing vocals have won me over.
HSD honors go to Grizfolk with Troublemaker at #67, a song I had been meaning to listen to a while back after catching some snippets of it over the past few weeks but finally got around to it this week. J. Cole's latest radio single No Role Modelz enters at #74. It's the third track from 2014 Forest Hills Drive to chart, and already has the highest peak of any of them. High Dive from Andrew McMahon and the Wilderness is next at #78. It's quite impressive this track managed to chart at all, considering that my local Alt station (WRFF) has played Cecelia and the Satellite so much that the track is a burnt out, mangled corpse of its former self. Blur enter with Lonesome Street at #82 after four weeks Bubbling Under. The British group previously sent two tracks up the chart (Go Out [#52], I Broadcast [#59]) and this should peak somewhere in their range. A track from the current best of 2015 tournament on the rock board is in next at #87, with Superheaven's I've Been Bored. Enjoyed the grunge feel of the track. Imagine Dragons released the Deluxe Edition of their album recently, and one of the added tracks is likely the last to chart from the project, as Thief enters at #89. Ben Howard charts Oats In The Water after a Bubbling Under stint, and finally Alabama Shakes continue to chart more from Sound & Color with Miss You at #97. Both tracks have to continue to build momentum if they want to hang around for long chart runs.
Wolf Alice holds the Bubbling Under top spot with You're A Germ, which is more likely to not chart then to make the jump at this point. Recurrent #1 holds with Tame Impala's Let It Happen with no big challengers dropping off the chart this week. 64 songs have now clinched spots in the Year-End Top 100 chart, and many more are very close to earning their tickets. It's That Talk Again holds on to the top slot in the second-to-last chart of 2015. Cirice sits behind, stable at #2 but with no threat to the leader. Wake Up Call is the first song to make a positive move, as Nothing But Thieves grab their second Top 3 hit. Trip Switch drops to #4, but in the process shatters one of the chart's most prestigious records. The massive hit spends its 18th week in the Top 10, besting Dangerous and Hollow Moon to grab the record solo. The track is still in the top 5, meaning 20 weeks doesn't seem all that unlikely. Stay tuned. Rounding out the Top 5 is Here, which might end up peaking here with heavy competition below. Vice Grip posts an impressive jump of four positions; now residing in the 6th place slot. Lydia falls to 7th but is posting an impressive Top 10 run of its own. The track becomes the 25th in chart history to spend 10 weeks or more in the Top 10. From The Pinnacle To The Pit jumps into the Top 10 in its 6th week in the chart. This means that 40% of the Top 10 is currently held hostage by two artists. Will the newcomer and Wake Up Call fight to see which artist can grab their second Top 10 first? Not sure yet. Woman Woman recedes to #9 and might finally start to fall soon. Finally, re-entering the Top 10 after two weeks absent is Reapers, which I heard on the radio for the first time this week and which sounds glorious there. Ghost continues to overshadow most other artists on the chart, and gets another Hot Shot Debut with Majesty at #66. Expect at least three more tracks from Meliora to have runs of their own before too much longer. Cage the Elephant dropped Tell Me I'm Pretty this week, and after a first listen Portugese Knife Fight stuck out as a highlight and grabbed a #71 debut. I'm still not sure if Mess Around is going to recover from its current stagnation or not, as the track has yet to fully grow on me from its release. Wolf Alice chart You're A Germ at #78 after eight long weeks Bubbling Under. The debut comes just as Bros begins its downward tumble. A song I discovered from the recent best of 2015 rock board tournament debuts next at #85. Adrenaline from Matt Nathanson earns a solid starting position to begin its climb. The Districts pencil in 4th and Roebling at #89 after a short week on the BU chart. Best Coast also benefit from the tournament, charting Feeling Ok at #91. Swim Season finishes off the tournament tracks with Soldiers at #93. All of those tracks have a bit of an uphill battle to receive high peaks, but they currently have momentum on their side. The last debut is Reason Is Treason from Kasabian, uncovered when I went on a dig through their discography a few weeks ago. Bubbling Under #1 shifts to Until The World Goes Cold, a Trivium track that might not make the jump to the main chart (though I've said that about the last few BU#1's and they made the jump). Recurrent #1 holds with Let It Happen; no major movement at the top of that chart. With only one week left in the year, 81 songs have now mathematically clinched their spots, but realistically 98 have confirmed their entry. I'm back really early this week to end off the year in style! Back when I first started this chart in early February 2014, I looked ahead in the calendar and planned it perfectly so that the last chart of 2015 would also be the 100th overall chart. (not really but it's kind of awesome it worked out that way). So I've managed to keep up this chart for 100 straight weeks without missing any and decided it was time for a fresh look. I'd kicked around the idea of including the screen capture of my excel file instead of making a table for the past few months, and finally decided to go through with it to celebrate the 100th chart! Some new benefits include getting to see the full 25-song Bubbling Under and Recurrent charts, as well as me saving a bunch of time making this post. Thanks to everyone who has followed and commented along the way. Tomorrow I'll post the Top 50 songs of the 4th quarter of the year, and starting January 1st I'll begin the Year-End festivities in this thread!
Broken Bells close out the year with their third week at #1. It's That Talk Again holds off a rising challenge from Nothing But Thieves, as Wake Up Call slides up one position to #2. Cirice falls to #3 but still has an impressive top 10 life ahead. The track has spent 9 weeks in the top group and likely has several more to add to the total. Vice Grip makes the first multi-position move within the top 10, jumping up two slots. From The Pinnacle To The Pit gives Ghost their second Top 5 hit in as many tries. The track has a lot of momentum behind it and could make a push for the top soon. Trip Switch spends its record-breaking 19th week in the Top 10 with a two position drop to #6. 20 weeks seems inevitable next week. Here finally cracks under the pressure of an incredibly strong chart and falls two positions. Reapers continues its rise in its second chance at Top 10 glory, moving to #8. Lydia regresses to #9 in its 25th week on the chart, and is likely looking forward to competing for all-time longevity records in a few months. Finally, the only new entry to the Top 10 this week has one of the oddest runs in chart history. The Neighbourhood's R.I.P. 2 My Youth bursts onto the scene with a ten position jump. The song is in its 18th week on the chart, which marks the T-2nd longest run to the Top 10 in chart history. The reason for the slow rise? The track was ready to fall off the chart a few months ago and had begun its drop. I then listened to Wiped Out! and wasn't a fan at all. Without any good tracks to followup the great lead single, it bounced back in popularity since it was the only contender. How high can it get? Not sure yet, but #1 isn't out of the question.
Tame Impala's album is filled with plenty of fantastic tracks, and this week's Hot Shot Debut is no exception. Eventually is in at #63 with room to grow in future weeks. Next is the third track to chart from Mac Miller's recent project GO:OD AM. Perfect Circle/God Speed is an extended and personal track that despite its length never gets boring. Debuting at #73 it should at least match the Top 15 peaks of its predecessors. Portugal. The Man return with All My People from American Ghetto. The track had been on heavy rotation over the past few weeks and was still eligible so earned a slot at #78. Red Sun Rising come in at #81 with Emotionless. The track is their attempt at sounding exactly like Tool which doesn't match the source material but isn't bad. It should firmly outpeak The Otherside. Nathaniel Rateliff & The Nightsweats chart a third track as the first two begin to fall. Look It Here is (I believe) the second radio single from their album and should perform well on my chart. Interpol return from the dead with Everything Is Wrong at #88. The band last charted with All The Rage Back Home(#13) back in Fall 2014 and this cut from the same album has a chance at replicating that success. A Dr.Indie track from the recent tournament is in next at #93. The New Division's Gemini joins with decent momentum. Finally Frank Turner charts Josephine at #98. He has struggled to bring a track out off the bottom positions since The Next Storm, so maybe this entry can break that unfortunate trend.
Until The World Goes Cold holds at #1 Bubbling Under. All of the Bubbling Under tracks are in a great position to debut next week as they won't lose any points for the 2016 Year-End chart they would have lost if they debuted this week. Black Me Out drops off after 34 long weeks, and immediately grabs the Recurrent throne. Now that the 2015 chart year is finalized, all 100 songs are locked in. Look for the YEC megapost to appear in the next few days!

Loving the success of "RIP 2 My Youth", "Adventure Of A Lifetime", "Mountain At My Gates", "Love Me", "Trouble", "Woman Woman", and "Here", among others. I also adore your new format and can't wait for your year end! Also, congrats on 100 weeks! It's definitely a cool milestone to hit and it's even cooler that it happened at the tail end of the year. :)

To continue the December celebrations, here's the Top 50 songs over the final quarter of the year! Trip Switch clearly dominated the field but there was intense competition in the positions below. I'll be back in a few days with the Year-End megapost!

|2014|-Webinator's Top 100-|2016|2015 Year-End Charts! It's officially 2016, so it's time to kick off the second annual celebration for my chart, and the first that covers an entire year! So this is going to go in pretty much the same way as last year, where I'll announce the Top 25 artists of the year in bunches of 5, and the Top 100 songs in bunches of 10 (until I get to the Top 10 songs then I'll stretch it a bit). Giving a few shoutouts this year to Zeebz surfy maine Juan Carlos H. Daryl the Beryl Butterflies & Hurricanes and anyone else who checked out the chart throughout the year and left their feedback.
I'll have the first 5 artists up sometime today, then expect an update each day until we reach the end. Thanks for your support this year, and I hope everyone has a great 2016!

Top Artists of 2015 (#25 - 21)2015 YEC Mega-Post (link)As a quick preface to this countdown, I was expecting a bunch of familiar faces to comfortably slide into their positions on this chart, but once all of the calculations had completed only five artists that made the Top 25 last year made this list. That was a happy surprise since it hopefully shows that I'm continuing to expand my musical boundaries. Anyway, let's get started.
25. Until The Ribbon BreaksCharting Songs: 3 Biggest Hit: A Taste of Silver [PK: 2 WC: 31]Not exactly sure where I first heard A Taste Of Silver right at the beginning of the year, but it was love at first listen. I'll get around to trumpeting that song's praises deep into the song countdown, but this group's debut album A Lesson Unlearnt got some heavy action in the beginning of the year with its smooth vibes and catchy hooks. Only three songs from the project charted but several more made valliant efforts in the Bubbling Under depths. 24. FoalsCharting Songs: 3 Biggest Hit: Mountain At My Gates [PK: 4 WC: 22*]Foals broke their silence this year by dropping their new album What Went Down. Both of the first two pre-released singles What Went Down and Mountain At My Gates were instant hits on the chart and had impressive longevity through their runs. The band promised that the album was among their heaviest in interviews leading up to the release, and while I don't necessarily completely agree with that analysis it was a solid album start to finish. Expect a few more tracks from the project to enter in the beginning of 2016 that may give the group enough momentum to make it on this list in 52 weeks. 23. SlipknotCharting Songs: 4 Biggest Hit: The Devil In I [PK: 6 WC: 28]There are a bunch of artists on this chart that I never anticipated to make the list. Slipknot was completely off the radar for me until December 2014 when I first heard The Devil In I due to its high peak on the Active charts. It took a month or so to grow on me but once it did it flew up the chart, prompting entries from the band's tracks new and old like Killpop, Duality, and most recently Sarcastrophe. Artists like this making my Top 25 make me wonder where my tastes will go in 2016 (this year they definitely took a heavier turn). Not sure if we'll be seeing anything on the chart in 2016 from these guys unless they come out with new material, but they made the most of what they charted. 22. James Bay Charting Songs: 4 Biggest Hit: Hold Back The River [PK: 3 WC: 27]It's really a shame that James Bay hasn't managed to break out into huge US success, I would have thought with songs like Riptide and Budapest getting decent Pop airplay that Hold Back The River would have managed to do something on Pop radio. The Chaos and the Calm is a good debut album which has brought him some nice UK success but I still feel like he has another level to break through in order to grab ultimate success in the states. Bay stood out to me among the folky singer-songwriter types this year because of the grit and passion in his voice, best represented in his biggest hit as well as tracks like Collide. Let It Go was a good showcase of his softer side but I still question if it was the best choice for a second rock single. Hopefully he only continues to grow in popularity next year. 21. The Prodigy Charting Songs: 5 Biggest Hit: The Day Is My Enemy [PK: 10 WC: 19]Fun fact: these guys hold the untied record for the all-time worst performing song on my chart (Out Of Space spent the first ever chart week at #100 and then dropped off), but this year they proved to be one of the chart titans. With a new album in The Day Is My Enemy, the UK trio offered some bangers in Nasty, Wild Frontier, and the title track which proved to be staples on my workout playlists this year. Songs like Invaders Must Die and Stand Up (also found out Dave Grohl drums on that song) represented their past projects well. They still haven't had a massive hit on my chart and their song runs tend to move up fast and burn quickly, but so far their releases have yet to disappoint.

I'll be back in a few days with the Year-End megapost! "Percussion Gun" by White Rabbits, 7th for 2015 Q4? - that's a band i wasn't expecting to see on your list - i haven't heard anything new by them since 2009... what prompted you to reach for this song lately? oh, i see you've been charting this as a new song, along with a bunch of Soul Coughing - great band! by the way, i can't believe i've never made it over here to this thread before (i hardly ever leave the Rock section) but glad i finally made it because your charts are full of awesome songs & love the way you display everything too...keep up the good work :)

I don't have any limits on which songs can chart, it doesn't matter if the track is a single or not or how old it is as long as it's new to me (using my last.fm for reference). I hadn't heard Percussion Gun back during its '09 run (probably has something to do with not paying attention to the charts back then), so I really got into it when I discovered it over the fall. Love the drums in the song and it's incredibly catchy so it was an unquestioned hit from the start. Still have yet to explore their discography but that's on my to-do list, I'll have to see if something will chart from them in the future.

Top Artists of 2015 (#20 - 16)2015 YEC Mega-Post (link)
20. Catfish and the BottlemenCharting Songs: 5 Biggest Hit: Kathleen [PK: 1 WC: 28]Emerging at the end of last year with their catchy, garage-y single Kathleen, this British group released The Balcony in the beginning of the year which gave them great success throughout the first half of the year. While their lead single failed to crack the Top 10 on Alternative and follow-up singles also didn't realize their true peaks, tracks like Cocoon and Pacifier found success on my chart. Injecting some classic Alternative Rock towards the top of the radio charts where it was lacking at points during the past few years was greatly appreciated by several of the rock regulars. Not sure if they'll be back with anything from The Balcony in 2016, but if they come out with new material I'll be sure to give it a quick listen. 19. Cold War KidsCharting Songs: 5 Biggest Hit: First [PK: 11 WC: 23]Cold War Kids finally got the year of their respective careers. First dominated the Alternative chart at the end of the year, giving them their first massive hit on the format 10 years after their first hit. Really happy to see their success on radio after so long; meanwhile on my chart they were quite consistent throughout the year. All This Could Be Yours led off the year with a respectable #15 peak, while tracks like Hot Coals and Thunderhearts followed-up First's success. There are still a few more tracks from the impressive Hold My Home left to chart next year once Hotel Anywhere bows out, so there's a chance that CWK could slide into on of the T25 artists slots this time next year. I wish them good luck with continued success and that whatever song they pick to send to radio next won't get buried with First's recurrent airplay. 18. ToolCharting Songs: 4 Biggest Hit: Schism [PK: 5 WC: 23]Here's the first artist on the list that hasn't released any new material in quite a while. I had of course heard of Tool prior to 2015, but it took my first viewing of the bizarre Schism video for me to really get into the band. A listen of Lateralus quickly followed, which helped me understand why the group is so beloved by its fervent supporters. Sober and Lateralus had impressive runs, and The Grudge fared decently towards the end of the year. Not sure if they'll be making any huge dents in 2016 (Red Sun Rising's Emotionless doesn't count) but I've found an all-time favorite track from this group. 17. Kasabian Charting Songs: 6 Biggest Hit: bow [PK: 5 WC: 21]While this group managed to snag a few early charting tracks in 2014 from their older projects, 2015 was the true emergence of Kasabian as a threat to my chart's top positions. eez-eh's (regrettably low) peak paved the way for tracks like bow and bumblebeee to reach Top 10 heights. While some categorize their music as generic and repetitive, I think that the charm and character that they bring through vocals and instrumentals is what makes their songs so infectious. While tracks from 48:13 made up most of this year's offerings, as 2015 neared the Fall I dug back through their past albums, bringing old hits such as Reason Is Treason and Processed Beats to the chart. Expect that trend to continue through the next year as I discover more of their past. 16. Against Me! Charting Songs: 3 Biggest Hit: Black Me Out [PK: 1 WC: 34]Another new discovery this year came with Against Me!. A year or so back I tried to get into their earlier material but wasn't completely convinced. Once the passionate, furious Black Me Out got its first few spins, I was an immediate convert. Listening to Transgender Dysphoria Blues and New Wave provided charting real estate for Thrash Unreal and Transgender Dysphoria Blues, and with my discovery of the band in the rear-view mirror, I may give another listen to their earlier material. Laura Jane Grace's vocals punch through the driving instrumentals and give every track unmatched emotion. Expect much more for this group on my chart next year.

It's time for a new year of the chart, and with it comes a new #1. Ghost soar to their second #1 in chart history (and in the last few months) as From The Pinnacle To The Pit rises from #5 to the top slot. Meliora was one of my favorite albums of 2015, so it's not too far-fetched to say that Ghost might be the first artist to grab 3 #1 hits. It's That Talk Again drops to #2 after three successful weeks at the top. It appears in the battle between Nothing But Thieves and Ghost for who would have the more dominant follow-up, Wake Up Call has fallen just short of expectations. The track moves down to #3, which is partially a product of Itch flying up from below. Parkway Drive hold a Vice Grip on the #4 position this week, but could sneak up a position next chart. Cirice drops down to #5 and should be outside the Top 5 next week for the first time since mid-November. R.I.P. 2 My Youth continues its impressive run by moving up four spots. #1 isn't completely out of the question, but it would be an unprecedented climb to the top. Reapers moves to #7, cementing its position as Muse's biggest hit on my chart. Trip Switch falls two spots to #8, but reaches an impressive new milestone becoming the first song in chart history to reach 20 weeks in the Top 10, now three weeks ahead of the songs tied for second. Two new entries to the Top 10 round out the top group. The 1975 enter with Love Me moving up four positions to #9. Never thought I'd get into this band after trying most of their last album but I'm curious to check out their new project. Mac Miller earns his first ever Top 10 hit with Brand Name. GO:OD AM was an impressive step up for the Pittsburgh rapper and contains most of my favorite songs of his. Expect several more tracks from the album to challenge for similarly high peaks. Weezer dropped a pair of tracks a few months ago unattached to any upcoming project, and I enjoyed both of them. It's now time for the second track, Do You Wanna Get High? to enter at #71, earning Hot Shot honors. The single draws heavy influence from the Pinkerton-era sound and should probably outpeak its predecessor, Thank God For Girls. The Chemical Brothers drop Go off the chart this week but immediately replace it with Wide Open featuring Beck. I've added Born In The Echoes to my shortlist for albums to listen to soon, and if other tracks match the quality of these two they should get a chance to chart. Walk The Moon have quietly had a great charting history from Talking Is Hard, with their fifth cut from the album in Portugal entering at #84. Robert DeLong logs Posessed at #86, hoping to start his 2016 charting history off with a big peak. City and Colour chart Wasted Love at #93, one of the final songs from the recent best of 2015 tournament that should chart. Chris Stapleton charts Nobody To Blame at #97 in a rare country song entering my chart. I really like the instrumental and the passion in his vocals, so this could surprise some people (including me). Finally, Run The Jewels enter with Close Your Eyes (And Count To F*ck) at #99. I've been interested in this group for a while especially with the hype they've been getting and I look forward to digging deeper in their discography in future weeks. This paragraph should be a lot shorter considering the YEC is in full-swing. Benjamin Booker replaces Trivium atop the Bubbling Under chart with Wicked Waters. Against Me! hold on to the Recurrent #1 slot with Black Me Out for a second week. Also Mountain At My Gates breaks one of the chart's more obscure records, spending its 29th week on the chart without peaking in the Top 10. That beats Congregation from the Foos, but 30 weeks might be out of reach as the song sits in the bottom few places. That's it for this week, thanks for all of your comments on my year-end countdown, that will resume tomorrow.

Top Artists of 2015 (#15 - 11)2015 YEC Mega-Post (link) 15. Frank TurnerCharting Songs: 8 Biggest Hit: Get Better [PK: 3 WC: 22]Turner emerged from obscurity on my chart last year and used that platform to become one of the chart mainstays this year. Releasing Positive Songs For Negative People this year didn't hurt his charting prospects either. Get Better was the buzz single but ended up being my favorite from the album, while The Next Storm also had great success. Turner has an endearing and passionate quality to his lyrics and music that really set him apart from his contemporaries. Turner logged eight different songs on the chart this year, which was only one behind the most by an artist (we'll get to that later). There are still a few tracks from his recent album that are likely to chart (and tracks like Josephine are currently charting), so expect him to continue to have some presence into 2016. 14. Wolf AliceCharting Songs: 4 Biggest Hit: Moaning Lisa Smile [PK: 1(3w) WC: 29]Wolf Alice came out of nowhere to release one of the best albums of 2015 in My Love Is Cool, with the driving, grunge-flavored Moaning Lisa Smile exploding onto my chart as the lead single. The band's ability to transform their songs into a bunch of different 90's-Alternative themed styles kept their sound fresh throughout the year. Tracks like Bros and Giant Peach had solid runs but the lead track remains far and away their largest hit (so far). While they've struggled a bit on radio since their first attempt, I sincerely hope that they continue gain recognition and come back with a new project that can showcase more of their evolving style. If you were a fan of anything rock from the 90s, there's something on this project you'll enjoy. 13. Soul Coughing(Last Year: #14) Charting Songs: 7Biggest Hit: St. Louise Is Listening [PK: 2 WC: 19*]The first of five artists making a repeat performance on the Top 25, Soul Coughing dominated the end of last year with a flurry of tracks, moving up one position from 14th last year. This year, third third and final album El Oso's release on Spotify prompted another explosion of activity from Mike Doughty and his crew. St. Louise Is Listening just barely missed #1 this year (caught behind Trip Switch), but is still making waves as it moves down the chart. With many songs flying up and competing with each other ( Down To This, White Girl, Circles)throughout the year, some may have peaked a bit earlier than anticipated. There's still much more to come from the group next year, and I can say without a doubt that they have a reserved seat in my all-time Top 10 bands list. 12. Royal Blood (Last Year: #12)Charting Songs: 6Biggest Hit: Blood Hands [PK: 17 WC: 20]Royal Blood picked up where they left off last year, managing to hit the same position as last year. The duo managed to chart 8/10 tracks from their self-titled debut at the end of the day, adding in Little Monster B-Side Hole to put their all-time tally at 9 tracks. With no massive standout hit this year they enjoyed decent success, sending one track at a time up into the 20s before another replaced it. Ten Tonne Skeleton and Blood Hands were among the best tracks of the year, and the old smash hits earned heavy recurrent play in the past. Unless this group comes out with new material next year, I think their heir apparent may be Highly Suspect, which occupy most of the same soundspace with some rougher edges. It looks like they aren't going for a fourth single on radio, but it's a shame considering Little Monster gave them their first #1. 11. Alabama Shakes Charting Songs: 5 Biggest Hit: Don't Wanna Fight [PK: 1 WC: 32]I admit I didn't really "get" Alabama Shakes prior to this year. I tried Hold On, I tried a few tracks from their debut album but nothing really clicked. That philosophy was completely turned on its head as soon as I heard Don't Wanna Fight for the first time. The steady riff in the background combined with Brittany Howard's impeccable vocals create the landscape for a supremely catchy radio smash. It became one of the biggest hits of the year and managed to last over 30 weeks, a rare feat for most songs. Future People also managed a solid Top 10 performance and tracks like Gimme All Your Love and Sound & Color moved the band's status away from my past opinions. It's a shame their radio rollout after the lead single wasn't very successful, but I hope they see some success at the upcoming Grammy awards. I'll be anxiously awaiting more material from them, and I might have to go back and give their past album a listen with my new perspective.
