#03. "Three Cigarettes (In An Ashtray)"
Album: Patsy Cline Patsy really pours her heart and soul into this song. Originally released as a single in 1957, it unfortunately failed to dent the charts. I really feel the heartbreak in Patsy's voice and love how simple and short the song itself is. It is also the first song of Patsy's I heard and I was a fan instantly. To me it's one of her most signature songs and I also loved the fact that it was included in the country radio in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. I used to listen to it all the time while playing the game. There's also a live performance of this song but unfortunately it is lip synced. Still, it's great to see Patsy on TV live, so here it is:

#02. "Crazy"
Album: Patsy Cline Showcase Most proably Cline's most signature hit, it was also her biggest. Missing out on the top spot on both the Country and AC charts (#2 on both - her highest entry on the AC chart) that was made up by it going top 10 in the US main singles chart at the time. It also made a splash in the UK after a re-release in 1990 charting at #14 and staying in the charts for 11 weeks. Just patsy & a piano, her voice excels in this song - more so than her others. I love the controlled use of her country twang and the way she reigns her voice in and lets it go so effortlessly at times, whilst pouring her soul into the song. There are a few live performances of the song too, including audio of her performing it at the iconic Grand Ole Opry: Unlike many of today's stars - she pulls off the song just as good live if not better at times!

#01. "Walkin' After Midnight"
Album: Patsy Cline The song that really started the Patsy Cline train going, it was her first hit and one that has stood the test of time. Charting at #2 on the US country chart and #12 on the US singles chart of the time, it has gone on to become one of Cline's signature songs. The juxaposition of the somewhat "upbeat" production of the song and the pain in Cline's voice makes for a great sound. I love the vocal nuances she does within the song, playing around with her voice at times, whilst also keeping it simple. The song showcases Cline's voice very well and likewise Cline showcases the song very well too. The lyrics and song are simple and short but effective. There's some great TV performances of the song, including one from way back in 1957 when the song was first released!

"Crazy" is absolutely perfect. Her vocals are gorgeous. I'm so so so glad that you put it at number two. It absolutely deserves it. It's my absolute favorite from her. Eager to see what number one is!
Edit: Well, didn't have to wait long! "Walkin' After Midnight" is another gem. I agree on the juxtaposition, it's amazing. So glad that this was her first hit. It really set the bar high for all of her follow-ups.
Absolutely flawless list, Envoirment! :)
