She was asked if her quote or Lady A's.
She said My quote, using some of their words. They've played us three songs. I really like 'em. You will too!
And said.... We've been asked to hold details about new @ladyantebellum single 'til Monday. Promise I'll write up the story for Monday. Stay tuned!

Saw some tweets that Bartender is the new single coming soon. That title makes me a bit nervous, especially since it's coming out in the summer (aka party song season). Hopefully it beats my expectations.

I hope the new single isn't getting a Clear Channel Deal.

a new song on Monday? I honestly have no clue what artists are thinking sometimes. They release an album, 2 singles in a new single, a re-release and then ANOTHER single as if they have something so hot yo u cant even touch. Whats the bet we get a Downtown meets Compass predictable safe 1st single. And as if there is not enough competition on the charts right now. Its almost self sabotage.

With the way the industry is now, I'm thinking they wanted to throw a few things out there and see what sticks. This isn't ten years ago when artists had to wait until a new era to release new music. Really, they have nothing to lose by releasing new music now, since the "Golden" era is clearly over and they don't have anything to promote and aren't touring. It seems like they could easily wait until a new album is ready, but it seems like thief label is insist on getting something to stick before that happens.

Estrangedchild, Lady A have been on tour since Jan and the tour goes through first week in Sept. Hillary said in February, they were touring Golden through the summer and working on a new album but were taking time with it, obviously that changed since new single already.
Lady A has been tweeting pics of some lyrics from new single, they did this before Compass came out as well.
"Spin me 'round and let him buy me a couple more" "8 o'clock on a Friday night, I'm still at home" "Slip on my favorite dress and sky high leather boots"

I didn't think Downtown was safe, it was a different sound for Lady A and so was Compass. Neither of them were "Epic" in any way but they were uptempo and that seems to be the only thing working for Lady A right now. The mid-tempo ballads other than Dancing Away with My Heart have stalled on the charts for them.

I agree, "Downtown" and "Compass" weren't exactly "safe" for them. They were both very far removed from that sleepy bombastic sound they were driving into the ground.

Well I agree at least they weren't boring ballads like their previous releases but Downtown was still a lot tamer than some of the songs on their debut and Compass, which was different for them, was not exactly groundbreaking. I just wish they would take a break if they don't have something hot because constantly throwing stuff out there often results in the demise of chart success.

Well I'd say that if any artist wants to get in on being player this summer, they better release a single now. It's mid-May already, so another 12-15 weeks puts us in July/August which is prime radio time. I'm actually fine with them releasing an album with a few singles and getting fans new music. It wasn't that long ago when an artist was expected to release a new album every year, and that was a good thing.

As much as I love Golden and am disappointed they aren't releasing a fourth single (especially when it could've been "And the Radio Played"), I am certainly not upset to see them moving on quickly. I'd be a little more perplexed that they'd end their last era so abruptly if they weren't planning on coming out with new music. After all, if they were going to take their time and put off the fifth album for awhile yet, why not toss out another single from Golden? They seem to have the right idea if they're ready to put their last album era behind them, imo.

"All for Love" will forever be one of their biggest missed opportunities, but I'm excited to hear this nonetheless.

So they released a deluxe version of their album and already are putting out a new single for a brand new album?

So they released a deluxe version of their album and already are putting out a new single for a brand new album? Yes. Pretty stupid on their part. If they planned the Golden Era right, they should be charting with the fourth single right now. Hopefully, Capitol and Lady Antebellum will get their act together on the upcoming CD.

It makes me wonder if 'Compass' will be listed on the new album as a semi-apology to those who bought the ill-fated first issue of Golden.

Lady Antebellum bellies up with 'Bartender'
Surprise, Lady Antebellum fans! Barely a year after album Golden came out, the Need You Now trio is releasing the debut single from its upcoming fifth studio album to radio Monday. "Bartender" features Hillary Scott on vocals and is an uptempo song about a girl who takes charge of her recently broken heart and plans a night out with her friends to get over it.
"It's always cool when you can capture what feels like a fun track where the lyrics are a little darker," says Lady Antebellum's Charles Kelley. "It's definitely a head-bobber, but then you kind of listen (to the lyrics), and you're like, 'Man, this girl is talking about literally drinking the pain away.' I think those songs are cool, when you can have that juxtaposition."
"As a female, I love the fact that it's not her (saying), 'My heart has been broken, it's so sad, he did me wrong.' It's not about going and rebounding with some other guy," Scott says. "She's just going out with her friends and having a night to forget about what this dude just did to her. I love that as a woman, kind of taking the reins in a situation and getting over it in a fun way."
The group says fans can expect more uptempo songs on its forthcoming album. After spending so much time touring recently, the bandmates realized they needed more fast songs in their sets to keep the audience on its feet. "'Downtown' and 'Compass' showed us that our fans were ready for a little more energy from us," Kelley says. "It was time to get some fresh new music out there."
Previous Lady Antebellum projects were produced by Paul Worley. This time, the group used Nathan Chapman, best known for producing Taylor Swift. "It changed (our sound) a ton," Kelley says. "I was playing the record for a buddy at home that I trust … and he was like, 'Man, it just sounds so much bigger. What is that? Every song hits harder.' The difference is, most records, we only had three or four big (butt)-kickers, and this one, we probably have six or seven."
"Bartender" will be available at digital retailers May 20.

I'm liking the sound of this new single based on their description, and the promise of more uptempo songs has me excited about the new album that I'll like it as I did with Golden and they won't be reverting back to their old ways.

Interesting description, it sounds promising.
Sounds like they wanted to do a complete makeover with a new producer, which can lead to great results sometimes.
I wonder if they picked a single with Hillary on lead because those tend to sell well for them.
In any case, I loved the spark from their earlier singles; it'd be nice to hear that in this new music.

Nathan Chapman, the producer for the new album, first produced for them on their last single Compass.
