How the hell can 7 spins get it to move up 11 spots? Jesus fucking Christ.
What the fuck, Alternative. What the serious fuck.

How the hell can 7 spins get it to move up 11 spots? Jesus f**king Christ. What the f**k, Alternative. What the serious f**k. Four songs went recurrent and Linkin Park and Capital Cities flopped.

four songs went recurrent on Alt charts, but four great songs entered. I'll miss Capital Cities and SomeKindaWonderful the most.
Great news for "Cool Kids" plus. One of the 10 good songs in the entire Billboard HOT 100

This song reminds me of "Pumped Up Kicks" in terms of musicality and chart run. I can see it having a similar chart run, but I don't think it'll reach PUK's peak on the Hot 100.

I love That they are doing great on all those charts, but I don't like seeing my favourite song slotted between the likes of Jeremih and Katy Perry.

Goodbye Cool World! It actaually got its start on Alt Rock radio stations months ago. That's where I first heard it. It crossed over to pop, because its that good. So, technically I like a pop song that is actually from Alt rock genre. It's all good though, I always tend to like: at least, 10 songs in the HOT 100.

It did have an actual push at AAA and alt and was getting played by one of the biggest alternative stations out there, so I don't think it's fair to act as if the song was invisible there. That said, it was very much defined on Hot AC, and then pop, so it's certainly not a true alt crossover. And the two biggest sources of momentum were the MTV Artist to Watch selection (and while MTV chose to promote several alt acts this year, that's still a mainstream push) and the On the Verge push at Hot AC. So it's definitely not a hit BECAUSE it gained credibility at alt.

If anything, it's a crossover from Pop to Alternative, because it only charted in the Top 50 last week. Even if one or two stations were spinning it, others jumped on after it became a pop hit, which is frustrating.

I heard this for the first time on the Hot AC station at work and I love this on first listen. It's very 90's.

10,000 Days in the Fire
After all is said and done, The fact is, that "Cool Kids" was pushed to Alt radio stations first. It's been around for more than a year. The fact that it was spun on Alt radio first, means it was meant for alt radio. The song has appeared on other Allt rock charts and palylists for sometime. Yes; it appeared for first time on Alt Rock top 50 last week, but has been around climbing slowly in the bottom half of charts. Just because Billboard charted it first on Pop, doesn't mean ,it's a pop song. It actually means it's become that popular; hence the name "Pop" .Echosmith is actually very lucky to have caught on on Pop Stations first cuz of it's catchy Indie pop sound. It gave the song a big boost. To top it off; The band , themselves concider themselves Indie Alt Pop/Rock. If anyone is being stubborn it's you. End of story.

This song has pissed me off to no avail. I hate everything it stands for. You hate anything that either crosses over to alt or is an alt crossover. Give it up. That's not why I hate this song. I don't give a damn about labels for this. I hate this because it portrays the struggle of gaining popularity as an upbeat, carefree tune with cheesy lyrics that don't reflect the pain and agony of the struggle as a whole. It's all "I wish I could be like the cool kids, they seem to fit in" but it seems like they're poser elitists, trying to seem like they're better than everyone because they weren't these "cool kids", and the amount of cliches in the lyrics makes me seem like they don't know what it actually is like to want to be like the cool kids, they just took whatever they found from generic teenager movies and turned it into a song. Wanting to be a cool kids is not that simple, it's more than just some breezy pop song. It's about extreme self-loathing and the feeling of hopelessness. It's about chasing a path that's leading nowhere. It's about realizing how much you've f**ked up and how that damage can not be undone. It's about wanting to die for your sins and hoping that maybe, just maybe, you can finally be accepted by them and you'll get the sex and the weed and the booze that you wanted all along. It's about how it truly f**ks up your life, hoping to gain something that you won't ever gain. Not "I wish that I could be like the cool kids, 'cause all the cool kids, they seem to fit in." And as someone who deals with this shit every day, I cannot tell you how much this song offends me.

And as someone who deals with this s**t every day, I cannot tell you how much this song offends me. I'm sorry you are struggling with issues each day. And heck, yes this could be what they are talking about in this song. But honestly, I don't see it that way. I see it as a decent pop rock song by a talented group of siblings who are actually talented enough to write and play their own music, something in short supply these days for the most part, with a few exceptions of course. I don't know what their definition of "cool" means, but I'm not sure it's as dark as you are making it. Yes, it could give people bad ideas, but personally, I have bigger issues with songs that blatantly glorify sex and drugs, or even songs about people that gloat about how bad their relationships are going (yes I'm talking about you Taylor!), than this one.
