So this takes 16 weeks to reach #32, and then in week 17 jumps 10 spots to #22. Gotta love country radio!

I finally heard this yesterday. I wish I could comment on the lyrics , but I couldn't really get past her voice long enough to pay much attention to the words. Shes just horrible and sounds like a screechy Miranda Lambert..... on helium.

Shes just horrible and sounds like a screechy Miranda Lambert..... on helium. While I don't quite think that her voice is quite that annoying, I certainly think she's very limited as a vocalist. When she sings the opening line of the chorus, "God made girls" - the way she sings the word "girls" is about as cringe worthy as it gets for me. The song itself is okay, but not lyrically meaty enough for me to enjoy (though I certainly don't think the song was ever to be made like women are here to only serve men like many have seemed to point out, especially YouTube comments, and yes I know you must take those with a grain of salt but its so overwhelming its hard to overlook). In the end I've never been a fan of this song for her vocals and the bland lyrics. On a side note, and this might be interest to you Uncle Lumpy, my father listened to this song for the first time this past week when I went to visit my Mom and Dad. He also thought she sounded not so good on this song. He thought she was 12 or 13 years old.

Of course she's not a Carrie, Trisha or Martina but she's unique and has character.

Nobody was comparing her to Carrie, Trisha, or Martina. Some people like me think she doesn't have a great voice. There are plenty in the genre right now I feel that way about (mostly male vocalists). It's fine if she has character in her voice but it's just not for me personally. Like .indulgecountry said, to each their own.

I don't know how RaeLynn as a singer-performer will do over the long run - I agree her voice has a type of character that's interesting. I could also see it, perhaps, being limited and possibly even annoying on a full album. (How many successful guys is that true of however ) This song is very fitting for her. I saw her at an event recently, she was effective in the few songs she did, and had a personal charisma that works on stage and stood out vs. some other performers who were there in a multi-artist format.

Is her On The Verge thing over already? Based on the updates the last few days I'd say so, but I thought that this program lasted longer than just a week or so.
Her daily gains have really slowed, regardless. She made Billboard's top 20 this past week, but she'll have a difficult time making bigger milestones if she doesn't start gaining a bit more.

RaeLynn's song was out much longer and was much higher than the previous OTV artists. Thus the impact of the program would not have the long lasting effect on her song than the others. I still think that she will hit the top 15 and really that's what I kind of expected when she was announced as the next OTV artist. This most recent chart issue saw "God Made Girls" gain over 1000 points and over 2.6 million in audience on MB, which had some to do with the recent house cleaning. So far she's up only 83 spins and nearly 800k in audience since Sunday. "God Made Girls" was a unsurprising pick since the sales have been pretty decent and the fact she's known to some from The Voice and is a BMLG recording artist. I think that a top 15 peak with a slight look at a top 10 finish is the most likely scenario.

I don't know, I don't really see her hanging on long enough to hit the top 10 though. Top 15 really seems about as high as I see "God Made Girls" getting, and I don't even know if it'l get that high.

Personally I would love for this to die now since I'm not a fan of the song even though I seem to be in the minority, but I think we need to give it another two to three weeks here. A week and a half isn't enough for me to be convinced she's close to done. Chase Bryant's been having his own struggles gaining traction inside the top 20 and that to me is clearly one that CC (iHeartMedia) whiffed on. I still say it's a bit too early to call it and say this won't go much higher.

I figured since she was chosen as an OTV artist just a couple weeks ago that this song would be far from over and it would be like a new beginning for it. It's been selling pretty well and apparently it's made some big gains on the callout research as well, so I'd be surprised if the airplay for this was upped just to get her into the Top 20 and that be the extent of her success. Like all things considered, I'm expecting at least a Top 10 finish for "God Made Girls," even if it's a close call ala "Merry Go Round," "Wasting All These Tears," and "From a Table Away."

I too think that this one has slowed down a bit simply because its selection as the new OTV song came much later in its chart run, when (presumably) a lot of Clear Channel stations had already been playing it quite a bit. The other OTV selections were way outside the top 40 when they started with their gains, but RaeLynn was well over 6 million audience impressions.
And I think the way that OTV works is that CC stations simply have to play the song a minimum of X times over the 6-week span. In this case, RaeLynn was already receiving airplay at a lot of CC stations before the OTV boost kicked in, so as a result her gains haven't been as big. She hasn't gone from 0 to X at those stations...instead she started out in light to medium rotations at many CC stations so she just has less to gain.

I'm trying to convince my mom that this is "so bad it's good" but she's not buying it.
I know it's terrible in all aspects, but to me, it's an entertaining kind of terrible. I'm just amused that this song even exists. Its badness entertains me, which is more than can be said for, say, "Ready Set Roll" or "Lookin' for That Girl".
Although seriously, why is nearly every review of this song positive? I think Saving Country Music is the only critic who's panned it so far. I'd really like to know what THEY'RE listening to -- the non-helium version, perhaps?

Yeah, this is one of those "love-it-or-hate-it" polarizing songs, which radio usually likes. I didn't realize the size of the controversy surrounding this song, though, which makes me wonder if "God Made Girls" will hit a ceiling in the teens despite high sales. Radio wants something polarizing if it attracts a lot of attention, but if a significant portion of the listeners are offended I think programmers will be more skeptical to give a song heavy rotation. It would be ironic, though, if the first time a new female artist really gets a chance at getting a hit by being chosen for On the Verge, the song happens to be controversial and hits a ceiling.

I still think this song will have a peak between #10-13. It burned up many weeks in the 30's before getting selected as the latest OTV single. It increases 1 million in audience this week with just an 109 spin gain - It's lowest totals in both categories since its OTV breakthrough week. It's last four weeks on MB are:
(+/-)spins (+/-)audience 11/3 343 2.6 11/10 195 1.1 11/17 387 1.2 11/24 109 1.0
This song has sold well though, which is partly (maybe mostly) why it was selected. But the fact that "God Made Girls" was so old when it was selected compared to the previous OTV songs and the fact that this song seems to be striking a nerve with more listeners than normal in terms of negativity, I think that the most this song can do is "challenge" for a top 10 peak. The fact that its a BMLG promoted single might be its biggest ally right now.

I agree that "God Made Girls" may not do more than scrape the top 10, but is Big Machine really that great at radio promotion that we can be sure this would peak lower on the charts if it were promoted by another label, such as UMG, Sony, Warner, or Broken Bow? Big Machine's actually had a really weak year. Rascal Flatts just earned the lowest-peaking single of their career with "Payback" and I think current singles from The Band Perry and Justin Moore might also become the lowest peaks of their careers.
The only song Big Machine proper has on the chart right now is "Shotgun Rider." The only songs Republic Nashville has right now are "Sun Daze" and "Gentle on My Mind," which is really struggling for The Band Perry. The only songs Valory has are "Make Me Wanna," "God Made Girls," and "This Kind of Town,' which is struggling just to crack the top 50, and of course Dot has had a lot of success with the debut single from Maddie & Tae but they're still a "new" label. So that really leaves Big Machine with only one song per division that is doing fine on the charts (two for Valory if you count "God Made Girls").
Big Machine has a reputation for big pushes to #1 for Taylor Swift, the success they had breaking a lot of their new artists, and the success they had keeping Tim McGraw and Rascal Flatts relevant, but it seems the label's success is waning lately.

^ BMLG has a good track record with new artists though. They have proven to get their new artists a top 15 or 20 debut single multiple times before. RaeLynn already had a leg up with her being recognizable on The Voice. Plus the long radio tour she had, so perhaps the writing was already on the wall with her being familiar with country radio.
Now I do think "God Made Girls" would have only reached the top 30 without the OTV program as it clearly has proven to be polarizing with listeners. But you can't tell me that the fact this is another BMLG artist has absolutely zero to do with her being selected. I know it's been revealed that it's more of a "gut" feeling when slecting singles but other factors go into it I'm sure.
Also, I said the fact she is on Valory "might" be her biggest ally at this point. She has eclipsed the top 20 and perhaps the promotion department with Valory can find some way to get this into the top 10. Personally I would love nothing more than this to hit a brick wall right now but I still think Valory has done a good job overall in the past at promotion, especially with Thomas Rhett - I could have easily seen "Something To Do With My Hands" being the kind of song that would have been lost in the shuffle. Plus I'm still a little surprised at the top 15 (MB) peak for "Beer With Jesus".
Look, I'm not saying that BMLG is some world beater when it comes to radio promotion as they have had swings and misses lately but it certainly doesn't hurt "God Made Girls" at this point in its chart run.

Surged to at least #24 on iTunes following The Voice. Not the best post-Voice sales response we've seen, but it's definitely not the worst -- and ultimately very impressive given the style of song.

^ Well radio has taken enough notice of this to award RaeLynn the OTV program, but not so much the past two to three weeks. "God Made Girls" is up just 3 spins since Sunday and has actually lost 500k in audience since Sunday. This song broke even in audience last week and gained 1 million the previous. Her spin increase total over the past 19 days has been just 238. I knew this song would be a slow one at this point in the chart due to its age and listener reaction but these past couple weeks have not been that good.
I still want to see how the next few days (including into next week) play out since right now I'm staring at "God Made Girls" being #1 on the country iTunes chart. So far the sales just haven't benefited this song other than being elected as the next OTV artist (I know, I know, it's a "gut feeling"). If it wasn't for that program, "God Made Girls" would not even be on the chart IMO. This one has a good shot of only peaking in the teens despite its good to great sales.

This appears to be done. It's down 50 spins today and 600k in audience, and had a poor update yesterday if I remember correctly. Kind of surprised with this one since sales were so strong and it had the On The Verge, I figured it was at least top 10 bound.

On the other hand, her voice may be a bit too much for some to get over. The song itself is pretty catchy and obviously has a good message. I like it, myself. Top 5? No, but maybe top 10 for me. Another BIG GLARING issue that I saw is that I seemed to recognize everything about the song, musically. From the drum beat to the heavy over-production of both the bass pedal strong beats and the bass line itself (which coincides with the drum beat at most points in the song), all the way to the backing track of guitar picking in the chorus and backup vocals following a pause in the main vocals. I couldn't place it at first, but then I thought--this could be a Florida Georgia Line song. Then I saw who produced the track. Cool it down, Joey.
