2013 was a blessing and a curse for him. He scored one of the biggest hits ever, but he also went from underrated R&B star to someone everyone loves to hate.

Is it a reggae album? What's up with the color scheme?

This is probably my least favorite album by him. Very boring.

It's crazy how a year ago he was one of the biggest things in music and now no one could give two fucks about him.

I feel for him now. He's fighting for his love the way he may know best. Most mf's would be like fuck it and be okay with Seperation/Divorce.

This is probably my least favorite album by him. Very boring. I agree. The only tracks that really stood out to me were "Time of Your Life" & "Living In New York" (I bet the former will be a single). A few other tracks are decent (including "Get Her Back") but he could have kept over half of this album.

This album is really amazing! Lots of Jazz-feel track. The way that Robin singing the tracks with his full voice is awesome, it's like this is a live album but it's not. #loveit

I don't recall Robin ever being a critical darling anyway, but...maybe I'm wrong? : shrug :

It's still his lowest rated album on All Music Guide, which rates albums relative to an artists' other works, not on a global scale. It's his worst rated album on Slant too.

To go from the song of the summer that no one could escape to selling less in the first week than Ashanti's indie album...sad.

Get Her Back Still Madly Crazy Living in New York City Black Tar Cloud Tippy Toes Something BadMy official review is here. Overall, not a terrible album but nothing great either. I almost feel like every other album he releases since his debut (Something Else, Love After War and now this) is intentionally less commercial, almost to prove a point, which gives me hope that the next album will be better. However, I highly doubt this would've been the follow-up to BL had he not royally f'ed up with Paula. I also wonder if Interscope will let him release another one.

I think people should stop viewing this as a proper follow-up to Blurred Lines. It's clearly not intended to be.

He said in a Twitter chat yesterday that he has not seen Paula in four months and that she's only heard bits and pieces of the album.

I didn't even know that this was a thing that was happening. This really shouldn't be indicative of a new album era when it's not that at all.

You're My Fantasy Lock The Door Whatever I Want Living In New York City Black Tar Cloud The Opposite Of Me Time Of Your Life Forever Love
I have a dilemna with this album. On one hand, I wanted songs with BITE and showed some type of blues that offsets all this lounge singing loverman (Love After War) and sex crazed geek who just discovered his way into getting some pussy (Sex Therapy & Blurred Lines) which he did deliver in a good amount. But on the otherhand, I also wanted songs with a complete THOUGHT not just drunk incoherrent rants. You can tell this album is rushed due to the sloppy songwriting but I'm noticing that Robin isn't that great at lyrics as I actually thought he was. He is great however at being a musician and a producer because the musical bed of this album flows and is very cohesive. I enjoyed half of this album because it showed promise of what could have been a career definer but the other half is just faceless. His voice is strong throughout which I love; at times he gives Michael McDonald/Michael Bolton realness and I love that he doesn't use falsetto so you really get to hear what separates him from Justin, Jon B. and Adam Levine. Maybe because I'm such a history buff, when people steal other artist's styles from diffferent eras it really doesn't bother me unless it sounds like karaoke or a parody. He's usually great at mimicry but not this around LOL.
If you combined the best moments from Paula with the best moments of Love After War, you would have a solid album from him instead of 2 so/so albums. I don't know if this is a publicity stunt to keep his 15 minutes going or if he really is trying to win his wife back, the same way he lost her. I'm thinking its a mix of the 2. Either way with this album out and the general public roasting his ass; I don't see where he can go with the next album. Now Robin has a strange dilemna.

Why shouldn't we consider this a new era? It's a new album, and a single was sent to radio. He may have motives beyond just selling music, and not that many people might know it's out, but that doesn't change the fact that is the follow up album to Blurred Lines.
