So true really, but although I just noticed this countdown as of now this was a fine read (as expected). Some great choices in regards to the top 20 as a whole of course, but my undying love for "I Know You Won't" will always reign supreme in regards to Carrie. Glad it at least made the top 10 here! Great list, Craig.

Amazing list, loved every bit of it and truly looked forward to seeing which songs would be next on your countdown!
I will admit that I sort of was part of the "schizo" club of people who thought "Blown Away" was overrated, but the song's true greatness has grown on me over time and still is to this day.
I looked forward to seeing your revised Top 20 Carrie songs after her 5th album era is complete. :)

I truly meant to participate more here and I apologize for failing to do so. I just finished reading through this, though, and I love it. You and I already knew we had similar tastes, but you pretty much nailed this. I was hoping and expecting "Blown Away" to be the top song, but I can't get mad at someone for acknowledging the perfection that is "Wine After Whiskey." Job well done.

YES YES YES for "Wine After Whiskey" taking the top spot. It will forever be a CRIME this wasn't released as a single. Gorgeous vocals, gorgeous vocals, and thank GOD Mark Bright didn't ruin this with overproduction. Not a huge fan of the studio versions of "Wasted" or IKYW, but it's only because she performs the s*hit out of both live, and makes the studio versions look weak by comparison "Two Black Cadillacs" is such a dark, twisted song, and her vocal on it has gotten even more sinister with each live performance. The video is also equally brilliant. "Blown Away" had to grow on me at first, but now I can't believe I didn't instantly love it. Where the storytelling lacks, the vocals and production make up for it in every way. Her performance is so commanding, damn. I also think it speaks volumes that Carrie had a vision to make this song so big and bold, and LOVE that it paid off in such a f**king perfect way. Queen. Awesome list :)

Strong list, though I was bummed by the omission of "Sometimes You Leave" and "Starts With Goodbye".

14887fan, just curious, what songs would you have picked as the singles from each of Carrie's albums if you had to pick 5 singles from each? I'm curious to see how your single choices would line up with the songs that made your Top 20.

I appreciate everyone commenting in this countdown! I'll be doing a new countdown soon because I kind of like them? But I do want to pay mind to everyone that dropped in to thank you/recognize your feedback. And thank you to everyone that dropped in to read through/+1 the posts. Didn't go unnoticed! couldn't f**king comment, assholes?surfy Thanks for being so enthusiastic! Glad you're a Carrie fan. :) "I Just Can't Live A Lie" is so f**king underrated. Such a gem. I Just Can't Live a Lie See You Again So Small Don't Forget to Remember Me Thrilled to see so much love for "I Just Can't Live A Lie"! Glad others agree! "Just A Dream" was so underrated by critics who constantly complain about Carrie; she finally gives them a song worthy of her talent, and they won't give her s*hit. SMH. Such a glorious song and vocal, though. This one will sand the test of time among Carrie's best tracks, I think. You're a Carrie fan so you'll def remember this: Jim Malec's reviews of Carrie's songs on the now-shut down The 9513. Lmao, that review of "All American Girl", to this day, has me laughing at how pathetic it is. The guy hated/probably still hates Carrie and couldn't stand the success she was seeing so early on in her career. f**king priceless. Glad you liked the countdown! So many of these are my faves as well and I love seeing how much overlap we have with favorite Carrie tracks! I knew there was a reason why I appreciated you! I think I can understand why "Before He Cheats" was considered by many to be her biggest hit yet: it was REVOLUTIONARY. It was because everyone would usually see the soft-sided country girl with the flowers and lying on the wheat fields and all that other stereotypical blah (aside from the typical Shania hits played on country radio here and there), but Carrie gave us a character who didn't take sh*t from ANYBODY, a true badass, and paves the road for many other newer female country artists from simply one song. Her impact is just astounding. Absolutely agreed on everything here. It was just so left-of-center and nobody really saw it coming, especially from the little girl that released "Jesus, Take the Wheel" less than one year prior to BHC's release. It's amazing to think about how quickly she hit the ground running sprinting. I know I'm awful, but I've NEVER heard Good in Goodbye, about to listen to it now though!!! I listened to it. Beautiful! Welcome to the "Good in Goodbye" Appreciation Club! How did I KNOW you were going to comment on that? ;) I love seeing how much you appreciate "I Know You Won't". It's such an incredible song. I'm glad Carrie pays so much mind to it, too. She's yet to not perform it on any of her tours since it was released. She kills it live. Absolutely mauls it. Thanks so much, Elle! :) As long as you're learning to appreciate "Blown Away" and all of its glory, I'm fine with this admission. :) Thank you! And wow @ "5th album era." I can't believe we're about to get a fifth album. I truly meant to participate more here and I apologize for failing to do so. You're not f**king forgiven. I just finished reading through this, though, and I love it. You and I already knew we had similar tastes, but you pretty much nailed this. I was hoping and expecting "Blown Away" to be the top song, but I can't get mad at someone for acknowledging the perfection that is "Wine After Whiskey." Job well done. ok you're forgiven. YES YES YES for "Wine After Whiskey" taking the top spot. It will forever be a CRIME this wasn't released as a single. Gorgeous vocals, gorgeous vocals, and thank GOD Mark Bright didn't ruin this with overproduction. Awesome list :) Amen. Thank you! Strong list, though I was bummed by the omission of "Sometimes You Leave" and "Starts With Goodbye". Both were part of the pack that I had to, sadly, cut. Definitely Top 25, though, along with "Wheel of the World" and "Do You Think About Me". Thank you! We all know I'm not a big , Carrie fan but she can sing, my favs are "Quitter", "Before He Cheats" and the classic " Black Cadillacs" Your love for "Two Black Cadillacs" is still the reason I wake up each and every morning, Coco, ily <3 14887fan, just curious, what songs would you have picked as the singles from each of Carrie's albums if you had to pick 5 singles from each? I'm curious to see how your single choices would line up with the songs that made your Top 20. Good question! In procession of when the singles would each be released: Some Hearts1. "Jesus, Take the Wheel" 2. "Before He Cheats" 3. "Starts With Goodbye" 4. "That's Where It Is" 5. "Wasted" Carnival Ride1. "Flat On the Floor" 2. "So Small" 3. "Just A Dream" 4. "Twisted" 5. "I Know You Won't" Play On1. "Cowboy Casanova" 2. "What Can I Say?" ft. Sons of Sylvia 3. "Someday When I Stop Loving You" 4. "Quitter" 5. "Undo It" or "Songs Like This" Blown Away1. "Good Girl" 2. "Blown Away" 3. "See You Again" 4. "Wine After Whiskey" 5. "Two Black Cadillacs" 6. "Do You Think About Me" --I really think the Blown Away era should've gone a lot farther than it did in terms of its singles. It could've easily surpassed the 2 million scanned (or, at the very least, shipped for a 2x Platinum cert.) by now had they continued to release singles after "See You Again" peaked last summer, but I guess I understand why they opted not to. "The Sound of Music" was definitely Carrie's top priority for the second half of 2013. It obviously payed off, but I'm still bitter about "Wine After Whiskey" receiving zero notoriety. I'd just like to mention that even though some of these aren't on my list, I do think they would play out to be better singles than some of those that did make my list, i.e. "You Won't Find This", "Forever Changed", etc. Single-worthy ≠ the best material. Carrie is perfect. And that is all. *now bow to the Queen of Country bishes* Pretty much sums it all up.

couldn't f**king comment, assholes?No... Mainly because every single post of mine would be the same thing... "OMG I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!1!!" Seriously, not only was your countdown perfect, but you picked some great songs! I knew it would be amazing list and not an obvious one, thankfully! Great to see album tracks like "I Just Can't Live A Lie" and "Someday When I Stop Loving You" on here, your love for "See You Again" (<3 <3 <3), and the fact that songs like "Before He Cheats" don't automatically make it to the very top (no matter how amazing it is). Oh, and obviously "Wine After Whiskey" is the best choice for number one (it would be mine too) as it is by far the most amazing thing Carrie has ever done...stunningly gorgeous! Your write-ups for each song was amazing too! Seriously, I love Carrie so much! Seen her live 3 times and don't plan to ever stop that! She's incredible! Thanks for doing all of this! I really did love it! ^_^

...I feel like I'm the only person who considers "Last Name" to be my fave Carrie song. I f**king love that song. It's not my favorite, but of the Carrie songs I've heard, it's up there. In fact, I think my top 3 as follows: 1) Before He Cheats 2) Undo It 3) Last Name Pretty sure I'd put "Cowboy Casanova" as my 4th and possibly "Two Black Cadillacs" to round out my top 5. Anyway, Multiple good songs on this countdown, but I certainly want to talk about the fact that "Before He Cheats" is one of my favorite songs ever. I played it to death when it came out and can still listen to it on repeat to this day. It was completely different than the other songs Carrie had released and I was shocked to hear this side of her- pleasantly shocked, of course. The music and arrangement is perfect, but Carrie took it to another whole level with her delivery. It's one of those songs for me that I haven't gotten tired of and I can say with pretty much 100% certainty that I never will. Also, "I Know You Won't" is a really stunning song. That song sounds like it would be hell to sing, but Carrie NAILS it, as she does with everything she sings. The strongest female voice in country music for sure. The way this song builds and the way her vocals build throughout the song is fantastic. A great album track, but just because I love it so much, I would have been totally fine with this being a single.

Gah, so late to the rest of this...
Good in Goodbye Before He Cheats I Told You So (though, I prefer the solo version) Just a Dream Two Black Cadillacs Wasted Blown Away Wine After Whiskey
Great picks! Absolutely adore your top three! "Blown Away" and "Wasted" would also be around those positions on my list. "Wine After Whiskey" probably wouldn't make my top ten, but it would be high on the light as it is a wonderful song.

So... no "All-American Girl"? I'd be lying if I didn't say that's always been one of my favorites of hers.
You did this so quickly, I couldn't keep up.
Of what's listed, "Two Black Cadillacs" and "I Told You So" are my favorites. Glad to see them ranked highly. Excellent work!

And in a rare turn of events, Carrie performed "Wine After Whiskey" at her Fan Club party that was held in Nashville last week! She said that this song was easily the most requested song for her to perform; I wonder why?
Everything about this performance is absolute gold. "The Sound of Music" vocal training did wonders for her voice, I swear. I don't think I've ever heard her sound better. Easily one of my favorite live performances of hers to date.
