Release: July 8th 2014 (radio & itunes) Songwriters: Rodney Clawson & Chris Tompkins Source: America's Morning ShowWhat the guys said about the song: One of those songs they had to cut despite that they didn't write it. Takes them back. Great message. Something that they haven't covered and hits home.

^ Good find avalyn. Broadway via Nashville Gap's website said this will be a mid-tempo song. HerePersonally it's going to be hard for me to like anything these guys put out due to the vocals and production of most of their tunes, but I'll wait till I hear it for a verdict.

At this point I dislike FGL so much I almost don't want them to put out anything halfway decent because I don't want to like them, at all. Like sabre14 though, I'm not a fan of their vocals and production period, so even a good song will most likely be a lost cause in their hands.

Could it be similar to Dean Brody's "Dirt"?

Could it be similar to Dean Brody's "Dirt"? Probably not. Dean wrote "Dirt" whereas the red hot writers Rodney Clawson and Chris Tompkins wrote this. Dean's is also a bit of a lighter tune that is "actually country sounding".

Something that they haven't covered Such a difficult task considering all the topics they've covered.

Add me to the list of people that don't like their vocals or production. I'm not planning to go out of my way to hear this. I don't see much point in doing so, since I'm sure radio will play it to death as soon as it's released.

Republic is playing it for radio staffs now but not letting them have it yet. Word is it's a "song of the year" smash unlike anything on the first record and it "sounds country". I wish FGL hadn't put out TIHWR off the Deluxe Package ... it is an awful song and they deserve the grief they are getting for it. Having said that ... their previous 4 singles were all good songs. They are a young act testing their boundaries ... sounds like they realize and understand what they overdid on the first record and are coming with something off the new record that has a little more meat and is definitely a "country song". I can't wait to hear it.

^If this is a mid-tempo country song, I'm anxious to hear it and also anxious to see how all the masses that love them and all their other uptempo/rock/rap will react to it. I really liked headphones off the deluxe version and wish they would have released it as a single.

I know people who have disliked EVERY FGL single to date but like that song. As for this song, these guys wrote the "Black Tears" song so I could see them getting 'deep' or a little 'deeper' in terms of content on the next record. To me it'd be foolish not to send this to radio AND digital download ASAP to keep the momentumg going.

I agree. I really wish they would have released "Headphones" instead of "This is how we Roll"

I think Chris Tompkins and Rodney Clawson have co-written a ton of Florida Georgia line songs on the first Album.

Together they wrote five tracks ("Round Here", "Get Your Shine On", "Hell Raisin Heat Of The Summer", "Here's To The Good Times", "Hands On You"). Some of Rodney Clawson's mid-tempo/ballad co-writes over the years: "Amarillo Sky" "Jackson Hole" (James Wesley) "Comin' Around" "Did It For The Girl" "Be Grateful" (The Farm) "Crash My Party" "Helluva Life" "I Saw God Today" "I Can't Be Your Friend" (Rushlow) "One Of Those Nights" "Never Mind Me" (Big & Rich) "Sweet Southern Comfort" (Buddy Jewell) "Don't Let Me Be Lonely" "Why" (Jason Aldean)

I'm just confused because Fla_Ga line didn't have a hand in writing this song. I thought we were discussing the song "Dirt".

"Hell raisin' Heat of the Summer" is another coulda been huge hit imo. I am a big FLA GA Line fan but I don't really care for the free style/ hick hop songs from tyler as radio singles.

I'll admit I have grown weary of their sound from the last album, but I'm also kinda excited to hear this one. I fully expect at least four smash party bro country songs on the album, but hopefully they can find a medium with some other material.
Someone mentioned Brantley and, although not on the scale, I could see a similar thing. Brantley exudes this tough guy, outlaw country kinda thing, but I far more enjoy his ballads and mid tempos (More than Miles and My Kind of Crazy) than his outlaw rock country songs. Hoping FGL can hit the same happy medium.

I can't wait for this song! I think they realize they took it a little too far with TIHWR. I love their debut album, but I'm ready for a new one! It'd be nice to hear both of their vocals. I like Brian's voice a lot although I don't mind Tyler's.

They may bring something with more "depth" than what they've put out but to say they went too far, naw. Not at all.

I'm not the one who thinks that; I know a lot of people were put off by the rap in it. Personally I like most of that song but the video kind of killed the second verse for me. Also, didn't that peak at #2, blocked by Luke? Anyway, I'm ready for a new single from both artists, especially FGL.

TIHWR peaked at #2 on both airplay charts (Billboard & Mediabase). "Play It Again" and, to a lesser extent, "Rewind", kept it from the top spot. If you want to claim it as a #1, you can't go by the radio charts. It topped Hot Country Songs a couple months back, and I'm sure the label will count that, but that chart doesn't have too much credibility in the eyes of most here.

Yes, now that you mention "Rewind" getting the Mediabase #1 the first week of Luke's Billboard Airplay #1, I remember it. I'd totally switched up the two.

^Yeah, that would be dumb to not be, in 20 years from now a nearly 50 year old frat boy. That's an appealing quality in anyone.

If they're 50 and still singing about what it's like to be in their 20s, you have a point. But right now they're writing music and singing songs that are relevant to their lives. They have plenty of time to evolve and change their sound.

These guys need to make it while they can, and quite frankly it makes no sense to try and fix something that isn't broken. They are who they are and either you like them or you don't. Kenny Chesney is much the same way. He has tried some different things but never got away totally from what got him there.
