COMING THIS WEEK TO CMT! Look for these new videos: Kip Moore, "Dirt Road," Jerrod Niemann, "Donkey," Josh Thompson, "Wanted Me Gone," Florida-Georgia Line, "Dirt," and Sam Hunt, "Leave the Night On." Music Videos. Would've been funny if it was all songs about "Dirt" or with "Dirt" in the title. Before you know, someone will record "A Song About Dirt" that is nothing about dirt. ;) I so wanted to like this band because one of my friends was posting all about them way before "Cruise" became a hit. But when "Cruise" hit the air waves I just wanted to slap something every time I heard "Baby you a song". Who talks like that anyway? I thought that "Stay" might sway me since it was a little different, but I can't get past the vocals that grate in my ears. The other songs were, well, I can't say it on a public forum and not get kicked off. And I don't think that it is just that I don't like their voices because there are other singers out there that have voices that aren't that pleasing and yet I can listen to them because they can carry a tune. These guys are just bad singers (although I'll give them credit for singing better then me :) ). Will "Dirt" change how I feel? Time will tell.

Of course - what I meant was that it wasn't just the band member who confirmed it; NBC is advertising them as well.

Oh, sorry! I totally misread that then. But it seems they are doing as much promotion as they can with the song.

Nearly all the lyrics can be found here. It's from the ad for the song.

I'm having my hopes up that it will be a ballad but from the lyrics posted in the ad it may be the same thing as usual.

On iTunes; it's fairly downtempo, judging by the preview.

Wow that's one of their best songs so far. It's very country sounding too. As much as I love their rockers and party songs, they sound really good doing a slower style song. I actually really like the lyrics and the style that the song is sung also. This is going to be a 3-4 week #1 easily.

Just downloaded this. LOVE IT. Between this song and Kris Allen's new song I just bought, this is the best Monday I can remember! Dirt is so much better than I'd hoped, and I love hearing Brian sing a verse.

I expect this to top Hot Country Songs in a very short amount of time due to how many people are buying the single off iTunes alone already and then the song and video premiere tomorrow. Radio is going to eat up the crap out of this song and blow it to #1 in record timing. I expect this to even hit #1 on iTunes Top Songs chart (All Genres).

THIS is the greatest 'real country' song these boneheads could come up with? I don't know whether to laugh or cry for the country radio format. A poor mans version of everything released in the last decade.

This is better than anything they have released in the past! i think its country enough and its not a bad song at all. i think we should be happy we dont have cruise 2.0 :-]

Predicting a very rapid rise to the top for this. I only listened to the preview but it seems like something I'll be able to listen to. Still a little loud on the production, but not everything can be all acoustic so it is what it is.

The production is loud and the vocals are cringeworthy (but that's because it's FGL), but the song itself is probably the best one they've put out thus far. I still hate 'em and think their musical merit is minimal as can be, but this song isn't bad at all. I won't be mad when this hits #1.

I agree with Aiden that the production is a bit loud, especially in the chorus where I feel Tyler is trying to be heard over the music, but I'll admit it's fairly easy to look past that aspect since many of their material is over produced IMO. The song subject is a little corny having a song revolve around "Dirt" (and I still enjoy Dean Brody's song of the same name better), but the lyrics are not the train wreck like their last two singles were along with "Cruise". I do applaud them for finally changing to this kind of song for a change instead of the party on a Saturday night theme they beat repeatedly into the ground (yes I know they had "Stay", but that was a rock song that had ridiculous nonsensical lyrics).
The mid-tempo vibe is pleasant and different enough for them where I do think this is there best effort thus far at radio, and could grow on me with more listens, though that remains to be seen since I haven't been a fan of any previous singles. I do expect this to continue the top 5 streak they currently have with BMLG promoting the you know what out of this (the adds for this are already all over YouTube by the way).

This is the least offensive to my ears single they have released so far. I'm still having a hard time getting past their previous singles but this is an improvement. It's missing a hook that grabs me but I'm glad it's a step in the right direction and country sounding.

Well, at least it sounds more country than previous releases, so I'll give them that. I guess I don't understand the hoopla behind this; it's low tempo and unremarkable and I don't really see the hook in the song. This is what several people said could be Song of the Year this fall? Wow, I'm really out of touch of what country music is today if this is the best we'll hear before the awards shows. In record time? I guess it has six days to gain about 50m AI to debut at #1 on the airplay list then like Garth did a few years ago...good luck on that. If you are talking about the new Hot Country Songs chart...why?

Yes, Hot Country Songs is what I am pertaining to with record time. I think this could hit #1 even quicker then "Somethin' Bad" did for Miranda/Carrie. This is going to be a MONSTER HIT with digital markets, I am sure of that.
I have a friend named Claire Ballard who is part of Clear Channel in Las Vegas and she said to me on my Facebook page tonight that her station 95.5 The Bull will be playing this ALL DAY TOMORROW of every hour. So it looks like Clear Channel treatment will be in place for "Dirt".

^ I do believe Broadway of 92.5 in CT said on NashvilleGap a few weeks back that this new single by FGL was going to "blow you away" and was "CMA Song of the year caliber".
Needless to say it fell quite a bit short of that IMO, even though I do think this is their best effort at country radio so far though almost anything would have been better than the last single.

Haha, yes, BK gets to sing!
I definitely think all those talks about this being "game changing" were absurd, but it's a hell of a tune.
