Good choice. I was hoping for either this or "Wild Card" next.

Good choice. I was hoping for either this or "Wild Card" next. I agree - those are the two I hoped for, too. They are both perfect for summer, catchy and uptempo. I expect "Tattoo" to eclipse "Invisible" with ease.

I agree also! This song is the one from his album that I can't get out of my head after listening to it. Its ear candy at it's sweetest! That will make it return Hunter to #1 I'm sure! Very happy with this choice!

I knew it was going to be this one. This is the song that I have replayed most often since I bought the album. I can see this as an easy Top Ten.

I'm glad this is the uptempo being chosen. Hopefully this smashes and paves the road for "You Think You Know Somebody" to be massive.

Heard this on KKGO earlier today and I was wondering what this Hunter song was that I was enjoying.

Good choice. I was hoping for either this, "Wild Card" or "Storyline". It should easily outperform "Invisible", and get this album back on track at radio.

I like Wild Card more to be the follow up to Invisible but I'm good with this as well.

Well, i'm in the extreme minority. I (and just about every HH fan I know) do not like this one very much at all. When we first discussed the album, it was like 'i loved every song so much!!!1! Oh, well, except "Tattoo". "Invisible" was far better. Should've gone with one of the first two tracks. Not surprised though. WDYSLM will almost certainly never see radio of course (though perhaps I can hold out hope that it gets chosen over "Wild Card").
I'll hope for top 10 and nothing more for this blemish on Hunter's discography.

There was a discussion about next singles and tattoo was at the top of the list for a summer song with "you think you know somebody" as the top pick for fall Personally i was hoping for this or Storyline but idk if hunter has the breath to keep up with storyline as a single lol and i agree with everyone overall picking tattoo is a hell of a pick

I've been reading his message boards a lot lately and "Tattoo" is a top fan favorite there. That is where his biggest fans of fans hang out, so I'll let them be the judge!

Not my favorite off the album, but not bad at all. I like the melody, especially in the chorus. I hope it does really well for him!

This is exactly what he needed. I love Invisible, and it holds a lot of personal meaning to me, but I don't think it was a good idea for a lead single. This is an easy top 10 for him at the very least. It could really get him to the next level of stardom. (Also, as a Hayniac, this is my favorite uptempo on the album and it's awesome live).

Of course he's jumping in the single cover... he does that quite a bit at his concerts. Personally, I was hoping for something that had more to do with the song (like him in a tattoo parlor) but it's well done.

Hunter just needs to go full Bieber and get sleeves done with random tattoos everywhere else! lol! Ya'll know I'm kidding with that. I just can't picture Hunter with ink. Maybe a Henna tattoo like ya get at the beach... lol! Awesome song though!

Like I said before, I love this song. That's a good thing, because it's always stuck in my head.

I just meant the tattoo factor. Hunter would never tat himself up like Justin. He has too much class. And he has more talent in one hair on his head than Justin ever dreamed of having.

I love that single cover. At first I didn't even realize those images were spray-painted onto the wall. Very neat concept and wonderful execution. Looking forward to seeing how this one does; I wouldn't be surprised to see this one wind up as his third Number One hit after "Wanted" and "Somebody's Heartbreak."

It's a solid pop-country song, but it almost seem TOO polished to make a major run (beyond whatever baseline run the song would get by virtue of being a Hunter Hayes track).
I've been a fan since the beginning, and while I get the "Country Bieber" notion from a superficial perspective, his best musical skew is actually more in a country-adult contemporary direction. Wanted was not a typical boy band track, and Rainy Season, the other best song from his album, felt like it came straight from John Mayer's Continuum.
The only true standout track on the new album, meanwhile, is the very John Mayer-esque When Did You Stop Loving Me (including the guitar outtro).
We saw from the shockingly weak album sales number that Hayes is not necessarily the teen heartthrob we might have thought he was (kids weren't racing to buy this the way they do Bieber, 1D, 5SOS, etc albums). I, therefore, see far more upside in portraying him as the cute, likable, legitimately talented act (the fact that he plays all the instruments--or at least did--gets lost on a teeny-bopper market) that moms and teens jointly adore.

Weak? It was a strong number for a lead single that wasn't lighting up the charts. He's still got amazing amounts of fans. It'll do just fine. "Invisible" just wasn't something radio really was desiring to play. So when you look at the song's sales numbers at that point, 500k (nearly) is really good and it is because of who Hunter is. "Tattoo" will likely do at least that and will also likely be a Top 10 hit. His album is at 100k sales which is not bad either.

Yes, I'd say ~60K first week sales for the follow-up to an album that produced 2 #1s and 3 Top 5s from a very well-exposed artist who was positioned as a cross between Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber is pretty freaking weak. That the album, at least thus far, was FRONT-LOADED (based on only 100K sales to date) is even more troubling. That first week total was the product of his fans coming out in force. I'm also not sure why you are referencing the lead single as if it helps the cause. For starters, the idea of Hunter Hayes -- the guy who seemingly became a blockbuster star after his first album -- releasing a follow-up album should have been enough to excite anyone into purchasing. *AND*...the fact that the lead single didn't take off given that it received the most important Grammy exposure possible (I believe it was one of the only, if not the only, new songs to debut on the show) and came from someone who was supposed to be one of the biggest country names on the planet based on the success of his first album is actually further proof he doesn't have the fanbase it seemed he had.

I completely agree with all you said kanimalI also have to add that I was speaking to one of my very close Hayniacs last night and we both had a disappointment about the album with so little time since the release date. I was surprised I am not alone in that assessment, and she brought it up so it was not as if she was just agreeing with something I said. Initial excitement came from the first three tracks on the album and perhaps a little bit that we felt like YTYKS could be a big hit (though I'm not a huge fan) as well as WDYSLM in my case, but as a whole product, the album just feels very weak especially coming off the heels on Encore on which I legitimately loved every single new track (and only produced 1 single from the new tracks). Even the standard edition left a lasting impression. There may have not been tons of catchy tunes or extremely deep lyrics, but I was able to go two years before I started getting burned out. On the new album, I have 5 songs that I like but also that I feel like are burning on me much faster in many fewer listens ("Invisible" being a weird exception that grew on me tremendously). Since the release of the new album, I find myself listening to the Encore bonus tracks more and more. Maybe it is a reminder as to why I love Hunter Hayes so much. He needs to be emphasize his original image as the talented act he is focusing on all he does aside from vocals - the instrumentals on this album weren't enough - rather than trying to write melodies specifically targeting the teen market with pop-country melodies. (That's not to say pop-country is inherently bad even if I have a bias - Taylor and others do it well though this album falls short.) I'm fine with "Invisible"'s release with the high school message (though it should have been a promotional single rather than spending 20 weeks at radio), but getting back to songs like "Storm Warning", "Faith to Fall Back On" and "More Than I Should" (and as you said "Rainy Season" though that is obviously not a radio fit) would be much better.
