Love the video, I think it does the song a lot of justice. Very edgy which I like. I hope this song can last long enough on the charts to make it to #1.

Got a little bit of a "Oh, wait a minute" moment around halfway through the video with the actress in the video, but it cut to another scene just in time.

I want this one to be Keith Urban's 17th chart topper.

Just saw the music video for the first time and I LOVE it. Definitely a huge step up from the "Cop Car" video, which I felt was lackluster. This was honestly a really great video, on all accounts. It had very little of Keith Urban in it which surprised me a bit, but it worked so, so well.

My granddaughter (14 yr old) says she is so in love with SIMC. She likes a lot of country and pop, but she's really crazy about this one! I certainly hope this song can go all the way for Keith!

Hard to believe it's been NINE years since the beyond-humungous and downright wonderful 'Better Life' spent a whopping six weeks at #1; hearing that great track this weekend on 'CT 40' when it ruled the charts was absolutely delightful.
I know this wonderful tune won't spend 6 weeks at #1 (dadgummit!!), but 3 or more weeks would be superb, and I'm looking forward to it cracking the top 10 by Tuesday or Wednesday, passing 'Somethin' Bad' and 'Roller Coaster' in the process.

^ I think Better Life is one of his less memorable songs. Also, I wonder why the local stations have always been completely allergic to it. It just doesn't feel like a 6-week #1 to me.

^ I know, I'm saying that it doesn't have the "feel" in my mind that most 6-weekers do. Same with "As Good as I Once Was". It just seemed to fall off the radar entirely after it was gone.

Aside from "Should've Been a Cowboy" and "How Do You Like Me Now?!" I'm pretty sure that's one of the Toby Keith songs I hear the most on radio. I still hear "Better Life" some too. It really just depends on where you live and what the DJs like. ETA: As an example, I think I've seen you say something about "Stays in Mexico" being overplayed, but I don't think I've ever heard that on the radio before.

BL and SLY are the two Keith songs I hear mostly on radio. Don't hear much of Toby's songs on radio anymore. I think my station doesn't play many artist unless they have a new song on radio or one being released to radio, which I think is so odd. They play the Top Ten songs to death, til I'm so sick of hearing them.

Maybe it's just all of my local stations then. WATZ only ever seems to play Should've Been a Cowboy and Stays in Mexico, and WKJC seems to totally ignore Toby.

If either 'Better Life' or 'As Good As I Once Was' had been released earlier in 2005 and parlayed their 6-week stints at #1 in to winding up #1 for the year as opposed to that schlocky Craig Morgan tune (TWILAS), that would have been terrific IMHO.

Flipping through this weeks Country Weekly and in an article about Keith Urban and his Fuse album this little tidbit popped up:
"Keith thought of Eric when he first heard the fun-loving Raise Em Up, which Keith projects AS POSSIBLY THE NEXT SINGLE from Fuse...."
If this is true i would be very happy

This song is absolutely on fire. It gained over 6 million in audience the past week on Billboard alone. It's now less than 2 million behind Frankie at #3 and Little Big Town at #4. If it gains on them again next week like it did this previous one, it could potentially beat both of them to #1 after Sam's week and then Blake's. It'll be interesting to see if Keith slows it down this week to be nice or if they keep pushing hard. It's also 7 million ahead of Maddie & Tae, so no one is threatening from behind.

SIMC no doubt had a colossally huge week, but I'd be stunned if Keith wound up jumping ahead of Frankie and LBT. I think Keith got some huge gains simply due to the collapse of so many songs recently (finally, after weeks of the chart being too backed up), and of course SIMC is also researching very well so that helps. I expect Keith to cool his jets quite a bit and have weekly gains back in the 'normal' 1.5 to 2 million range. I think this song is at least 3-4 weeks away from #1 yet, but that's assuming he goes up behind Frankie and LBT. I do think that will be the case though. LBT is Keith's label-mate on Capitol and they just had an album come out so I think the label will be going full-steam ahead with "Day Drinking", and Warner Bros. and Frankie obviously have a strong desire to get "Sunshine & Whiskey" to the top of the charts as well. So with that in consideration I just can't see either of those two getting passed by Keith this late in the game.

I agree that it's most likely that all the songs get a turn at #1, as we just saw happen with a whole bunch of contenders. The only thing that could change that scenario would be Shelton getting 2 weeks at the top with his hit. If that were to happen, maybe Ballard's song would not be able to last long enough to peak at #1, and it might have to settle for a #2 on BB (and maybe get the #1 on MB only).
Either way, it looks like Urban will have to wait at least 3 weeks before he gets his turn at #1. I can manufacture a scenario in which he passes both LBT and Ballard, but I can't get myself to buy into my own idea.

I doubt Frankie will get blocked considering he and Blake Shelton are both Warner Music Group artists and Blake has already performed his new single on the CMA awards, so "Lonely Tonight" will probably immediately start zooming up the chart next week.
It's good for Keith that "Somewhere in My Car" is looking at a speedy six-week climb through the top 10, because this single has actually become one of his slowest climbers that I can remember. A 25-week climb to #1 is only one week quicker than Thomas Rhett's "Get Me Some of That" and one week slower than Randy Houser's "Runnin' Outta Moonlight." This is partially because the charts as a whole are just getting to be a lot slower, but I also remember this Keith Urban single taking just a tiny bit longer to take off than usual (a few slow days in the 40's).

Yeah, this was certainly one of Keith's slowest climbing songs over the past few years. I think the combination of this being the fourth single, the previous single having its own troubles in "Cop Car", and just the fact that this past summer and early fall were brutal with competition were the deciding factors. I never was surprised though at "Somewhere In My Car's" slower than usual for Keith climb and now we are seeing that there was never anything to worry about. I know many want "Raise 'Em Up" released as the final single but I'm doubtful we'll see a fifth single unless Keith is nowhere close to new material.

I don't think he's anywhere close to new material. His tour only just wrapped up and now they're filming for American Idol again...I can't see him getting into the recording studio until May or June at the earliest. I don't follow his personal life as much as others do but he's obviously got a family too, and he's often traveling different places with Nicole when he's not busy in Nashville. I think there's a pretty good chance that "Raise 'Em Up" will be the 5th and final single from Fuse.

If May is the earliest then they would be pretty much forced to release a fifth single.

Yeah, and I think "Raise Em Up" probably makes the most sense as a fifth single. At least I hope it's what they go with.

I think I saw somewhere on the upcoming singles thread that Keith mentioned somewhere about Raise Em Up being a 5th single. But honestly, they have some other quality options. Good Thing would be a good choice as well, and was almost released as the 4th single. He's released 5 singles before too, so I'd bet on getting another one since this will peak at #1.

I think with it being a potential fifth single, the start power of a Keith/Eric duet would help it immensely.
