RANDY MONTANA - signed to Mercury Records and son of famed hit songwriter Billy Montana. I still can't believe this song is already 3 years old. I really think Mercury dropped the ball with Randy Montana, they need to get him back out there! Unfortunately, Randy is no longer with Mercury/UMG. :'( Additionally, gonecountry created a thread very similar to this one back on June 1st (it had been bumped down to page 3 of this sub-board), so I'm going to go ahead and merge the 2 threads together and re-title them.

Rick Huckaby - was signed to Warner Brothers Records for a couple of years but they never released his record, instead they shelved it. BIG mistake on their part. Here's Rick singing his hit song that he co-wrote with Thomas Rhett called "Beer With Jesus". I think you guys will know that one, but may not know of Rick :)

Thanks jhomes87 for merging the threads. I'm excited to check out these artists. Too bad around Randy Montana. I recall he made some "best of" lists the year his album was released. Too bad he wasn't able to parlay it into something more long term.

If you have not yet heard of Buddy Brown you have been missing out. One of, if not the most popular and best selling independent country artists. He has good covers on YouTube as well as some of the best written original material out there all of which he has penned himself. I will post a few videos and you can go ahead and check out the rest on his channel.
"This Is How We Roll"
"Granddad's Boots"
"Not Fooling Anyone"
"Shotgun Wedding" "Close To Love"
"When You Say Nothing At All"
"Mason Jar"

Gator Park I have been listening to them quite a lot lately. Guaranteed Bro-C free! :) Their current "Hayseed Highway" is a real grower. It is currently making some shy inroads on secondary radio. You can check it out here:

Kingston (formally known as The Carter Twins) is a duo that I have been following for a while now. In 2009 (as The Carter Twins) they released their first single "Heart Like Memphis" under a new label formed by CMT. They released an EP with 4 tracks on it including Heart Like Memphis, but left their label before a full album was released. Then in 2011 they changed their name to Kingston, auditioned for X-Factor, but were cut before the top 32. Shortly after X-Factor they released a single to iTunes called Dear Someone and then released Best Years Of Our Lives in 2012. They are always writing and have posted several originals on their YouTube channel, along with covers. They have awesome harmonies and I love the lyrics to their songs. They kind of remind me of Dan + Shay. As The Carter Twins Heart Like Memphis As Kingston Best Years of Our Life Co-Pilot This was just for fun. As a way to promote a breakfast fan club event they did during CMA Fest they did a parody of Kesha's Bla Bla Bla. Very entertaining and pretty clever. I'm not going to post all of the videos so here's their YouTube channels Kingston YouTubeCarter Twins YouTube You might be able to find older songs and covers on this one

Another artist that doesnt stand a chance in todays market but is great nonetheless is Kevin Moon. He had an excellent album last year called "Laid Back" and has a duets album coming out this fall called "Throwback". The first single was just released and is a remake of "Straight Tequila Night" with John Anderson. www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFcUzw1aBgQ

Limiting this to people I've seen as supporting acts in live performance, a few whom I've really enjoyed but are just starting or still seeking breakthrough success as solo acts: Chris Janson - tons of energy in live performance www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gl9J6DcSIQ Mallary Hope - good songwriter, very personable, strong voice www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8IJXl_q79wLyndsey Highlander - saw her recently, surprisingly polished and versatile singer, really held her own as someone I'd never heard of before www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTZqYXS6H24

Neat discovery today via Sheryl Crow - this trio is opening for her during her UK tour. Red Sky July is a British trio; listening to their second album, Shadowbirds, now and love the three-part harmonies throughout.

Folk Family Revival is my absolute favorite unknown country band. Their website calls them an "Americana-Folk-Rock-Country-Blues" band, but I'd say they're mainly rooted in country. Unfolding, their debut album, debuted in July 12, 2011 and was produced and mixed by Jeffery Armstreet at Red Tree Recording Studio in Magnolia, Texas. The album also features the instrumental prowess of Scott Davis who also produces albums when not on tour playing lead for Hayes Carll. The record was mastered by Grammy-winning engineer Gavin Lurssen. Their second album, Water Walker, was funded on PledgeMusic and they received 115% of their goal. The album is going to be released sometime before the end of the year and I'm super excited. The entire debut album is available on YouTube. Some of my favorite tracks: "Unfolding" "Thinking Out Loud" "Addicted to the Road"

Templeton Thompson - Nashville based singer-songwriter. Templeton has had songs cut on million selling albums by, Reba, Jo Dee Messina, Sherrie Austin, Little Texas, and more. (She also sang backup on the Reba song, "Where You End And I Begin" which she co-wrote; appears on So Good Together - 1999). Aside from her career as a songwriter on Music Row, she embarked on her own solo independent career as a singer in 2003. Since 2003, Thompson has released: - 5 original studio albums
- 1 covers album
- 1 holiday EP
- 1 soundtrack album.
Dream Big, Work Hard, Have Faith...That's not just something I say. I've lived by those words for a long time! I've dedicated my whole adult life to making music. When I was fresh out of college, I moved to Nashville (my first BIG leap of faith) I didn't know, at the time, what my music career would look like, I just knew I had this need to write and sing! After a short gig as an intern at Arista Records, I got my first publishing deal. I spent every day writing songs with some of Nashville's very best writers. I was also in the studio (a lot) singing my own demos and singing demos for other writers. I'm so grateful to be able to say that some amazing artists chose to record some of my songs! When I got the call that Reba McEntire was gonna cut one of my songs, I pretty much freaked out! When I got the call inviting me to come sing on the record, I completely freaked out! :) For the last several years, I've been recording and touring as an independent artist. It's the hardest, most rewarding and fulfilling thing I've ever done. Actually, "independent artist" is not entirely accurate. I am independent in that I don't have to answer to (or have the financial backing or promotional power of a label). But I'm totally DEPENDENT on the folks who like the music enough to buy our CDs and downloads, book us to perform and support us in so many other ways! That brings me to this campaign. I'm chomping at the bit to record and release a new collection of songs! But, the truth is, producing, manufacturing and promoting a new project is expensive (more expensive than I can afford on my own) so I'm hoping you'll consider becoming a part of our team in helping to bring this project to life! Last year we reached out to the folks who know about and support our music to help us launch our "When I Get That Pony Rode" music video. Y'all showed up BIG TIME and because of your emails, texts, phone calls and views, the video was #1 on CMT.com in it's first week and aired on GAC's Daily Countdown show for two months! I'm so honored that so many of you are on our team and, with your help, we'll get this record made and out to the world!
I promise you WILL NOT be disappointed. She is a great vocalist. Please support her music.

I strongly recommend Elizabeth Cook here. I got an EP from her for free from NoiseTrade. Amazing voice and country to boot
Also, but more on the faith side of country, Wesley Randolph Eader has some great tunes
