I'm assuming they figured they had enough points to get #1 for week that ended Sunday, since it's off iTunes (presumably replaced by the EP version). There needs to be a better solution for this. I still don't understand why they can't hot-swap the song at its existing chart position. Because, remember, iTunes chart position isn't just about vanity. Being in the top ten = front page = more sales. So removing a song from the list not only makes it LOOK worse...it makes it temporarily sell worse. ITA - Thanks to kworb, you see the unusual spikes that suddenly at two specific points - when a song first enters the top 10 (excluding preview tracks that are tied to album pre-orders) and when it hits #1. It seems pretty logical that iTunes would have technology to make that swap. Let's see if AATB makes it back to #1 on iTunes. Fortunately it's back in Top 10 now.

Epic really dropped the ball in promoting the EP. Their biggest artist of the moment drops new material and its crickets from the label.

Epic really dropped the ball in promoting the EP. Their biggest artist of the moment drops new material and its crickets from the label. Everything about this was done wrong. Even the title. Calling it "Title" might seem cute, but business isn't about being cute - it's about selling. Why they didn't call this "All About That Bass EP" or "No Treble EP" is beyond me.

I mean, Rittz is outselling her on the iTunes album chart, whoever that is. I find it very hard to believe that there is so little interest in more material from her, but I guess its possible

Yeah Epic is fairly awful in promoting their artists. To be honest, I can't even think of an artist that sells consistently that is on that label.

Over on the Digital Songs chart, Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass" regains the No. 1 slot, rising one rung, selling 312,000 downloads (up 17 percent).

Meghan is number one on the Billboard Hot 100!!
"Trainor's Hot 100 takeover is only part of a big week for the 20-year-old: she released her debut four-song EP, Title, on Tuesday. The set is due on next week's Billboard 200."
Other highlights of Trainor's Hot 100 coronation: "Bass" is the second debut No. 1 by a lead female artist this year, following Iggy Azalea's seven-week reign with "Fancy," featuring Charli XCX. The last year in which two maiden entries by women in lead roles ruled the Hot 100? 2008, when Leona Lewis ("Bleeding Love") and Katy Perry ("I Kissed a Girl") each dominated on their first tries.
"Bass" also brings acclaim to Trainor's label, Epic. It's Epic's first Hot 100 leader since Sean Kingston's fellow debut hit "Beautiful Girls" in 2007 (which Koch co-promoted with Epic). "Bass" is Epic's first No. 1 by a woman since Shakira's own ode to seductive shaking, "Hips Don't Lie," in 2006. The last lead female artist on Epic to take a debut hit to the top of the Hot 100? Minnie Riperton, whose soul classic "Lovin' You" led the April 5, 1975 list. (The late Riperton's daughter is actress Maya Rudolph.)
Trainor additionally makes her home state proud, joining other Massachusetts-born acts that have led the Hot 100, including Donna Summer, Bobby Brown, Aerosmith, Extreme and New Kids on the Block. (The latter group reigned 25 years ago this week with "Hangin' Tough.")

It's funny, some people I know seem to get like legit anger at the mere thought of this song. They totally despise it. And then others I know just love it. I think it's strange cause I'm rather adverse to the love/hate reaction of it and just feel pretty ambivalent towards it.

Yes, some people overreact to this song big time, but to be true the last three number ones on billboard hd similar reaction (people got annoyed with time at Happy but there weren't complains when it reached number one). The curious thing is as much as this and Switch it off generate a polarizing opinion if Anaconda reach number one (wich i doubt) i think billboard hot 100 videos on youtube will explode with hate messages. I think the reaction to this (and Switch it off) are from people that don't get the songs at all, in their funny campy glorious. I think with time hate this is a real posibility because this is going to be everywhere, but it's a perfect summer song

I just think it's strange people get so worked up over a "positive body image" song. I think it's always good, for young girls especially, to have that reinforced. The song itself isn't even grating to me aside from maybe the "all about the bass, no treble" hook which can get old quick. The actual chorus is fairly pleasant on the ears though I'd say,

Three songs (AATB, Title, Dear Future Husband) are very much the same type of song - throwback pop vibe, snarky lyrics, etc. One song (Close Your Eyes) is good (her voice sounds great), but it's more of a traditional ballad--doesn't fit her usual gimmick as well. Still has a throwback feel, but it actually reminds me a lot of Demi Lovato's "Lightweight."
