I listened to Meghan Trainor's EP tonight. I really enjoyed it. Every song was great. Is there any word if she is going to release a full album in the future? If she is, I will be thrilled. She has the voice and the talent.

Frankly i think the sales and the position on chart of the EP are a big dissapointment. She is hot right now, her single is one of the smash of the year, but the EP was not even top 10, something that even The Vamps made it, and the sales are far from Shawn Mendes or Troye Sivan (and Sivan did it without performances or any airplay). I know that those guys are famous on internet and had already a fanbase before the release, but she has a number one hit. What happened? it failed the promotion or what?

will get some promo on Dancing With The Stars next week as a dance number. www.examiner.com/article/dwts-season-19-week-2-spoilers-press-release-reveals-myjammonday-set-list{spoiler}YouTube star Bethany Mota and "Pretty Little Liars" actress Janel Parrish both opened their "DWTS" tenures with the fleet-footed jive, and will also dance the same style, the foxtrot, during week two. Parrish and Val Chmerkovskiy will perform to Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe," while Mota and Derek Hough will hit the ballroom to "All About That Bass" by Meghan Trainor.

What a disgraceful #1 song with a God-awful stupid fucking video. This ugly white chick is bringing booty back? J Lo, Kim K and others have me asking where it went in the first place. And how can we know that Megan has a booty when she doesn't even show it in the video?
What a stupid song that promotes being average and dumbing down our society. Errr, I mean...body positivity. Yeah. Fuck this.

Did anyone see the BB Mainstream Top 40 chart from September 27? It lists this song as the Hot Shot Debut when, in fact, it had been #3 the week before. What gives?
EDIT: It's also listed as the Hot Shot Debut on the Hot AC chart. There must be a computer malfunction involving that song - whatever other chart it's on, it's probably indicated as the Hot Shot Debut there as well.

What a disgraceful #1 song with a God-awful stupid f**king video. This ugly white chick is bringing booty back? J Lo, Kim K and others have me asking where it went in the first place. And how can we know that Megan has a booty when she doesn't even show it in the video? What a stupid song that promotes being average and dumbing down our society. Errr, I mean...body positivity. Yeah. f**k this. Yes this should be sung by Kim k who is clearly the epitome of intellect. Meghan is a new young singer song writer who wrote a song about embracing her body and being okay with that. And why should she have to show you her booty? It's not about being average. It's about working through your insecurities and being okay with that's. It's a massive hit because it resonates and it's really refreshing in our current pop landscape. A meghan trainor song over some sexualised jlo song anyday for me. All personal opinion

All personal opinion I work through my insecurities by tackling them head on and defeating them, not embracing the idea of living with them. She doesn't have to show anyone anything, but to me it's goofy to say "I'm bringing booty back" and not even show your ass. It would be like JT bringing sexy back while wearing a mask and covering himself in sheets. If sexy men did indeed leave, JT brought sexy back by being handsome and looking damn good without a shirt on. Not being average and not showing off. Meghan just makes me want to hit the gym even harder than I already do.

And this will outperform "Booty" because our media's current agenda is to promote being average and mediocre. These are the same people who want to put ugly guys in underwear ads.

...because our media's current agenda is to promote being average and mediocre. When have they promoted that agenda? I watch TV, read magazines and newspapers, and read blogs. Maybe they promote that during Semi-Homemade with Sandra Lee on the Food Channel, but that's an isolated incident, and I wouldn't know anything about that as I don't have that channel. The media promotes and advocates an image that is so unattainable that people are doing cocaine, binging and purging, and even getting lipo and plastic surgery to look like the Photoshopped models in the magazines. They shame anyone for looking even remotely healthy and even that "remotely healthy" is still quite unhealthy. Since when has it been sexy for women to look like tree branches in barely there lingerie? They also shame them if they don't look like what is hot and in vogue now. When did the whole mediocrity thing happen? Is this a reference to Omarosa dragging Bethenny Frankel's talk show? That doesn't really apply to this situation. This song hardly has the impact that a low rated, short-lived talk show hosted by a Real Housewife had. These are the same people who want to put ugly guys in underwear ads. When has that actually happened, I mean, outside of the Huffington Post site, so that would be outside of those 2 people who created this "article".

Good, this hit #1. Now it can start its free-fall and go into the club of "fast-rise, fast-fall #1 hits on pop that become obscure hits in 1 year."

When has that actually happened, I mean, outside of the Huffington Post site, so that would be outside of those 2 people who created this "article". I'm not into women who look like twig branches in their lingerie (though I don't think it's fair to make fun of them because some women are naturally like that and enjoy being that way). Personally I enjoy more thick/curvy women, but I'm honestly not that picky. This song hitting #1 is evidence of the average agenda, as is the negative press that the "Anaconda" and "Booty" videos are getting (though that's also fueled by the never-ending supply of prudes in this country). It's a big part of our culture right now to promote the idea that everybody is great just the way they are; we have all of these corny shows shoving that idea in our faces. And you're right about the male underwear thing. That was the article I was referencing. Underwear companies aren't going to listen to a bunch of hippies on Huffington Post lol.

And you're right about the male underwear thing. That was the article I was referencing. Underwear companies aren't going to listen to a bunch of hippies on Huffington Post lol. I am a manager at a department store and we do get some customers who have complaints about how they don't like that the models on the boxes of the underwear look nothing like the men who would actually wear the underwear contained in that box. The truth is that most of those models only wear that underwear for the ad and box photos and they are more likely to be wearing Andrew Christian, Diesel, Emporio Armani, or Papi. One customer suggested that underwear companies should just use the generic headless mannequins to model the underwear and that they should use mannequins of different sizes based on how small/big the underwears are.

Your anger toward this song was already kind of bizarre, but that it might partially stem from a love of "Booty" of all songs has just pushed this vitriol into other-level weird.

What a stupid song that promotes being average and dumbing down our society. Errr, I mean...body positivity. Yeah. f**k this. -- What's funny is that everything you wrote (particularly the bold part) is exactly why this song is successful. The song isn't about pushing "booty" in the - that girl has a perfect, well-toned butt sense. It's about pushing "booty" in the average girls are bigger than models, but they should embrace the fact that they've got some "junk." And you clearly get this. J-Lo, Kim Kardashian, Iggy Azalea, Nicki Minaj, etc are conventionally attractive women who, surgeries aside, represent genetic gold mines (as far as body aesthetics go). If you've seen Iggy's Ice Bucket Challenge video, you know that her upper body is skinnier than the average runaway model and her waist is the size of the average person's fist. But she then has the perfectly wide hips, big butt, thick (yet long) legs and ridiculous height to turn her into a near physical ideal for a woman. Nicki Minaj talks about how she ain't missin no meals before going on to say F-You to skinny women, yet she herself is realistically skinny when compared to the societal norm. Her waist, like Iggy's, is tiny, and there's no excess fat or "junk" anywhere but in her boobs and butt. Kim Kardashian has a perfect hourglass figure, and J-Lo is just a goddess. Kim might get called fat because her ass is so massive and she's so short (which makes her look stubby), but she's clearly not. And I've never heard anyone say J-Lo is fat. Meghan Trainor is succeeding with this song because she actually looks like an average preson. She's not super fat (to the point where the song becomes too preachy and personal) and she's cute, but she's not a prototypical hot, voluptuous girl pretending to be "normal" to sell records. If you saw her on the street, you might be attracted to her, but you'd never think she was a pop star. THAT is why this song is so effective. Plus - comparing it to Booty and Anaconda is ridiculous, because it's a much better song. So even forgetting all the thematic nonsense, it should do better because it sounds better.

Your points about the women's bodies is fair enough. I just feel like there are "overweight" women who look better than Meghan and have better bodies all around, but I'm sure many of them relate to the song regardless. I realize that looking like the women I mentioned is unrealistic for many, but to me it's those rare gems that should be celebrated over average things. But that's just me. And what songs sound better is completely subjective. Personally I find "Booty" to be much more catchy and creative than this. And while I don't care much for "Anaconda," I would still say it sounds better than this.

God forbid a woman who represents more of the average female comes along and promotes a self-empowering anthem about embracing a "standard" body. It's not as if we had decades of the media and pop culture stuffing unrealistic/photoshopped image/body exepectations down our throats.
Really? Get out with that nonsense.

Equating being average looking with being mediocre is beyond pathetic. Not everybody is build to have a model body, in fact that kind of body is not natural for 99% of people (and in a lot of cases not even healthy).
The last four songs to hit number one at billboard had a lot of haters, but frankly i didn't watch such irrational hate that goes beyond the song before

This song gets hatred but it's not irrational, at least not on my part.
