Iggy has confirmed that this is the next single: I definitely enjoy this significantly more than "Fancy." Should easily smash (and finally throw Rita a bone stateside) Source

This is a hit, but I just don't care for it. It sounds like this weird, twilight zone, Taylor Swift-is-a-rapper anomaly-- not that I dislike Taylor, but it's strange. Although I didn't care for 'Fancy' at first either, and it grew on me, so maybe this will follow suit. Thought the same thing.

I have a feeling this will do well, but they're going to have to time it right or it's going to suffer the megahit follow-up phenomenon.

This will be huge, though, they really should go with "Work" re-release given all the momentum its built on downloads and streaming services in the recent weeks.

This is alright. Much better than the horrifyingly bad "Fancy," at least. Although it kind of sounds like a ripoff of "Dark Horse."

Not sure why people seem content on downplaying what is very clearly the pop song of the year thus far. Fancy is fantastic, and Charli XCX's bridge is one of the best things you'll hear on any format all year. But it is very good - and I do think the Dark Horse element of the beat will translate well to pop. Plus, it will be nice to see Rita Ora get real airplay.

Chasing sudden sales momentum is a crapshoot. It obviously would have been the right move with Dark Horse (which ended up working out just fine anyway), but it was a mistake with Glory and Gore. And by the time HAIM's Forever actually hit radio, people were over the commercials. In this case, however, people are *SO* into Iggy that anything she releases next will probably smash.

Definitely don't like this as much as "Fancy," but I can see that changing over time.*

Yes and interestingly this was produced by Stargate and not Dr. Luke. However, this is VERY similar to Dark Horse but I don't mind as DH is as amazing as a pop song can be.

Should have been Work, but they probably went with this for another attempt to make Rita Ora happen in the US.

Does it have an adds date yet? Hopefully not a real early release. I am grateful that Work is getting attention with streaming.

What's with her voice in this song?
Anyways, it was decent. It's not as instant as "Fancy" was for me but maybe I'll like it more over time.

Even though Rita Oral will NEVER happen in the US, the hook is much less grating than Fancy. I like this song. It's very poppy but I like it much better than Fancy, for sure. Work should be next after this or New Chick.

I can think of more times where it's worked than when it's failed though. For example Can't Hold Us, Same Love, Someone Like You, Set Fire to the Rain, Telephone, Love the Way You Lie, Team. These songs were all were selling well before they became a single (a lot of them even charting on the Hot 100 very early like Dark Horse did), and when they eventually got released they were successful.

Yeah this was definitely written/probably demoed at the same session as Dark Horse. The hook is unmistakably Katy and Rita even delivers it exactly how KP would.

These songs were all were selling well before they became a single (a lot of them even charting on the Hot 100 very early like Dark Horse did), and when they eventually got released they were successful. Team was confirmed as the second single when it "leaked" (LOL - if the very existence of Beyonce's album could stay under wraps, I have a hard time believing this song truly leaked). This was before it was even available on iTunes and before Royals had even hit #1 on Billboard. Also - I'm not sure the comparison to all those songs is fair. Many of those were album tracks that did well before receiving promotion, which reflected a level of buyer interest. Work is an "official" single that also features Azalea's most well known video (due to the lap dance scene, in which she showed off her now famous butt), so it naturally would be on the radar once buyers learned about Iggy via Fancy.

Work is already in the Top 100 on iTunes. It has been for a while.. I wonder if it'll continue to move up on the Hot 100 this week (currently at #63)
